This week I’m covering the salary cap game at 365FantasySports.com. The game plays much like the other salary cap games on the daily scene, but has the advantage of being a little less time consuming. It’s a perfect game for players with a limited amount of time to invest in a daily game. However, just because it doesn’t take as much time, that doesn’t mean it’s not a very competitive and skillful game.
The game is setup with 2 G, 2 F, 1 C and 2 Flex positions. The salary cap is 350 points. The main difference in this game is that each position only has 10-12 players to choose from rather than the entire player universe that some sites use. This really narrows down the number of players you have to research and you can focus your time effectively on each group. If you put in the research time, the correct choices in this game will often reveal themselves for a very strong roster.
Just as I discussed last week, the game at 365FantasySports.com offers volume daily players a chance to diversify their game portfolio since the correct rosters in this game usually won’t be the same rosters that are correct for other sites. Here is my roster for Wednesday night’s action at 365FantasySports.com:
NBA – Wednesday
Pos. | Player | Cost | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
G | Gilbert Arenas | 51 pts | John Wall is out and Arenas will be asked to carry the offense. His matchup is a little tough, but that‘s never stopped Gilbert from jacking up shots. |
G | Eric Bledsoe | 45 pts | Baron Davis remains out for a couple weeks and Bledsoe has been effective running the Clippers offense. He‘s got a good matchup against Sebastian Telfair and the high scoring Timberwolves. |
F | Elton Brand | 72 pts | Brand has turned back the clock and regained his old fantasy value. How long this continues is anyone’s guess, but enjoy it for now. He’s matched up against one of the worst rebounding centers in the game, Andrea Bargnani. |
F | Carl Landry | 47 pts | This is a risky play, but the top guys in this group were simply out of my price range. Landry had a good game last time out and gets a Knicks team that likes to run the floor, which should create some extra opportunities for Landry. |
C | Brook Lopez | 63 pts | Lopez has been scoring but his rebounding has been disappointing. What better matchup for a scorer than against the high scoring Jazz. With the way the Jazz comeback, you know Brook will see action until the final buzzer. |
F | Anthony Morrow | 34 pts | The flex positions are very difficult categories in this game and none of the picks are what you would call ‘stars’. Morrow has been getting decent minutes and he can light it up if his shot is falling. The Nets could get in a shootout with the Jazz. |
F | Kris Humphries | 36 pts | Troy Murphy is nursing an injury and Humphries has filled in nicely, putting up a couple of double-doubles. That should continue Wednesday. |
Injury News
A couple of guys have suggested that we give a quick rundown of injuries around the league, so here’s a few important ones and how you can profit from them:
John Wall (WAS) – He’s got a foot injury and missed Tuesday’s game. You will want to give Gilbert Arenas and Kirk Hinrich plays if Wall remains out.
Jermaine O’Neal (BOS) – Out 2-3 weeks. Shaq O’Neal becomes a good start and Glen Davis should also see some good minutes. Both are fairly cheap on most daily sites.
Robin Lopez (PHO) – Look for opportunities to play big men against the Suns who are missing their starting center.
Darren Collison (IND) – Look for T. J. Ford to get some starts while Collison is out.
Andre Iguodala (PHI) – His achilles is still bothering him. Evan Turner should continue to start and makes a decent play.
Brandon Roy (POR) – Wes Matthews and Rudy Fernandez should split time filling in for Roy and both could be used for the right price.
Aaron Brooks (HOU) – Brooks is still out with an injury, so Kyle Lowery will get the call to fill in for him. Ishmael Smith was the play last week, but the return of Lowery pushed Smith back to the bench.
Chris Kaman (LAC) – DeAndre Jordan seems to be benefiting the most from Kaman’s absence, but Blake Griffin is getting hurt with doubleteams.
Luke Ridnour (MIN) – Not sure how much longer he’s going to be out, but Sebastian Telfair will hold down the spot until Ridnour returns and makes a decent cheap daily play.
Jeff Green (OKC) – Green had some type of setback on Sunday and could miss a little more time. Serge Ibaka will get the call and makes a nice daily play.
Good luck this week.
