Wednesday Tipp-Off

$3,500 FanDuel Slam Tourney Picks, Lineups and Injuries

ft_nba_slam

There are 10 games on the NBA schedule for the Wednesday night Fanduel Slam and I’ve handpicked a couple of low priced sleepers from each game to build your roster around. The 10 game board is a little smaller than the last few Slam Tourneys, so it’s definitely important to find some low priced, high upside options that will provide you with enough salary to choose from the shallow list of elite players at other positions. Orlando -5 @ Indiana (Total 199)

ORL Probable: Nelson, J. Richardson, Turkoglu, Bass/Anderson, Howard

IND Probable: Collison, Dunleavy/Rush/George, Granger, Hansbrough, Hibbert

Note that Danny Granger is dealing with a sore ankle and might not be a go for this one. Be sure to check his game time status.

Darren Collison (IND, $6600) – Collison has become one of the primary offensive options for the Pacers and could have an even larger role tonight if Danny Granger is slowed with his injured ankle. The Pacers aren’t going to score inside on Dwight Howard, so Collison could be launching more shots from outside than usual. He’s taken an average of 15 shots a game over his last five.

Hedo Turkoglu (ORL, $6600) – I thought about going with Ryan Anderson or Brandon Bass for the Magic, but Turkoglu could have the best matchup if Granger sits this one out.

Memphis -3 @ New Jersey (Total 191)

MEM Probable: Conley, Henry/Young/Mayo, Gay, Randolph, M. Gasol

NJN Probable: Harris, Morrow, Outlaw, Humphries, B. Lopez

Anthony Morrow (NJN, $4100) – Morrow is back from injury and his price is extremely low under the Fanduel pricing system. He got 26 minutes in his last game, hitting 6 of 12 shot attempts. He should get 15 attempts in this one.

Mike Conley (MEM, $6700) – I thought about going with Kris Humphries as my second sleeper from this game, but Zach Randolph might limit Humphries’ biggest value, which is rebounds. Conley has gone unnoticed this season, but he’s consistently putting up solid stats every night. Not a flashy pick, but this could be a higher scoring game than predicted.

Philadelphia -4 @ Toronto (Total 200)

PHI Probable: Holiday, Meeks/Williams, Iguodala, Brand, Hawes

TOR Probable: Calderon/Bayless, DeRozan, Kleiza, A. Johnson/Davis, Bargnani

Jerryd Bayless (TOR, $4700) – Jose Calderon missed his last game with the flu and might miss this one as well. Bayless got the start for Calderon on Monday and nearly put up a triple-double with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists.

DeMar DeRozan (TOR, $6700) – He’s been on fire lately scoring 24.4 points a game over his last five. Combine that with about 4 rebounds and a couple of steals and you have quite a bargain for $6700.

Denver -2.5 @ Detroit (Total 203.5)

DEN Probable: Billups, Afflalo, Anthony, Harrington, Nene

DET Probable: McGrady, Stuckey, Prince, Daye, Monroe/Wallace

Tracy McGrady (DET, $5700) – McGrady put up 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in his last game and he gets a matchup tonight against a Denver club who is on the second of back to backs and might be a little tired. He has the potential for a big line at a very cheap price.

Chauncey Billups (DEN, $6800) – Billups barely squeezes under my $7000 sleeper limit and he always has the potential go off, especially against a player who has lost a step like McGrady. Billups is averaging 15.9 points and 5.3 assists this season and you know his minutes are guaranteed. A safe play with some upside.

Atlanta -2 @ Milwaukee (Total 180.5)

ATL Probable: Bibby, J. Johnson, M. Williams, J. Smith, Horford

MIL Probable: Dooling, Douglas-Roberts, Maggette, Ilyasova, Bogut

Al Horford and Marvin Williams both missed Atlanta’s last game with injuries, but they are both probable for tonight. Be safe and check the game time status if you use them. John Salmons will probably miss this one.

Chris Douglas-Roberts (MIL, $5000)CDR went off in his last game for 30 points and he should get the start if John Salmons misses this one with his hip injury. Nothing is guaranteed with Douglas-Roberts, but the big upside is there.

Keyon Dooling (MIL, $5400) – Dooling has done a great job running the Bucks offense while Brandon Jennings recovers from injury. He’s averaged 13.2 points and 6.0 assists over his last six games and has a decent matchup against the weak defense of Mike Bibby.

