Washington at Oregon Betting Preview

Line Oregon +3.5 and 57.5

Written by: Jimmy Henderson

On Saturday night, Washington goes into Oregon in a top-25 matchup. Washington is the favorite, but I think giving the home Ducks more than a field goal is too many points.

Here’s Why:

These teams are closer than the rankings say. Oregon’s rush defense is ranked 18th and they are only giving up 108.6 yards per game. Washington’s is good as well, they are ranked 40th while giving up 129.8 per game. Oregon’s rush offense ranks 30th at 216 ypg while Washington is 72nd with 170 ypg. Oregon has the slight better position in the rankings, but they have also played an easier schedule, so I think the teams are even in the rushing category.

The difference comes in at quarterback. Oregon QB Justin Herbert has thrown 15 TD and 5 INT with an IQR of 131.8. Washington QB Jake Browning has also thrown 5 INT on the year but only has 9 TD and has an IQR of 110.4. While both IQR’s are good, I think Browning is more of a game manager rather than a playmaker like Herbert. Herbert really impressed me against Stanford. The coaching and RB blew that game. I think Herbert is out for vengeance vs Washington and that is why I will take Oregon +3.5. If Oregon wants a chance at the Pac12 North and the Pac12, this game is a must win.

Picks: Oregon +3.5

I would also lean over on the total but am not sure if I will be playing it yet.
