Wednesday Tipp-Off: Fanduel Slam Sleeper Picks

I’m back from 10 days away from the computer and ready for some Wednesday Fanduel Slam action! I’ve researched tonight’s 12 game NBA schedule and put together a list of cheap salary, high upside guys in the $7000 and under range to round out the roster after you‘ve spent big on those elite studs. With this being the last big day before the All-Star break, it might be a good idea to double check the status on players with questionable health who could get the night off for an extra long rest. Also, thanks Cameron for pinch hitting for me last week!

Point Guard

Luke Ridnour (MIN, $5400) – The Timberwolves don’t seem to be too happy with Jonny Flynn right now. Ridnour got the better side of the timeshare on Monday getting 35 minutes to Flynn’s 13 minutes. Ridnour should get 30+ minutes again tonight.

Brandon Jennings (MIL, $5900) – Jennings is finally getting healthy and increasing his minutes. He’s averaged 34.2 minutes over his last 5 games. Along with the increased minutes, he’s managed nearly 16 shot attempts over his last 5. Great matchup against a fast paced Denver team.

Randy Foye (LAC, $6000) – This could be his last game filling in for Eric Gordon and I expect he might take a few liberties with the shot attempts in his last start. He should have one of his better games against a high scoring Minnesota team.

Darren Collison (IND, $6600) – Collison has been a larger focus of the Pacer offense lately getting about 12.2 shot attempts over his last 5 games. He’s averaged 22.8 FD fantasy points over those 5 games, going for 27, 25, 24, 26 FD points, and one off game for 11 FD points. He went 1-11 last night, so hopefully the clunker is out of the way and he’s ready for a big game.

Beno Udrih (SAC, $6600) – Tyreke Evans could miss tonight’s game, which makes a Udrih a much better play than usual. Most of Udrih’s biggest games have come with Evans on the bench.

Shooting Guard

John Salmons (MIL, $5400) – Salmons is back playing heavy minutes since returning from injury, averaging 37.2 minutes per game over his last 5. He’s also starting to click on offense with 13.2 shot attempts and 5 assists per game over that span. Corey Maggette and Ersan Ilyasova might miss this one, so expect Salmons to get some extra looks.

Carlos Delfino (MIL, $5800) – Delfino is an all or nothing type player, which is a great pick for a large field tourney. He put up 32 and 42 FD points in his last two games, so the potential for a big night is there.

C.J. Miles (UTA, $5900) – Andrei Kirilenko could miss tonight’s game and Miles should get the start. He’s played 36 and 40 minutes in his last two games putting up 32 and 23 FD points.

Wesley Matthews (POR, $6600) – Matthews has played a whopping 42.6 minutes per game over his last five and that trend should continue against the Hornets. Matthews has talent, and with those kind of minutes he’s guaranteed to pick up some nice stats. There is some rumor that Brandon Roy might play, but it shouldn’t cut too much into Matthews’ time.

Nick Young (WAS, $6900) – Young has taken 21, 10, 19, 17 and 20 shots in his last five games. He gets plenty of opportunity, which is all you can ask of a low priced pick.

Small Forward

Martell Webster (MIN, $5100) – Michael Beasley is still hurting, so Webster could get some extra run. He got 35 minutes Monday and put up 17pts/6reb/3ast.

Tracy McGrady (DET, $6000) – McGrady is enjoying a his time in Detroit and has gotten some decent run over the last five games, averaging a little over 25 minutes a night. He’s put up two good games in a row with 22 and 29 FD points.

Danilo Gallinari (NYK, $6400) – Gallinari runs hot and cold, but he’s been getting 35.8 minutes per game over his last five, so the opportunity is definitely there for a good line.

DeMar DeRozan (TOR, $6900) – DeRozan is almost out of my sub $7000 sleeper range, but that’s a testament to how well he’s been playing. He’s averaging 19.4 points on 15 shot attempts over his last five games. Someone has to score for the Raptors and there’s a great possibility for some big garbage time stats if this game gets out of hand.

Power Forward

Jordan Hill (HOU, $4400) – Hill missed several games with an injury, but in his two games since returning he’s put up 26 and 28 FD points, which is a great bargain for just $4400.

Hedo Turkoglu (ORL, $6300) – He’s very inconsistent, but can have some big games. Rashard Lewis might miss this one for the Wizards, which would provide Turkoglu with a good matchup. Definitely a gamble.

Wilson Chandler (NYK, $6300) – Chandler has been getting jerked around the Knicks lineup, but he produces when given the minutes. Chandler becomes an even better play if Amare misses this game for New York.

J.J. Hickson (CLE, $7000) – Hickson has a tough matchup, but he’s likely to pick up some big garbage time stats when this one becomes a blowout. He could put up 40+ FD points.

Center

Kendrick Perkins (BOS, $6400) – Perkins will match up on Brook Lopez, which should provide a good opportunity for a big rebounding night for Perk. Shaq is also still out for the Celtics, so Perkins might get the chance to log some heavy minutes.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas (MIA, $4800) – Ilgauskas has quietly been having a solid season for the Heat. He had a nice 15 FD point game last night and has a great matchup against a weak rebounding Raptors club, which could result in another nice line.

Roy Hibbert (IND, $7000) – The recent coaching change in Indiana has really helped Hibbert. He seems to be getting back on track and even had a 44 FD point game in last week’s Slam. He’s got some upside if you want to gamble.

Darko Milicic (MEM, $5700) – Darko had a good game in his return from a hip injury putting up 25 FD points on Monday night. He’s got a good matchup against DeAndre Jordan.

Good luck tonight and be sure to check the injury news since all of these picks are selected early Wednesday morning.
