Zurich Classic Weather Report and Forecast

PGA golfer Rory McIlroy

We’re teeing off this week for the Zurich Classic in Avondale, LA, just outside of NOLA. While we can expect the typical New Orleans heat, humidity, and chances for rain, the wind looks like it will cooperate nicely.

As usual in my golf weather forecasts, we’re focusing more on wind than rain. While rain can halt play if it’s heavy enough, it also helps soften and slow the course, which helps as much as it hurts.

With wind, there’s no helpful side; it’s all negative impact. And the impact can lead to dramatic differences in scoring. My goal is always to try to highlight the time frame with the lightest winds and the time frame with the strongest winds to see if there’s a cumulative advantage for one wave over another.

You can then use this to your advantage when making your picks on the best DFS sites.

Zurich Classic Weather Forecast

Thursday, April 24th

It’s a pretty good way to kick things off. Light winds in the morning between 5-10 mph, with afternoon winds topping out right around 10 mph. There’s a chance for some rain, but it doesn’t look like a washout.

Friday, April 25th

Similar to Thursday, morning winds will be light, with afternoon winds at 10 mph. Again, some rain is possible, though it doesn’t look likely.

Saturday, April 26th

The weather gets even better over the weekend; winds will peak at 5-10 mph and rain chances drop.

Sunday, April 27th

Closing it out with an easy forecast in the Big Easy: light 5-10 mph winds and no rain.

Zurich Classic Weather Thoughts

Good golfing weather overall, with just some chances for rain Thursday and Friday to monitor. The winds are never much of an issue, and Thursday and Friday specifically look similar enough that I don’t have a lean towards an AM or PM wave. I don’t think weather will make or break you here, so use some advice from some of our RotoGrinders golf experts and enjoy!
