TPOY Update: PrimeTime420 Climbs To The Top Spot!
For those of you who might be unaware, we here at RotoGrinders have a leaderboard which we refer to as the Tournament Player of the Year Award. The idea is to identify the players who perform best in tournaments that pay out to a limited portion of the field. We have a heated battle on our hands for first place, and there are still a few major events remaining before the winner is crowned. DraftKings Fantasy Millionaire Grand Final, FanDuel’s King of the Gridiron and Fantasy Feud’s $100K Feud of Champions will all take place before the December 31st deadline.
What does the winner of the TPOY award actually win? The 2013 TPOY Champion will receive a FREE trip to Las Vegas for the RotoGrinders NFL Kick-Off Party in 2014, and will join us at Legassee Stadium at the Venetian to celebrate NFL Week 1. Definitely a nice prize because from what I understand, this year’s kickoff party was a great time.
Criteria Clarified
Results that count must hit each of the following criteria:
1) $10,000 Prizepool event or larger
2) Result must be in Top 20th percentile of field
3) Only one score per event counts
4) Only Top 30 scores per year count
5) Satellite events do not count
Let’s take a look at our current Top 25…

- #1 – PrimeTime420 What a difference a few weeks (with million dollar live final events) can do. Congratulations to PrimeTime420 for making the big leap into first place after his performances in the FFFC and the DFFC. He finished 7th in FanDuel’s final and had two entries in DraftStreet’s main event, but only his 22nd place finish will count towards the TPOY standings. PrimeTime has been lurking in the top five for awhile now, so it was only a matter of time before he finally made the jump. However, his spot is far from secure, as Week 15 will provide the rest of the field with plenty of opportunities to leapfrog him. In addition to the top spot in the TPOY rankings, PrimeTime is 8th in our overall rankings and 11th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard.
- #2 – woopdeedoo You might know him as BeepImaJeep or DirtyGirl15, but either way he’s probably taken your money before. He also had two entries in the DFFC, but will only get credit for his 28th place finish. Woopdeedoo has been flat out dominant this year, and has been a mainstay in the top-three for most of the year. He’s certainly within striking distance of the title, and a good showing in DraftKings final this weekend would go a long way in his push for first.
- #3 – naapstermaan If you have been playing daily fantasy for any length of time, you know about the panda. Naap has built up quite an impressive resume; he is the 2013 ROOGSLAMMLE Champion, and has taken down both the Midsummer Classic and the BankShot on DraftKings. He was also a 2013 PFFC finalist, and has made appearances in the DSBBC, DFBBC, and PFBC in the past. Naap also holds down the #31 spot in our overall rankings, and is 57th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard. He was leading this race for awhile, so he clearly has what it takes to get back there again.
- #4 – McJester McJester just keeps on climbing. After getting a decent bump from the FFFC, he’s still got the FMGF and FanThrowdown’s 500K Championship to climb even higher. While he wasn’t a part of this past weekend’s PFFC, he did compete in the PFBC earlier this year at the Mansion. McJester is currently 27th in the overall rankings and 33rd on the NFL Grinder leaderboard.
- #5 – MrTuttle05 Tuttle made a big jump over the last two weeks, thanks to competing in the FFFC, DFFC and PFFC. Over those three tournaments, he gained over 3000 points toward his TPOY standing. He’s also taken part in this year’s PFBC and DFBC, and even managed to rack up two entries to both tournaments. Tuttle is also 6th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard and holds down the #13 spot in our overall rankings.
- #6 – stlcardinals84 If you’ve read this guys material in either NFL or NBA this season, he’s definitely helped you win some cash. STL finished 17th in the DFFC this past weekend, and he’ll be taking a shot at the DraftKings final this weekend as well. He’s a 2013 DFBC and DSBC finalist and finished 7th on our MLB Grinder leaderboard. A true year-round threat, he also succeeds in college football and puts together some great material here at RotoGrinders. STL is also in 6th place in the overall rankings, and sits in 14th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard.
- #7 – headChopper I’m pretty sure he’s got the maximum number of DraftKings FMGF entries allowed for one person, so Chop has a great chance to make a big jump this weekend. HeadChopper successfully qualified for all three live final events, and after a 35th place finish in the FFFC, he finished 26th in the DFFC and 10th in the PFFC last Sunday. Much like STL, Chop is a year-round Grinder who excels in whatever sport he wants to. Chop is 19th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard and is 22nd in the overall rankings.
- #8 – shanksalot After winning the PFFC on Sunday, shanksalot has moved into eighth place. Shanks also finished 29th in the FFFC, and will no doubt be trying once again to take home a million on DraftKings this weekend. He completely dominated the PFFC field, outperforming second place by over 65 points! Shanksalot is 34th on the NFL Grinder leaderboard and is 69th in the overall rankings.
- #9 – csuram88 He might be in eighth place now, but he has as good of a chance as anyone to make a jump following the FMGF this weekend. Like Chop, I believe he also has the maximum number of tickets, so he’ll be able to create a bunch of different lineup combinations. In addition to his #9 spot in the TPOY rankings, CSU is ranked inside the top-ten on the overall, monthly, NFL and NBA leaderboards. If you aren’t listening to his advice on GrindersLive, you’re missing out.
- #10 – condia Arguably the most well-known name in daily fantasy sports, condia comes in at #10. He’s not picking up points from the major events (he did not qualify for any of the live final events), but he plays so much volume on a daily basis that he’s still managed to climb this high. Condia is mostly a cash game player, and is still our top ranked overall Grinder, and he’s got more than twice as many points as second place.
- There is still so much up for grabs in the next few days… As I’ve alluded to above, DraftKings Fantasy Grand Millionaire Final takes place on Sunday, and it will cause a big shakeup in these rankings. Even if the tournament only receives 1,800 entries, first place would jump up about 7,250 points (which is about what seperates 1st from 25th), and second place would gain over 4,750 points. If DraftKings comes close to breaking even (2,067 entries), first place would receive about 7,850 points, and second would get over 5,000. FanDuel’s King of the Gridiron, FanThrowdown’s 500K Championship and Fantasy Feud’s 100K Feud of Champions will also present a chance to climb in the standings. Good luck to everyone in the last big weekend of NFL action; the major NBA tournaments will be here in no time!
