The Wedding Singer

What do you do when your NFL Playoff Fantasy dreams have gone down the drain? You write a blog and feel sorry for yourself! As you can see above, I have titled this blog “The Wedding Singer.” I mentioned a few blogs back, that I am getting married this July. It turns out that saving for a wedding is harder than I though it would be. I was all but certain that my rotogrinding would surely pay off my wedding necessities. Well, with a bankroll currently sitting at about $2 bucks, it looks like I may be wrong.

As it stands right now, I still owe the DJ and the florist. Now I can do without flowers, but what is a wedding without music?! So, I have set a grinding goal for myself that started on Monday, January 10th. If I am not able to get my bankroll up to $1200 within the next four months, I may have to do the singing at the wedding myself. Now, I am no Robby Hart, but I can sing a little bit. I am not sure my fiance will be happy with me providing the music, but as they say, it is what it is.

For the next four months I will keep track of my bankroll, as well as my wins and losses. Hopefully my bankroll will rise to where I need it to be by the cutoff date. I just recently began playing on a new website (DraftStreet) and will try to build a bankroll there in addition to Fanduel.

I mentioned that I am sitting on a $2 bankroll, but that is only because I have over $100 locked up in NBA action tonight. Wednesday is a huge night on Fanduel, as they host the NBA Wednesday Slam. I have three horses entered in the race and feel with a little luck I can make half of my “goal” money with a cash tonight. In addition, I have three heads up matches, and a few multi player matches. All of my eggs are in the basket of Zach Randolph, Rajon Rondo, Aaron Brooks, and Dorell Wright.

I am hoping the three hours of research today will pay off big for me. Although when you are facing 300 players, you need a lot of luck. Many teams will be similar, so it’s all a matter of having the one or two guys who go off for 50+ points.

In addition to having some of my bankroll wrapped up in the Fanduel’s Wednesday NBA, I also have a few bucks invested in this weeks NFL playoff games. I am a huge Steelers fan, so I am more concerned with that game than any other. I am not investing nearly as much in NFL as I did during the regular season for the simple fact that there are so few players to choose from, and it seems that many players are obvious choices. Part of the fun is researching and finding that player that not everyone will see. Tip-off time!

…Later the Next Day

Well, Fanduel chaos aside, it was a profitable night! DJ here I com. Well, not exactly-I still have a ways to go. It turned out that the Fanduel server went down and lineups locked an hour before game time. This caused great confusion and outrage amongst the Fanduelers. Luckily, it didn’t affect me, as my lineup was ready to rock after hours of research. I was lucky enough to be granted a snow day and was able to put up a whopping 317 points. Good enough for 17th place in the NBA slam. This is what a 17th place lineup looks like:

Player Note
Rajon Rondo Too much of a value not to take
Aaron Brooks Got extra run with Martin out
Joe Johnson As consistent as they come
Stephen Jackson A points machine
Bron Bron He’s good
Dorell Wright Quickly becoming one of my favorite choices
Blake Griffin He’s real good
Zach Randolph Hottest player in the league-Was an absolute monster for me!
Andrew Bynum His on-court antics annoy me-but what a value at $ 5400

17th place in the tourney netted me a whopping $10 bucks! Woohoo! Luckily for me, I made my money in multi-play and heads up action and the current bankroll stands at $148 with some locked up action in tonight’s short NBA schedule. It looks good early, as I am matched heads up with an opponent who inexplicably left Kevin Love off his roster. Love and Griffin are automatic 40 points a night! Gotta have em.

Good Luck to all this weekend! Let’s take a look at the bankroll:
