Happy Friday, everyone! It’s a massive MLB slate for Friday, August 9th, and for the very first time, we are transitioning to highlight the best Underdog Fantasy picks today! The Braves in Coors Field headline the top offenses, while Robbie Ray, Zack Wheeler, and Jack Flaherty round out the best pitchers. With a ton of different offenses and pitchers in strong spots, there are plenty of different Underdog MLB Top Plays to choose from.

First, I’ll break down my favorite Underdog Fantasy MLB plays of the day; then, you can find a few more suggestions (pick only) at the bottom. Let’s get to it!

Top Underdog Fantasy MLB Picks Today

Ryne Nelson – Higher/Lower Than 17.5 Outs

Nelson has been a much better pitcher recently than we’re used to seeing from him, but he has an incredibly tough matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies. He projects for only 16.02 pitching outs in the RotoGrinders projections, and the Phillies have been extra scary lately with Bryce Harper bouncing out of his cold spell while Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner are red-hot at the plate.

Carson Spiers – Higher/Lower Than 15.5 Outs

The Brewers are no slouch, but I really like this spot for Spiers. He’s been far better against right-handed bats so far this season, and Milwaukee’s projected lineup has five righties and they also have a team strikeout rate of 25%. Spiers has pitched at least 5 innings in every single game he has started since June (except for one), and this pick has a 56.91% win rate in the MLB Fantasy Pick’em Tool for Underdog.

Bobby Witt – Higher/Lower Than 1.5 Total Bases

Witt has been one of the best hitters in baseball this season, and his numbers at home are absolutely ridiculous. He draws a great matchup at home against Miles Mikolas. Witt has a ridiculous .354 ISO against RHP over the last month. He projects for 2.53 total bases in the RotoGrinders projections, and I think he’s going to be sending one out of the park.
