Wednesday Tip-Off: GPPs and Large-Fields

Tippy pulled his hammy trying to show off in a pick-up game last night, so you’re stuck with me again! Let’s get this Wednesday going! Wednesday is to the NBA what Sunday is to the NFL. So, we’ve got a great offering of GPPs across the sites, and I’m going to help those lineups out for you today with some high-upside value picks.

Speaking of GPPs, I haven’t made up my mind yet as to whether I’m going to jump on board the newly coined term by DraftStreet ‘GPP’ (Guaranteed Prize Pool), or the popular title of ‘Large-Fields’. This could be a tussle. Let me know which title you like in the comment box below. Let’s get this going. Here’s my list of value plays you should be using in the GPP-Large-Fields today, and the GPPLFs you should be playing:

Positional Value Plays

(Note: The position each player is categorized under varies depending on the site you are playing on.)

Guard

ramon sessions

Ramon Sessions – Thought about not including Ramon, because he’s such an obvious choice right now…but as long as B Diddy is out, Ramon is an elite PG option – forget value.

Rodney Stuckey – The Detroit Pistons are following suit with the rest of Detroit’s economy right now. Maybe Eminem can bail Tracy McGrady off the bench with a cool, supperbowl commercial. Until then, Stuckey is the Guard to roll with.

Beno Udrih – He’s reeking havoc with ‘Reke out of the lineup. Solid PG value play moving forward.

Wes Johnson – He’s the hot topic right now in Daily Fantasy. Three straight stunners for this young talent for Minnesota post Corey Brewer trade (Go Gata).

Marcus Thornton – It baffles me that it takes a trade and two SG injuries to get this guy some playing time. He rarely disappoints when he gets the minutes – so he should be a good play tonight.

George Hill – It was right around this time last year that we were rolling out George Hill every night. Deja Vu’. Tony Parker is hurt again, and Hill has enough talent to be a strong play every night.

Anthony Parker – He’s on the Cavaliers, so he gets minutes. His ceiling isn’t huge, but he’s worth his price tag.

Landry Fields – As long as he’s starting for the Knicks he’s worth a look. Billups is banged up so he could get some more run.

Toney Douglas – If Billups is out tonight, I like Toney Douglas to get the extra minutes over Ant-Carter. Toney played PG for the Knicks some last season and could be a strong spot-start if he gets a hot hand.

Forward

JJ Hickson – This one should be self-explanatory.

Chase Budinger – Air Budinger is getting some run baby! His game log is far from impressive, but he can produce and is worth his price tag.

Wilson Chandler – Depedning on which site and which price you’re looking at, Wilson is a good value play tonight with Dino out with an injury. Wilson will be starting at SF for the Nuggets until the other former-Knick returns.

Shawne Williams – He did decent defending Dwight last night…I mean 30 Points/16 Rebounds is about average. Look for Shawne Williams to continue to get the start for the Knicks. He won’t explode, but he’s dirt cheap.

Speculative

Luke Harangody – His last game he played he put up: 8-3-0-1-1 in 14 min. With the Cavs decimated he could actually get some run. Extrapolate that, and you can see he has 30 point value with 30 minutes of run.

Marvin Williams – If Josh Smith is out, I like an uptick in Marvin Willams value.

The Timberwolves Anthony – Darko is out tonight, so Anthony Randolph and Anthony Tolliver could each get some extra run for the Timberwolves. I’m a big fan of Randolph’s talent, and it would seem tonight would be a good night to test out the Wolves newest big man, but it’s anyone guess where the minutes go.

Center

Marcus Camby – He’s back from injury, but a bit rusty. If he’s cheap on the site you play on, he’s probably worth the price though.

Chuck Hayes – He’s been surprising consistent lately, and is playing well. Hayes is a very solid play for his price.

Greg Monroe – Monroe is no longer a secret. The kid is good. He’s getting minutes at Center in Detroit, feel free to use him in any format on a non-Dwight night.

Kwame Brown – Nazr is out of town and Tyrus Thomas is still hurt. He’s not going to explode, but someone has to play Center for the Bobcats. Kawme got 40+ minutes of run the other night, and is a decent look for value.

Marcin Gortat – 17 points in three straight games, with 11 rebounds in two of those.

Roy Hibbert – The giant from Indiana is getting back in a rythym. It was nice to see him start getting his assists in again last night. I’m a fan of Roy, but he did play against Golden State last night and could be a bit winded today.

Chris Kaman – He continues to produce in a limited role. He should take the starting job back any day now, and if he doesn’t he is still producing well.

Serge Ibaka – Serge is officially starting for the Thunder and should get the minutes needed to produce. His ceiling is limited by his inability to get assists and steals, and being a weak scorer though, so don’t pay too much.

Speculative

Zaza Pachulia – If Josh Smith sits, I see the Hawks starting Zaza at Center and sliding Horford to PF.
