College Football DFS Week 6 – DraftKings and FanDuel Featured Noon Slate Value Plays

Written by: Sean Zerillo

There are eight games in common between the DraftKings (DK) and FanDuel (FD) featured noon slates this Saturday, two games unique to DraftKings, and five games unique to FanDuel. Instead of simply listing betting lines and point totals, I’m going to list the games with the scores implied from the betting lines.

Note: There are a few key differences for roster construction purposes between DraftKings and FanDuel. While both sites provide for a lineup consisting of 1 Quarterback, 2 Running Backs, 3 Wide Receivers, and a SuperFlex (includes QB), you must also fill a traditional Flex spot on DraftKings. FanDuel gives you $60,000 to fill seven roster slots ($8,571 per slot), and DraftKings gives you $50,000 to fill eight roster slots ($6,250 per slot). DraftKings is also a full point per reception, while FanDuel is 0.5 points per reception.

Quarterback
Bargain to Bank:
Peyton Ramsey ($4,900 DK; $8,100 FD) is a solid SuperFlex play for many reasons: he’s averaging 20 fantasy points per game over five starts, has scored at least 15 points in every contest, averages 10 rushing attempts per game, has 86 passing attempts over his past two starts, and should have another 40+ attempts this week as he chases the Buckeyes from behind.

In last year’s opener, Indiana fell 49-21 to Ohio State at home, and Indiana’s Quarterback Richard Lagow (86th in IQR, 74% of throws on-target, 6.6 yards per attempt) went 40 for 65, with 410 yards, 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions (25+ fantasy points). In a limited sample, Ramsey has been slightly better (77th in IQR, 78% of throws on-target 6.5 yards per attempt) than Lagow, and Ohio State’s passing defense has allowed roughly an extra yard per passing attempt this season, dropping from 22nd to 91st in that category. The Buckeyes also gave up 175 rushing yards and 40 fantasy points to Quarterback Trace McSorley last week.

Other Value:
Trevor Lawrence ($8,700 DK; $8,600 FD) dropped by $500 on FanDuel but went up by $200 on DraftKings after getting knocked out against Syracuse with a pretty clear concussion that is being called a neck strain (his helmet was literally taken away by Clemson’s medical staff). Lawrence will return to face a Wake Forest passing defense that ranks 140th in IQR allowed (104), instead of the 40th ranked Syracuse defense that he faced last week (74 IQR allowed). Clemson should score 5-6 touchdowns with an implied total of 40 and Lawrence should be involved in at least three. I will be looking to get him into my SuperFlex spot in FanDuel.

Sam Ehlinger ($7,400 DK; $9,400 FD) threw for 278 yards with a touchdown and ran for 110 yards with another score in last season’s Red River Rivalry game against Oklahoma. The Sooners defense ranks 81st in IQR allowed this season and is permitting a poor 7.6 yards per attempt which ranks 123rd. Ehlinger averages 11 rushing attempts per game and has had a floor of 19 fantasy points in every game this season.

Carter Stanley ($5,100 DK; $8,200 FD) was solid in his first career start at Oklahoma State last week in a game in which Kansas never had a chance, throwing for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns. He is riskier than Ramsey as a cheap SuperFlex, since he just took the Kansas job from Peyton Bender and is only making his second career start, meaning that he could get pulled at any second if he struggles. West Virginia’s passing defense also ranks 55th in IQR allowed (76), while Oklahoma State was a bit easier of a test (115th, 95).

Studs to Pay Up For:
With a lot of skill value to be had this week, one of Will Grier ($10,400 DK; $10,500 FD), McKenzie Milton ($10,300 FD Only), Kyler Murray ($10,200 DK, $10,400 FD), Dwayne Haskins ($9,800 DK; $10,100 FD), or Drew Lock ($9,900 FD Only) should be in all of your lineups. I’m higher on Milton and Murray.
