Top KBO DFS Stacks: Thursday, May 14th

Happy Day! Last night had a wrench thrown into everything with the shocking eight strikeout game from David Buchanan. Moving forward, it will be interesting to see if there is something about Buchanan’s pitch mix that can be this much more effective in Korea, but based on his terribly low strikeouts from every level he’s ever been at, I’m just going to chalk that one up to the baseball gods wanting a good laugh at my Kiwoom stacks.

I am going to jump back in here later with some top stacks for the night, but I wanted to kick off the day with a look at some numbers for the early season surprise in the KBO, the Lotte Giants. If you’re a long time reader of my MLB Musings, you’ll know that my primary goal is not to tell you who to play on any particular slate, but to help you gain a better understanding of baseball stats and what they mean. There are a lot of different ways to analyze the data we have, and I don’t ever expect us all to agree on the top lineup construction on any given slate.

Because the data is so limited for KBO, there are a lot of things we don’t know, and not everything is going to line up perfectly with MLB. But we do know that the basic stats stay the same. With that in mind, I wanted to see what might be behind this hot start for Lotte. (There is nothing worse than a cold Lotte. I wonder if there’s a place called Lotte Larry’s in Korea? There should be. Yes, I know is lAtte)
