2024 TOUR Championship Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the TOUR Championship outside of Atlanta, GA this week. While we will live up to the city’s nickname of Hot-lanta with high temps in the 90s each day, the weather will (for the most part) cooperate nicely throughout the tournament.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on DFS sites and sportsbooks.

TOUR Championship Weather Forecast

Thursday, August 29th

Day 1 sets the expectations for the rest of the tournament going forward. It’s generally quiet weather, with calm AM winds, light (5-10 mph) afternoon winds, and a stray chance for an afternoon downpour.

Friday, August 30th

I don’t see any major differences between Thursday and Friday; near-calm morning winds, light afternoon winds, and a low chance of a shower or storm.

Saturday, August 31st

Afternoon rain chances climb a bit during the weekend but still are capped at 30-40%. Winds again are near calm early and only increase to 5-10 mph by the afternoon.

Sunday, September 1st

Another day with manageable winds and chance of an afternoon storm.

TOUR Championship Weather Thoughts

With this being a smaller field and having condensed tee times, plus some fairly mundane weather, I don’t see any edge to be had with a weather angle.
