Total Domination: Week 11

A weekly look at games that could exceed or fall short of betting market expectations. Bettors can leverage recommendations at the sportsbook, while DFS players can use the specific player recommendations mentioned to their advantage. Steve Repsold deep dives each recommendation and advises us the level of bet confidence expressed in units (example: 2u = 2 units).

Week 11

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at New York Giants (-2.5) Over 53 2u

It’s easy to look at the Buccaneers’ paltry 3-6 record and dismiss them as just a bad team, but it’s not as simple as that. Their defense is, undoubtedly, horrible. I can imagine defensive coordinators from all levels of football tearing their hair out watching Tampa Bay games. But their offense has been astounding, and not in a superficial, “garbage time” production manner.

The Buccaneers’ 6.62 yards per play ranks ninth in the NFL… since 1970. That’s right: out of the 1445 team seasons in the Super Bowl era, the 2018 Buccaneers are currently ninth in yards per play. Some of that is a sign of the times; median offensive production has consistently increased, and three other 2018 teams are in the top ten. What really stands out is that they’ve done this while rotating two error-prone, unspectacular quarterbacks, with a running game led by Peyton Barber.
