2024 ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP Forecast and Projections

We’re teeing off for the ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP in Japan. Like nearly everything in Japan, the weather is lovely.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts. With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another. You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP Weather Forecast

Thursday, October 24th

It will be dry, and winds should hold fairly steady, a bit under 10 mph.

Friday, October 25th

Morning winds are just under 10 mph, and afternoon winds are between 10-15 mph. It might be the breeziest time frame of the tournament, but it’s still perfectly manageable. There is a chance for a spotty shower.

Saturday, October 26th

Winds 5-10 mph, low chance of a shower.

Sunday, October 27th

Closing things out nicely, winds should stay around or under 10 mph, and there is a low chance of a shower.

ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP Weather Thoughts

I don’t think the weather is going to make or break you here, but I do have a very slight preference for a Thursday PM / Friday AM build. That build, especially if the golfer is very early on Friday, will minimize exposure to peak Friday afternoon winds.
