Week 2 NFL Injury Breakdown

Injuries can play a crucial role in your season long leagues and some of the same waiver wire concepts apply in DFS as well. RotoGrinders will have a weekly injury report highlighting the key injuries across the league and possible value plays that can pop up because of them.

Quarterback

Shaun Hill (Thigh) – Questionable
He was able to practice on a limited basis Friday and will fly with the team to Tampa. If he is unable to go then Austin Davis will be thrown into the starting lineup and the Bucs defense will see the biggest bump. There is no reason to roster either of the Rams QB at this point.

Carson Palmer (Shoulder) – Questionable
Palmer has been limited all week with a shoulder issue that is bothering the veteran QB. Bruce Arians said that he did not throw much during the week but he does think he will play. If you are considering him for your lineup this week it will be best to check back prior to game time tomorrow for confirmation.

Cam Newton (Ribs) – Probable: Newton has practiced all week and will be the Panthers starter against the Lions.
Tony Romo (Back) – Probable: Romo has practiced all week and will be the Cowboys starter against the Titans.

Running Back

Ben Tate (Knee) – Out
Tate has been ruled out and has stated he is targeting a week 5 return. Terrance West will get the bulk of the carries and was effective in week 1 against the Steelers rushing 16 times for 100 yards.

DeAngelo Williams (Thigh) – Questionable
As the week went on it was becoming more apparent that Williams is less likely to play this week. He was only able to get some running in on Friday and was still feeling pain. Jonathan Stewart will see a big bump with Williams out but don’t sleep on Tolbert who should get the ball down near the goal line especially with Newton nursing a rib injury.

Maurice Jones-Drew (Hand) – Questionable
This is an odd situation in that the coach is claiming he might play but the offensive coordinator isn’t expecting it. It looks pretty safe that he is out and both Darren McFadden and Latavius Murray will both see time in the backfield against a stout Houston defense.

Andre Ellington (Foot) – Questionable
Ellington has said himself that he is good to go this week against the Giants. It looks safe to plug him in your lineups but be sure to check back prior to game time for confirmation.

Doug Martin (Knee) – Questionable
He was able to practice Thursday and Friday and looks well on his way to playing this week against St. Louis. Lovie Smith has said the Bucs will stay committed to the running game moving forward and reassured everyone that Martin is the lead man.

Eddie Lacy (Concussion) – Probable: Lacy was cleared and practiced this week. He will be the Packers starter.
Arian Foster (Ribs) – Probable: Foster practiced all week and will start against the Raiders in a great matchup.
Reggie Bush (Knee) – Probable: After limited practice Wednesday he was a full participant the rest of the week.
Knowshon Moreno (Shoulder) – Probable: He has been limited in practice this week but that will likely be a reoccurring theme.
Toby Gerhart (Ankle) – Probable: Officially listed as probable for week 2 after missing some practice this week.
Ahmad Bradshaw (General Soreness) – Probable: He is good to go for Monday night and saw more snaps than Richardson in week 1.

Wide Receiver

Brandon Marshall (Ankle) – Questionable
Marshall will be a game time decision for the Sunday night matchup with the 49ers. This is a tough one because it comes in the late game which you likely have to avoid on Fanduel except for a risky GPP squad. At Draftkings you should be able to pivot to the high scoring Monday night game pretty easy. If Marshall and Jeffery are out then Santio Holmes will see the biggest bump in their receiving corp.

Alshon Jeffery (Hamstring) – Questionable
Jeffery is also a game time decision after practicing on a limited basis Friday. We are in the exact same situation as Marshall with this being the Sunday night game. Our best hope is that they release info earlier in the day but don’t hold your breath for that.

Roddy White (Knee) – Probable: He will likely hold the probable tag much of the season with his offseason knee drain and wear during games but is good to go.
Sammy Watkins (Ribs) – Probable: Still not 100% but will play. He wasn’t fantasy relevant week 1.
Mike Wallace (Hamstring) – Probable: Was limited this week but more precautionary than anything. Saw 11 targets week 1 and will be a big part of the offense.
Justin Hunter (Knee) – Probable: Dealing with a knee issue but is good to go for week 2.
Dwayne Bowe (Quad) – Probable: Bowe sat out week 1 due to suspension and will play this week.
Kenny Stills (Quad) – Probable: Even with a probable tag this one needs to be monitored as Stills didn’t exactly instill confidence when asked about his availability.
A.J. Green (Foot) – Probable: He is good to go according to Marvin Lewis and has a great matchup with the Falcons.
Keenan Allen (Ribs) – Probable: Has not missed any practice and should be a go.
Terrance Williams (Back) – Probable: Was full participant in practice and is good to go.
Andre Johnson (Ankle) – Probable: Despite being limited he is in no danger of missing this game.
Marqise Lee (Hamstring) – Probable: Lee pulled his hamstring in practice on Wednesday but looks like he is going to play this week.

Tight End

Jordan Reed (Hamstring) – Out
Reed has been ruled out this week with a hamstring injury. Niles Paul is a converted WR that should see some of the targets that Reed would have gotten. It is probably best to wait and see how they adjust without one of their better offensive weapons.

Austin Seferian-Jenkins (Foot) – Out
Jenkins has been ruled out this week with a foot injury. There is no real upside with the Bucaneers backup Brandon Meyers especially against a Rams defense that has played the TE position well.

Jordan Cameron (Shoulder) – Questionable
There seems to be some confusion here with Cameron. Coach Pettine has said he is holding out hope for Cameron this week despite the fact that he has not practiced at all. The good news is this game is an early one so we should know prior to lock what we need to do. If he is unable to go I think an already heavily targeted Andrew Hawkins is the beneficiary.

Antonio Gates (Hamstring) – Probable: Full participant on Friday and will start this week in a tough matchup with the Seahawks.
Brandon Pettigrew (Foot) – Probable: Limited Wednesday but was a full participant on Thursday and Friday. He is good to go.
Garrett Graham (Back) – Probable: He will play after missing week 1 with a back injury.
Rob Gronkowski (Knee) – Probable: He was still limited some this week in practice but did see his tag upgraded to probable and will likely be more involved this week.
Charles Clay (Knee) – Probable: Limited in practice this week as he continues to have knee issues. He is probable and should be a go.
Marcedes Lewis (Hamstring) – Probable: Full participant on Thursday after being limited on Wednesday. He is good to go and had 9 targets week 1.
