This advice is for the Sunday through Monday FanDuel slate.
QB
1. Deshaun Watson, Houston (FanDuel Price $7600) – Three consecutive games with more than 300-yards passing. Three straight games with multiple touchdown passes. Watson is performing to his 2017 pre-injury levels averaging 27.3 FPts/G over the last three contests.
2. Alex Smith, Washington (FanDuel Price $7400) – This selection is all about the opposition. New Orleans has allow a league-worst 8.7 yards-per-attempt including 311 ypg passing and 2.75 touchdowns per game. Smith has enough pass-receiving talent in Jamison Crowder, Paul Richardson, Jordan Reed and running back Chris Thompson to take advantage of the porous Saints defense.
Avoid – Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City (FanDuel Price $ 8600) – Sure, it was a very nice comeback in Denver. Yes, he threw for 300 yards for the third straight game and has 14 touchdown passes in four games. Yes, he even completed a pass left-handed. But this is too high a price to pay for a first-year starter against the tough Jacksonville defense in the rain. The Jaguars defense has allowed just 163.5 ypg through the air and .75 touchdowns. They have only allowed one touchdown pass in games not quarterbacked by Tom Brady and while he’s off to a great start, Mahomes isn’t the GOAT.
