The Sentry 2025 Weather Forecast and Projections

Hovland of the PGA

We’re teeing off on a brand new year, and we’re doing it in style! We have generally pleasant conditions for The Sentry in Hawaii, though there is one day when winds will likely be an issue.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts.

With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another.

You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

The Sentry Weather Forecast

Thursday, January 2nd

On the ugliest day of the bunch, winds will start out at 10-15 mph and climb to around 20 mph sustained (with stronger gusts) by the afternoon. There’s also a chance of a shower or storm.

Friday, January 3rd

Morning winds are 5-10 mph, with afternoon winds picking up a touch and settling right around 10 mph sustained. There is a low chance of rain.

Saturday, January 4th

Fairly light winds through the weekend, likely 5-10 mph through most of Saturday, with low rain chances.

Sunday, January 5th

Closing it out with another nice day. Winds 5-10 mph with low chances for rain.

The Sentry Weather Thoughts

Outside of Thursday afternoon being windy, things look pretty good here. Unfortunately, with condensed tee times here, I don’t think there’s much that can be done to avoid the windy part of the day.
