Week 16 Kings: QBs & RBs
Quarterback
Peyton Manning ($8,400) – It was not too long ago that Peyton Manning was the consensus top overall fantasy quarterback in the NFL. However, after a few down performances, people are now starting to question that title. Peyton has received a steady price drop all the way down to $8400, and for that reason, I think Peyton is definitely in play this week. The Monday night game between Denver and Cincinnati has a very decent over/under of 47.5. Check out our NFL Vegas Lines Page for a comprehensive listing of the over/unders.
Drew Brees ($8,300) – Drew Brees makes for a great Week 16 play at the QB position for a couple reasons. First off, the game between New Orleans and Atlanta possesses the highest over/under of the week at 56. This game certainly has some shootout potential and makes for a great DFS target. Secondly, the Saints are currently sitting in first place with their 6-8 record, which means they have a ton to play for. And lastly, Drew Brees and the Saints have historically played much better at home.
Mark Sanchez ($6,200) – Sanchez has a great price for a guy that is responsible for running one of the most potent offenses in the NFL. At $6,200, Sanchez make for a great week 16 value play against the very weak pass defense of the Washington Redskins. Throughout the season the Redskins have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing running backs. Sanchez is an excellent week 16 value quarterback play.
Tom Brady ($8,000) – Bill Belichick has made a career out of exposing his opponent’s weaknesses. If you have done any research throughout this NFL season, you would know that the Jets have a very strong run defense, but they are very vulnerable against the pass. Tom Brady and the Patriots offense will air the ball out early and often and makes for a very solid week 16 play.
GPP
Tony Romo ($7,300) – The Colts/Cowboys game features the second highest over/under of the week at 55. This game has some serious shootout potential as both teams possess very potent offenses. Romo is cash game playable, however I think he makes for a great GPP play.
Running Backs
Le’Veon Bell ($9,800) – Unlike last week, I do not think that it is a necessity to spend up at the running back position. All the top guys either have some injury concerns or very difficult match-ups. The Chiefs are thought of as having a very solid all around defense, however they are allowing 4.9 yards per carry which is tied for worst in the NFL. Bell is the hottest running back in the NFL and makes for a solid play if you are looking to spend at the position.
C.J. Anderson ($6,900) – Anderson has been a very busy running back with at least 25 carries in his last three games. The match-up this week is very elite against the Bengals who rank as one of the worst teams in terms of stopping the run (28th in the NFL). Anderson has a very solid price on DK at $6,900, which makes him a very solid play this week.
LeSean McCoy ($6,300) – At this point in the season, you either believe that McCoy is a better running back than the way he has performed this season or you do not. The Eagles should have no problem getting a lead in this game versus the helpless Redskins, therefore the running opportunities will be there for McCoy. Philadelphia is projected to score right around 28 points in this game, and at $6,300, McCoy should easily be able to pay off his tag.
Tre Mason ($4,600) – After Mason’s explosive 40 fantasy point performance a few weeks back, he has disappointed in some rather difficult match-ups. This week, however, the match-up is much easier against the 22nd ranked run defense of the New York Giants. I really like Mason to get back on track this week and at $4,600, the risk is very minimal.
GPP
Matt Forte ($8,700) – Matt Forte draws a very tough match-up with the solid defense of the Detroit Lions. The Bears have decided to turn their QB duties over to Jimmy Clausen, which leads me to believe that they will rely heavily on Matt Forte. Even in this tough match-up, Forte is capable of a very big game, due to his activity in the passing game. I like Forte as a GPP only play.
