Today's Batter Breakdown: Tue, June 3rd
Welcome to the Daily Batter Breakdown. Each day, with at least 8 games on the night slate, I’ll breakdown some of the best top tier hitters to target based on matchup. The biggest split taken into account will be left/right, but each player card will also show park factors, player salaries and then a description of why I’ll be targeting him. Be sure to check out the FAQ for more information on specific stats.
Lots of huge tournaments going off today including the Super Monster on FanDuel where someone will walk away with 100k tonight. DraftKings also has another large tournament and there are qualifiers everywhere. Tuesday is usually a great day in DFS land and even though there’s a Coors Field game tonight it should be a really solid game.

Chris Gimenez
Gimenez has been extremely solid for the Rangers and is getting most of the reps at catcher right now. He’s done nothing but hit since coming up and his 1.023 OPS against right handers is pretty impressive, albeit a small sample. Whatever he’s done against right handers this year it has worked and with him being so cheap and the over/under on this game being so high, I really like him tonight in the battle of how you spell J(G)imenez.

Paul Goldschmidt
You have Goldschmidt in Coors Field in a 10 over under game against a left handed pitcher? Need I say more? he’s going to be the top 1B on the slate tonight and will be highly owned. The only question here is, do you want to fade him or do you want to use him and hope he double dongs?
| Dustin Pedroia | |||||||
| Daily Breakdown | Avg | OPS | HR% | wOBA | ||||

Dustin Pedroia
Pedroia is back, well sort of, as long as he doesn’t get ejected. He continues to hit lefties well with a .805 OPS and has done most of his power work against them in his career. T.J. House was terrible in his first start, and decent in his 2nd but he’s still not a major league pitcher at this point. The over/under on this game is huge and the Red Sox are favored away from home so they make a nice non-Coors stack tonight against the Indians and Pedroia is going to be at the top of the lineup.
| Manny Machado | |||||||

Manny Machado
I think Machado is finally getting it together with 4 hits in the last 2 games. He has a nice .290 average and a .769 OPS in his career against left handers and with the 9.5 over/under in Texas tonight and Joe Saunders taking the mound I have no qualms with using him today.
| Chris Owings | |||||||

Chris Owings
I’m thinking Owings will be in the lineup tonight against the lefty De La Rosa and I think he makes a really nice play. De La Rosa hasn’t been horrible, but he’s done most of his good work against left handers this year. Owings has crushed lefties with a .342 average and .859 OPS and with the Coors Field factor he could definitely get his first homer off of a lefty tonight. He has some monster games and I think he makes a great GPP at SS.
| Corey Dickerson | |||||||

Corey Dickerson
Dickerson usually only gets the nod against right handers so look who we have tonight taking the mound – Chase Anderson. Vegas has really disliked Anderson since he’s came up and although he’s defied Vegas most of the time so far, he still has huge downside especially in Coors Field. The big lefties in Blackmon, CarGo, and Dickerson should go nuts today and I like Dickerson’s 1.112 OPS against right handers and his averaging 1 HR/10 AB on the season. He’s expensive but should be in for a solid game.
| Nelson Cruz | |||||||

Nelson Cruz
The majors home run leader has a matchup tonight that really makes me salivate and I bet it makes him want to get out there and play. His injury isn’t effecting him anymore and he should be in the lineup today against Joe Saunders who has been miserable against right handers his entire career. He’s one of my favorite stack targets against when he takes the mound and the big boss Cruz should be able to hit one out today against him.
| Carlos Gonzalez | |||||||

Carlos Gonzalez
Stack Dickerson with Gonzalez if you can find the salary and you really won’t be disappointed. They may even have a 5.5 over/under today against Chase Anderson and they are going to have fun back at home after a while away from Coors Field. Gonzalez has been dealing with a bruised finger but I’m not too worried about it if he’s going to take the field today. Anderson has pretty bad peripheral numbers and should get shelled in Coors tonight.
| Brandon Moss | |||||||

Brandon Moss
Moss has been banged up a bit lately but should be in the lineup tonight at the Yankees. Kuroda this year has had a complete regression from last year and just isn’t pitching very well. Kuroda has given up an .812 OPS to left handers and has allowed 5 HRs in the last 4 games. It doesn’t help that Moss is going to try to use the short porch in right and may not even have to get all of it to hit it out tonight.
| Adam LaRoche | |||||||

Adam LaRoche
LaRoche is quietly having a fantastic season. His 7 homers are nothing to scoff at considering he’s missed some time and his 1.012 OPS and .343 average against right handed pitching is actually very impressive. I think he’s going to fly under the radar today and should be a nice GPP play with upside and a relative floor. His walk rate is really nice and he’s been hitting really well lately not to mention his matchup against Buchanan and the heavy favorite that Vegas has pegged the Nationals at today.
