Week 9 Kings: QBs & RBs
Quarterbacks
Tom Brady ($8400) – Peyton Manning obviously makes a great play as well, just like every other week, however I am looking to the other side of the ball in this match-up. Tom Brady has been lights out ever since the full return (not limited) of Rob Gronkowski. Over the last three games, Brady has averaged 325 passing yards and four TDs. Additionally, Denver has showed some vulnerability defending QBs as they have given up the eighth most FPs to the position.
Colin Kapernick – ($7000) – Kaepernick has had an up and down type of season, however the floor on him is relatively high due to his ability to run. His best game of the season came against the Rams on Monday night football a couple weeks back (343 yards, three TDs and 37 rushing yards), and will now have the opportunity to match that production again this week when the Rams travel to San Francisco. I love the match-up and the price on Kaepernick this week.
Andy Dalton ($6300) – Here is the standard recommendation to play guys against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This strategy has not worked out so well the past few weeks due to Jacksonville’s ineptitude on the offensive side of the ball, where they have continually allowed teams to score defensive TDs. These defensive TDs have really taken the opposing offensives out of the game early. A defensive TD is a rare occurrence and something you cannot plan for, Jacksonville still has one of the worst defenses in all of football and Dalton makes for a great value play.
Other plays to consider: Calson Palmer ($6800), Joe Flacco ($6100)
GPP
Nick Foles ($7700) – Nick Foles got back on track last week with a 411 yard, two TD performance against the Cardinals. The match-up against Houston is somewhat difficult; however I really believe that this game has some shootout potential in it. The Eagles are going to do everything in their power to take Arian Foster out of the game, which makes sense because he has been their entire offense the past few weeks. If successful, this game will turn into a much faster paced affair and result in more possessions for the Eagle potent offense.
Running Backs
Arian Foster ($9900) – The price is clearly very prohibitive, but if you can find a way to make it fit I would definitely recommend doing so. Foster has been doing his best to keep up with the torrid pace of DeMarco Murray and has actually performed better than him as of late. In the past four games, Foster has not finished with less than 23.5 Draftkings FPs. He looks to be fully healthy and currently possess a very high floor. The match-up against the Eagles is great as well due to the extra possessions the Texans will receive.
Jamaal Charles ($7100) – Jamaal Charles is priced much too low on Draftkings. The match-up against the Jets run defense appears to be difficult, however they have not faced a top ten running back yet this season. Charles had a great game last week against St. Louis, who was perceived to have a tough run defense. At a position without a ton of appealing options this week, it makes sense to lock in the discounted price of Charles.
Ronnie Hillman ($5600) – New England has actually struggled quite a bit against the run this season; they are surrendering the fourth most FPs to RBs at 22 per game. Hillman has surprised just about everyone with his performance since the injury to Monte Ball. Over this three game span, Hillman has not finished with less than 17.5 DK points. The game with the Patriots has the highest O/U of the week at 54.5, Hillman will have another opportunity to produce a solid game and I like his chances.
Jeremy Hill ($4000) – Giovanni Bernard has not practiced at all this week, if for some reason he sits out this week, you will want to roster Jeremy Hill. Even if Bernard plays, I think Hill will get a healthy workload in this game due to the ease of their opponent. The Bengals are currently listed as 11.5 point favorites and I see no reason that the Bengals will push Bernard this week.
GPP
Marshawn Lynch ($6100) – This is just about the lowest price that I’ve ever seen on Lynch, but I suppose that is what three straight games with less than ten DK points will get you. This is kind of a now or never situation for Lynch, and the match-up does not get much better than one against the Raiders defense. Lynch is very capable of a three TD performance, as we’ve seen many times in the past. I would not play Lynch in cash games but don’t mind taking the gamble in GPPs
