Week 7 Kings: WRs & TEs
Wide Receivers
Jordy Nelson ($8200) – I do not think it as an absolute necessity to spend up at the WR position with all the available value plays at the position this week. However, if you choose to do so, Jordy Nelson is the guy you want. Jordy Nelson is the second most targeted wide receiver and has one of the best QBs in the game throwing him the ball. Note: For a complete listing of the target leaders coming into Week 7, check out our NFL Targets page. The Green Bay Packers have a very high team total of 28, which adds to the allure of Nelson.
Brandon Marshall ($6300) – I really liked Marshall last week and I feel the same again this week at the same price. After a few disappointing weeks, Marshall produced a solid 113 yard, six reception performance last week. The Bears are going to make a concerted effort to keep Marshall involved in the pass game and at $6300, he is a great bargain. Brandon Marshall is a top five wide receiver that is currently priced as the 14th most expensive WR.
Golden Tate ($5900) – Golden Tate was somewhat of a disappointment last week, totaling only 44 yards on seven receptions. I expect a full bounce back this week against a very shaky Saints defense. The Saints are currently surrendering the fourth most fantasy points to the WR position at 27+ per game. With Calvin Johnson most likely sidelined again this week, Golden Tate will maintain his WR1 status and you can expect a heavy dose of targets.
Odell Beckham Jr. ($3800) – With the season ending injury to Victor Cruz, all members of the Giants passing game will be asked to do much more. Beckham will slide in to the WR2 position and will receive a very healthy number of snaps and targets. When the Giants travel to Dallas on Sunday, they will enter the game as a sizeable underdog (currently 6), meaning the Giants will need to rely on the pass to stay in the contest. Beckham makes for a great play at $800 above the minimum.
GPP
Antonio Brown ($7900) – Antonio Brown will be under owned this week due to a perceived tough match-up with a solid Texans secondary. Brown is the most consistent WR in the NFL and appears to be a match-up proof player. I am expecting a big bounce back from the entire Steelers team after an awful week 6 performance against the Browns. Brown clearly has big game potential making him a great GPP play.
Tight End
Julius Thomas ($6900) – Julius Thomas is the safest player at the tight end position. Thomas really should be priced in line with the most expensive wide receivers and he is not. Thomas has a TD in each and every game this season, totaling an insane nine scores. With Peyton Manning throwing him the football, Julius Thomas is in play every week.
Martellus Bennett ($5100) – At $5100, Martellus Bennett makes for a great value play. Over the course of the first six weeks of the season, Martellus has been a very steady producer. Bennett is currently the most targeted tight end in the NFL with 36 targets. The Miami Dolphins rank as a mediocre team at defending the tight ends, Bennett is a top five tight end this week.
Jordan Reed ($5000) – Jordan Reed came back from an injury last week and wasted no time reinserting himself into the offense. Reed caught eight of his eleven targets for 92 yards. Throughout his short career, Kirk Cousins has been a QB that loves targeting his tight ends. The Tennessee Titans have a very vulnerable defense all around and are currently surrendering the eighth most fantasy points to tight ends.
GPP
Jermaine Gresham ($3500) – I would not really consider Gresham for cash games, but for GPPs I like the upside. With AJ Green out last week, Gresham converted seven targets into six catches for 68 yards. Green will most likely be sidelined again this week, which leaves a big opportunity for the rest of the offense.