Jamal Crawford ($6400) – Joe Johnson sat out Monday’s practice with a sore knee, so Crawford could get a little more time than usual if Johnson runs into problems. Crawford can put up a big line when he’s hot. This becomes an even better sleeper pick if Johnson misses this game.

Oklahoma City -5 @ Minnesota (Total 220.5)

OKC Probable: Westbrook, Sefolosha/Harden, Durant, Green, Krstic/Ibaka/Collison

MIN Probable: Ridnour, W. Johnson/C.Brewer, Beasley, Love, Milicic

Darko Milicic (MIN, $6200) – I rarely play Darko, but this is a matchup against a weak Oklahoma City interior that Milicic can exploit. There is some upside here.

Michael Beasley (MIN, $7100) – I’m going to step $100 above my sleeper cutoff limit for Beasley because I just can’t pick a second sleeper choice from this game. Beasley missed a couple of games and his price really dropped under the Fanduel pricing system, which makes him a steal. He’s averaged 17 shot attempts in his last two games and should be good for a solid line if he can stay out of foul trouble.

LA Clippers @ Houston (OFF)

LAC Probable: Davis, Foye, Gomes/Aminu, Griffin, Jordan

HOU Probable: Lowery/Brooks, Martin, Battier, Scola, Hayes

Blake Griffin injured his elbow Tuesday night, but it appears to be minor and he should play. Be sure to check his game time status before starting him.

Chuck Hayes (HOU, $5300) – Bargains at the center spot are hard to find, but Hayes definitely qualifies. He flirted with a triple-double in his last game and could easily put up a double-double in this one.

Randy Foye (LAC, $4000) – Eric Gordon is likely out a couple of weeks for the Clippers and Foye got the start last night at SG. He put up 15 points on 5 of 9 shooting with 1 rebound and 4 assists. He could put up something similar against the Rockets, maybe better.

Charlotte @ Phoenix -5.5 (Total 201)

Article Image

CHA Probable: Augustin, Jackson, Wallace, Diaw, Mohammed

PHO Probable: Nash, Carter, Hill, Frye, R. Lopez/M. Gortat

D.J. Augustin (CHA, $6900) – Augustin is playing some great basketball right now and gets a matchup against the weak defense of Steve Nash and a running Phoenix club. Augustin has scored 20 and 31 points in his last two and could hit 20 in this one.

Vince Carter (PHO, $6600) – I know he’s been terrible over his last couple of games, but the upside is always huge with Carter.

Grant Hill (PHO, $6600) – Missed a couple of games with an injury, which dropped his price under the Fanduel system. Since returning, he’s averaged 17.7 points a game over his last six. Maybe he just needed a few games off to get recharged.

San Antonio -3 @ Utah (198.5)

SAS Probable: Parker, Ginobili, Jefferson, Blair, Duncan

UTA Probable: D. Williams, Bell, Kirilenko/Miles, Millsap, Jefferson

Tim Duncan suffered a minor knee injury in his last game, so be sure to check his game time status tonight just to make sure he’s full strength.

C.J. Miles (UTA, $5700) – Miles got the start last night for Utah and put up 14pts/4reb/5ast with 3 steals. He should get the start again tonight and makes a nice play.

DeJuan Blair (SAS, $6100) – Blair is extremely inconsistent, but he has the potential for big lines. He’s gone 4pt/4reb, 7pt/6reb, 18pt/13reb, 22pt/11reb, 3pt/4reb and 18pt/13reb in his last six games. How lucky do you feel for $6100?

New Orleans @ Golden State (OFF)

NOR Probable: Paul, Belinelli, Ariza, West, Okafor

GSW Probable: Curry/Williams, Ellis, Wright, Lee, Biedrins

Stephen Curry suffered an ankle injury at practice on Tuesday and might miss this one.

Reggie Williams (GSW, $5400) – If Curry does miss, Williams becomes a very attractive sleeper pick. Williams filled in for Curry earlier this season and averaged 20.0 points a game in those seven starts. He’s got some upside at a great price.

Trevor Ariza (NOR, $6600) – I couldn’t really find a second sleeper in this game, but I’m going to throw Ariza out there anyway. He’s got a great matchup against a high scoring Warrior team with an extremely weak defense. Ariza can get hot and there’s no better opponent to fatten up your stats than the Warriors.

Good luck tonight and be sure to check the wire for any news that develops during the day.
