Week 1 NFL Injury Breakdown

Injuries can play a crucial role in your season long leagues and some of the same waiver wire concepts apply in DFS as well. RotoGrinders will have a weekly injury report highlighting the key injuries across the league and possible value plays that can pop up because of them.

Quarterback

Cam Newton – Questionable
The Panthers have officially labeled Newton a game time decision for the game this week against the Buccaneers. Make sure to check the reports for Cam on Sunday closer to game time if you are putting him in your lineups. If he cannot go then Derek Anderson will get the start who is too much of a risk for me even at minimum pricing.

Tom Brady – Questionable
This is just your typical Bill Belichick injury report games. He is 100% a go for the opener tomorrow.

Tony Romo Probable
Romo is listed as probable with his back. There is no doubt he plays and can be plugged in your lineups.

Running Back

Andre Ellington – Questionable
Ellington is officially a gametime decision but word has spread that he could miss as much as 6 weeks if he has surgery on his foot. Jonathan Dwyer would become the #1 back in Arizona and is extremely cheap everywhere but does not offer the same upside as Ellington.

Bernard Pierce – Probable
Pierce is a go for week 1 in a matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.

LeSean McCoy – Probable
He is listed as probable with a thumb injury but there was never a doubt that Shady will be running wild tomorrow.

Wide Receiver

Cecil Shorts – Out
Cecil Shorts has been ruled out for week 1 against the Eagles. This is an interesting injury as it could provide us with a lot of value at the WR spot. The Jags will likely be down in the 2nd half and throwing a lot which means someone has to receive the ball. My favorite guy to target is Marqise Lee who should see the ball thrown his way quite a few times.

Lance Moore – Out
Moore has been ruled out of the Steelers game against the Browns this week with a groin injury. This is an interesting injury as I don’t think the immediate value is at WR but instead I like TE Heath Miller to see a slight bump up.

Kenny Stills – Out
Stills has been ruled out for week 1 with a quadriceps injury. People are falling in love with Brandin Cooks who will be 3rd on the depth chart but should see plenty of action from the slot in this game.

Michael Crabtree – Questionable :
Listed as questionable but likely will play. Make sure to keep an eye on this one.

Sammy Watkins – Probable :
He is likely to play but we have to question how long he will last with the nagging rib injury.

Reggie Wayne – Probable :
Wayne will play and should see plenty of targets in this one.

Allen Robinson – Probable :
He will play but it remains to be seen what his role is after missing all of the pre season.

Emmanuel Sanders – Probable :
Sanders will play and will be very highly owned with Wes Welker serving a suspension.

Kennan Allen – Probable :
Allen will play and should be a main focus of the offense again this season.

Terrance Williams – Probable :
Williams likely will play but you need to keep an eye on this even with the probable tag.

Riley Cooper – Probable :
He has been dealing with an ankle issue all pre season and will play.

Larry Fitzgerald – Probable :
Fitz will play and seems to be overlooked slightly with the emergence of Floyd.

Tight End

Antonio Gates – Questionable
Gates is a game time decision as he deals with a hamstring issue. Let the official Ladarius Green love fest begin if Gates is indeed ruled out for the game. If you read just about any fantasy football articles then you know the supreme talent he possesses and the matchup is a great one.

rob-gronkowski-300x200

Rob Gronkowski – Questionable
Although he is officially listed as questionable he is likely to play. The real question is how limited will he be and how much does that affect his value with his current salary tag. I think he offers us a great GPP option as one of Bradys favorite targets even in limited time he can do some real damage.

Jordan Reed – Questionable : Reed is questionable with a thumb injury but will play.
