Wednesday Tipp-Off: Quick Picks
Wednesday Tipp-Off: Quick Picks
Here are fantasy previews and picks for all 12 games on the Wednesday NBA schedule. Please check the newswire throughout the day to make sure there aren’t any surprises.
Memphis @ Atlanta
MEM Probable: Conley, Henry/Mayo, Gay, Randolph, M. Gasol
ATL Probable: Bibby, Johnson, Williams, J. Smith, Horford
O.J. Mayo has recently been benched, so stay away from him in this one. Joe Johnson is dealing with some minor elbow pain, so check his pregame status. Jamal Crawford would likely get the start if JJ can’t go. I like Mike Conley against the weak defense of Mike Bibby. Josh Smith could contain Zach Randolph, while Al Horford and M. Gasol matchup pretty evenly inside. Rudy Gay should have an average game. Memphis is on the second of back to backs, so fatigue could be an issue.
Oklahoma City @ New Jersey
OKC Probable: Westbrook, Sefolosha, Durant, Green, Krstic/Ibaka
NJN Probable: Harris, Morrow, Outlaw, Humphries, B. Lopez
Kris Humphries has been a great cheap play and should earn his low salary against a weak OKC interior. You can’t go wrong with Russell Westbrook or Kevin Durant. Thabo Sefolosha plays excellent defense, so don’t expect anything out of Morrow. Westbrook can contain Harris. Brook Lopez could have a big game against the pairing of Nenad Krstic and Serge Ibaka.
Washington @ Toronto
WAS Probable: Wall/Arenas, Hinrich, Gee, Blatche, McGee
TOR Probable: Calderon, DeRozan, Weems/Kleiza, A. Johnson, Bargnani
John Wall missed his last game and could miss this one as well, so check his game time status. If Wall misses, Arenas becomes an excellent play. Andray Blatche should be able to have a good game with Reggie Evans out with a broken foot. JaVale McGee came off the bench in his last one due to a sore back, but I think he probably moves back into the starting lineup and has a great matchup against a weak rebounding Bargnani. Nick Young could also be a nice sleeper here with Al Thornton banged up.
Portland @ Boston
POR Probable: Miller, Roy, Matthews, Aldridge, Camby
BOS Probable: Rondo, Allen, Pierce, Garnett, Shaq
Brandon Roy is on the second of a back to back, so be careful starting him. Nicolas Batum has been moved to the bench in favor of Wes Matthews. Rondo is dealing with some foot soreness, but should be good to go. Shaq is still cheaply priced and he’s been putting up some good fantasy scores. Andre Miller hasn’t shown much this year and his matchup isn’t good against a strong defense of Rondo.
Orlando @ Chicago
ORL Probable: Nelson, Carter, Richardson, Lewis, Howard
CHI Probable: Rose, Bogans, Deng, Boozer/Gibson, Noah
There is a chance that Carlos Boozer plays in this one, but I wouldn’t expect too much in his first game back. Noah will probably have some difficulty with Howard, so much of the scoring will fall to Derrick Rose. Deng could also have a nice game, especially if this one turns into a blowout with Chicago trying to catch up. Vince Carter has been a little gimpy with a bad knee, so avoid him.
Detroit @ Miami
DET Probable: Stuckey, Hamilton, Prince, Maxiell, Wallace
MIA Probable: Arroyo, Wade, James, Bosh, Ilgauskas
The only player I would consider from Detroit would be Rodney Stuckey and even he isn’t that great of a play. Wade, James and Bosh should produce, but you probably already knew that. Ilgauskas had been a good cheap play, but the arrival of Erick Dampier might cut into his minutes.
Charlotte @ New Orleans
CHA Probable: Augustin, Wallace, Diaw, Mohammed
NOR Probable: Paul, Belinelli, Ariza, West, Okafor
Stephen Jackson has been suspended for this game. Gerald Wallace is dealing with some elbow soreness and might be a risky play. That pretty much leaves D. J. Augustin as the only source of offense for the Bobcats. David West has been hot and should be a nice play if he is fully recovered from getting poked in the eye in his last game. Check his game time status just to be safe. Okafor has a good matchup, but he’s very inconsistent.
Minnesota @ Dallas
MIN Probable: Ridnour, W. Johnson, Beasley, Love, Milicic
DAL Probable: Kidd, Stevenson, Butler, Nowitzki, Chandler
Beasley and Love are good starts for Minnesota and Milicic is worth a shot if you want to gamble a little. Stevenson is cheap, but he’s not even worth the low salary. Dirk Nowitzki should have an average game while Chandler probably won’t do much against Darko.
Milwaukee @ Denver
MIL Probable: Jennings, Salmons, Ilyasova, Brockman
DEN Probable: Billups, Afflalo, Anthony, Williams, Nene
Milwaukee has been decimated with injuries to Gooden, Bogut, Delfino and Maggette. I saw several guys try to go with Salmons in the last game and they got burned badly (Editor’s Note: Thanks for the shout out Tippy!) . Jennings is the only play for Milwaukee. I like Nene in this one with Bogut and Gooden both out. Hopefully Carmelo is over his, umm, intestinal problem.
Indiana @ Utah
IND Probable: Collison, Rush, Granger, McRoberts, Hibbert
UTA Probable: D. Williams, Bell, Kirilenko, Millsap, Jefferson
Deron Williams is always a must start if you have the salary space. Millsap has a decent matchup, but Hibbert and Jefferson could be fairly evenly matched. Granger is a risky pick here, as Kirilenko has the ability to cover him on the perimeter.
San Antonio @ LA Clippers
SAS Probable: Parker, Ginobili, Jefferson, Blair, Duncan
LAC Probable: Bledsoe, Gordon, Aminu, Griffin, Jordan
The Spurs have been cutting Tim Duncan’s minutes in back to backs, so be careful with him. Parker and Ginobili should both be good starts. Eric Gordon can always light it up while Blake Griffin can also get hot, especially if Duncan sits out some of this one.
LA Lakers @ Houston
LAL Probable: Fisher, Bryant, Artest, Odom, P. Gasol
HOU Probable: Lowery, Martin, Battier, Scola, Hayes
This one could be a blowout, so be careful spending a lot of salary on the Lakers. If you do go Lakers, Gasol should be the best play with Chuck Hayes at Center for the Rockets. Ron Artest could get matched on Kevin Martin, so be careful starting Martin. I like Scola, but he has really been burning me lately by getting into early foul trouble. Some of the Rockets could get some big garbage time stats if this one gets out of hand.
Good luck tonight and remember to check the newswire for the game time status of all players.
