NCAAF Impact Injuries

Sports Info Solutions collects the most detailed injury data in the world.
Here in our Pennsylvania office, we have an army of 60+ video scouts who watch every game and are trained to flag any incident that resembles an injury. Each injury is quantified using a severity scale and described to identify things such as the injury type, how it occurred, and what body part is affected.
We then have our in-house injury expert watch every play that has an injury flag and use his kinesiology experience to come up with a diagnosis. In addition to that, we scour all available third-party resources in search of injury news and updates.
Injury data like this isn’t available publicly and bookmakers are sometimes unaware of injuries that may affect upcoming games.
Here are a few important injuries from last week:
Kaleb Barker, QB (Troy)
- Injury: Torn ACL
- Timeline: Out for season
- Impact: After falling in their opener at Boise State, Troy has rattled off five straight wins thanks to their top tier passing efficiency. Unfortunately for the Trojans, they lost their signal-caller to a torn ACL and they’ll now count on backup Sawyer Smith to keep this run-first offense afloat. Among 109 QBs with 100+ pass attempts, Barker ranks 18th in the nation with an Independent Quarterback Rating (IQR) of 119.3. Smith appeared sparingly in 4 of the first 5 games, totaling 19 pass attempts before firing 15 in relief of the injured Barker last week. The results in this limited action have been a mixed bag, showing a conservative approach with pinpoint accuracy – 6.3 Y/A and 88.2% of passes on-target. This week Troy (-9.5) will travel to face a Liberty team that’s on a downward spiral. While the Trojans offense may lose some of it’s big play ability, they can still lean on a strong rushing attack and not be much worse off with Smith at the helm. The line has moved down since opening at -11, suggesting that bettors are reacting to the injury (which can often be an overreaction). I’d side with Troy giving less than 10 points but the preferred choice would be to pass on this game.
