Wednesday Tipp-Off: $3,000 FanDuel Slam Picks
Wednesday Tipp-Off
$3,000 FanDuel Slam Tourney Picks, Lineups and Injuries
It’s Wednesday which means Fanduel $3000 Slam Tournament time! There is a huge 12 game NBA schedule tonight and I’ve taken a look at the games and picked out some low priced guys who could have big nights. If you can pick 2 or 3 cheap roster fillers that produce and complete your roster with studs, the chances of a tourney win are good. Here’s what I’ve got for tonight.

Dallas @ Indiana (OFF)
DAL Probable: Kidd, Stevenson/Terry, Marion, Nowitzki, Chandler
IND Probable: Collison, Dunleavy/Rush, Granger, Hansbrough, Hibbert
Tourney Pick: Shawn Marion ($6200) – This pick really depends on whether or not Dirk Nowitzki plays. Even if Nowitzki does suit up for this one, Caron Butler is out and the Mavs will need more minutes from Marion. DeShawn Stevenson also gets a mention at $4700.
Dirk Nowitzki is a game time decision, so make sure you check the newswire. It might be a good idea to just avoid Nowitzki no matter what since he might still be slowed even if he does play. Another player to avoid is the slumping Roy Hibbert. He’s going to have some problems with Tyson Chandler. Indiana is on the second of a back to back.
Atlanta -3.5 @ Toronto (Total 205.5)
ATL Probable: Bibby, Johnson, Smith, Horford
TOR Probable: Calderon, DeRozan, Kleiza, A. Johnson, Bargnani
Tourney Pick: DeMar DeRozan ($6400) – DeRozan has been on fire lately scoring an average of 23.8 points over his last 6 games on 51.8% shooting. He’s averaged 18 shot attempts over those six games and could get that again tonight. He’s exactly the kind of high risk, high reward powder keg you look for in a big field tourney.
Jose Calderon should go and has a favorable matchup against Mike Bibby. Josh Smith and Al Horford can dominate the interior against the Raptors. Don’t expect anything from Amir Johnson. Joe Johnson is also still way under priced on Fanduel at $6800.
Chicago -3.5 @ Charlotte (Total 186.5)
CHI Probable: Rose, Brewer, Deng, Boozer, Thomas/Gibson
CHA Probable: Augustin, Henderson, Jackson, Diaw, Thomas
Tourney Pick: Gerald Henderson ($4000) – This pick depends on the status of Gerald Wallace. If Wallace somehow plays in this one, you should probably avoid Henderson and consider Tyrus Thomas ($5800). Henderson has played about 35 minutes a game over his last three with Wallace out.
Nazr Mohammed and Gerald Wallace could both miss, which gives a fantasy boost to Stephen Jackson and possibly Tyrus Thomas. Derrick Rose is a good play at PG, while Carlos Boozer could rack up some stats with Charlotte missing Wallace and Mohammed on the interior.
Sacramento @ Boston (OFF)
SAC Probable: Udrih, Taylor, Casspi, Landry/Thompson, Cousins
BOS Probable: Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Davis, Shaq
Tourney Pick: Rajon Rondo ($6200) – Still grossly mispriced at Fanduel, so you have to roll with him. He put up 53 fantasy points in last week’s Slam, so even though you know everyone else will also play him, you can’t give away the position. Fanduel really needs to fix this. As a comparison, the opposing PG in this game is Beno Udrih, who is priced $300 higher than Rondo, and that’s just ridiculous.
Tyreke Evans is probably going to miss this one with his chronic foot problems. I went on a rant about this one over on my blog, FantasyBasketballDaily.com, about how the Kings were really mismanaging their franchise player by running him 42 minutes in a 20 point win last Thursday . He pulled up lame in the very next game. Horrible coaching, and the Kings wonder why they suck. Beno Udrih gets a boost in fantasy value with Evans out. Pierce and Allen should have good lines here, but this could be a blowout. Kevin Garnett is doubtful to return tonight. Sacramento is on the second of a back to back.
Memphis -1.5 @ Detroit (Total 192.5)
MEM Probable: Conley, Henry/Mayo, Gay, Randolph, M. Gasol
DET Probable: Stuckey, B. Gordon, Prince, Monroe, Wallace
Tourney Pick: Greg Monroe ($5300) – Monroe got 43 minutes of run for Detroit on Monday and put up his third double-double in a row. Not bad for $5300.
Zach Randolph has been a fantasy beast and gets matched up on the rookie Greg Monroe, which should produce a good line. Tayshaun Prince has been playing some good basketball and could put up solid stats. Rudy Gay is always a good start. Avoid the streaky Ben Gordon.
San Antonio -3 @ Milwaukee (Total 187.5)
SAS Probable: Parker, Ginobili, Jefferson, Blair, Duncan
MIL Probable: Dooling, Douglas-Roberts, Salmons, Ilyasova, Bogut
Tourney Pick: Chris Douglas-Roberts ($5100.) – CDR has had two great games in a row going for 24 and 30 points on 21 of 33 shooting. He averaged 38 minutes in those two games. He’s an offensive spark and could put up a third nice game against a Spurs team that played last night.
Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili could have nice lines here, but avoid Tim Duncan as Andrew Bogut could give him fits. Another sleeper pick in this game is Ersan Ilyasova. If he gets minutes, he has the ability to produce. However, be aware that Drew Gooden could return for this game, which really kills Ilyasova’s value. Andrew Bogut isn’t a great start in this one, as Tim Duncan is always tough to deal with. San Antonio is on the second of a back to back.
Orlando -3.5 @ New Orleans (Total 190)
ORL Probable: Nelson, J. Richardson, Turkoglu, Bass, Howard
NOR Probable: Paul, Belinelli, Ariza, West, Okafor
Tourney Pick: Hedo Turkoglu ($6400) – Turkoglu has really turned it around since arriving back in Orlando. He put up 13pt/17ast/5stl in his last game. Another of those tourney picks with huge upside, which is perfect for a large field tourney.
Dwight Howard should dominate Emeka Okafor. I’d avoid Jameer Nelson as the Magic seem to be taking the ball out of his hands and putting it into the hands of Gilbert Arenas and Turkoglu. Jason Richardson could light it up from outside. This isn’t a great matchup for Chris Paul against one of the top rated defenses in the league. This could be a low scoring game.
Oklahoma City @ Houston (OFF)
OKC Probable: Westbrook, Sefolosha/Harden, Durant, Green, Krstic/Ibaka/Collison
HOU Probable: Lowery/Brooks, Martin, Battier, Scola, Miller/Hill
Tourney Pick: Aaron Brooks ($4500) – Another gross mispricing by Fanduel. Brooks stepped back into the starting lineup Monday and put up 24 points and 5 assists.
Luis Scola could post a nice line against the weak interior of the Thunder. Westbrook and Durant are excellent plays, but both are fairly expensive. I’d avoid all of the Thunder and Rocket centers.
New Jersey @ Phoenix (OFF)
NJN Probable: Harris, Farmar, Outlaw, Humphries, B. Lopez
PHO Probable: Nash, Carter, Hill, R. Lopez
Tourney Pick: Vince Carter ($6100) – Vince Carter is loving life right now and getting about 18 shot attempts a night fed to him by the master himself, Steve Nash. Expect another 17-19 shot attempts from Carter in this one. Jordan Farmar ($5200) also gets a mention as a nice sleeper if Devin Harris misses this game.
Check the game time status for Devin Harris since he missed his last game. Brook Lopez squares off against his brother Robin, so that should be an interesting matchup. Robin should be out to prove something. Kris Humphries continues to play well and could easily have been a tourney pick in this game. Steve Nash is also a solid pick since the Suns really need a win.
New York @ Utah -6.5 (Total 210.5)
NYK Probable: Felton, Fields, Chandler, Stoudemire, Turiaf
UTA Probable: D. Williams, Bell, Kirilenko, Millsap, Jefferson
Tourney Pick: C.J. Miles ($5500) – Miles is the 6th man in Utah, but he still gets about 25-28 minutes a night. He recently battled the flu and missed a few games, which really knocked his price down under the Fanduel pricing system. New York likes to run and Miles should get plenty of looks.
This is a great fantasy matchup with two fairly high scoring teams. Both D. Williams and Felton should rack up big totals. Al Jefferson could have a good line here against Ronny Turiaf. Amare Stoudemire is always a threat to go off and I don’t think Paul Millsap is going to be able to contain him. The Chandler/Kirilenko matchup is interesting and I think Wilson Chandler could get the best of it. Raymond Felton tweaked an ankle Tuesday, so check his game time status. NYK is on the second of a back to back.
LA Lakers @ Golden State (OFF)
LAL Probable: Fisher, Bryant, Artest, Odom/Bynum, P. Gasol
GSW Probable: Curry, Ellis, Wright, Lee, Biedrins
Tourney Pick: Stephen Curry ($6700) – Much like Rondo, his price has been very slow to return to normal after he missed some games with an injury. The Lakers should dominate this game, which could leave a lot of garbage time stats for Curry as the Warriors fight to stay in it.
I usually like Dorell Wright, but Ron Artest is the one guy who can shut him down, although there is a good chance the Lakers could choose to have Artest cover Monta Ellis. Pau Gasol is a must play in this one and could put up a huge line against the weak Golden State interior. David Lee could have a tough time with the Odom/Bynum tandem. Kobe Bryant is expensive and if this one gets out of hand, he’ll be on the bench in favor of Shannon Brown. Monta Ellis is recovering from the flu. The Lakers on the second of a back to back.
Miami -8 @ LA Clippers (194)
MIA Probable: Wade, James, Bosh and some other guys.
LAC Probable: Davis, E. Gordon, Gomes/Aminu, Griffin, Jordan
Tourney Pick: Baron Davis ($5900) – Another mispriced player on Fanduel. Davis has been heating up and should be motivated to have a good game against a team that I’m sure he’d like to be playing for. Davis has averaged 16 points and 8 assists over his last three games and will play 30+ minutes.
Wade and LeBron have been rolling and both should be good plays here. Eric Gordon should have a good line as the Clippers fight to keep it close. Blake Griffin gets matched up on Chris Bosh, which should be fun to watch. I think Griffin gets the best of this matchup, especially since the Heat are horrible at center. DeAndre Jordan is also a nice sleeper if you need a cheap center.
