Week 6 FanDuel Players Advice
By Steve Schwarz
This advice is for the 12-game FanDuel Main slate. Decision-making will be at a premium this week with many high-profile, productive players and teams not included in the FanDuel Main slate. No plug and play in Week 6. New Orleans, Detroit, Kansas City, Green Bay and New England are among those excluded, so it’s time to get to work uncovering previously hidden gems to lead your fantasy lineup.

QB
1) Blake Bortles, Jacksonville (FanDuel $6900) – Did you know that Bortles is one of three quarterbacks with three games of at least 375 passing yards through five weeks this season? Yet among the 24 starting quarterbacks available on the Week 6 Main slate, he’s priced at No. 16. You could argue that’s because he’s thrown seven interceptions this season, but in Sunday’s opponent, Dallas, he faces a team tied for last in the league with just one interception this season. Add the absence of Leonard Fournette and Bortles likely will be called upon to be a major factor in the offense and he’ll be the “best value” this weekend at his position.
2) Josh Allen, Buffalo (FanDuel $6400) – The lowest price of all the starting quarterbacks, Allen, is also one of the best values this weekend. He hasn’t been a particularly prolific passer, but his willingness and ability to run for touchdowns has enhanced his fantasy value (sorry LeSean McCoy).
Avoid
1) Case Keenum, Denver (FanDuel $6700) – Don’t be fooled by his 51 attempts and 377 passing yards against the Jets in Week 5. In the other four games, he’s averaged 35.3 passing attempts and 247 yards. He and the Broncos go up against one of the hottest team in the league, the Los Angeles Rams.
RB
1) James Conner, Pittsburgh (FanDuel $8200) – This might be the last hurrah for Conner if Le’Veon Bell reports over the Week 7 bye as rumored. I’m sure Conner will want to make the best of it. His opponent, the Bengals, are bottom 10 in both rushing yards allowed (591) and yards-per-attempt (4.5) despite a relatively weak list of running backs faced through five games.
2) Ezekiel Elliott, Dallas (FanDuel $8100) – Facing the Jaguars defense is a daunting task, particularly the secondary, which should encourage the Cowboys to commit to the run. Elliott has also been more involved in the passing game and both parts of his game should get a workout this Sunday.
Avoid
1) Alex Collins, Baltimore (FanDuel $6200) – Collins played just 27-of-87 snaps in the Ravens’ upset loss to the Browns. His 31% snap percentage was his lowest of the season. “We need to spread the load,” said head coach John Harbaugh, but it might also be that his two lost fumbles, which are as many as he had in 212 rushing attempts last season, is a factor. In addition, Joe Flacco is averaging 45.4 passing attempts per game and the team prefers Javorius Allen in passing situations.
WR
1) Jarvis Landry, Cleveland (FanDuel $6900) – Landry is fourth in targets (57) and has averaged 11.7 targets in games quarterbacked by Baker Mayfield. He’s also been better at home than on the road averaging 13.3 FPts/G in Cleveland. The issue for Jarvis owners is touchdowns, he doesn’t get a lot of them, but the Chargers have allowed 11 this season.
2) Julio Jones, Atlanta (FanDuel $8500) – The only fantasy receiver in the top-20 without the benefit of a touchdown reception is Jones. That note should no longer be valid after this week as the Buccaneers have allowed a league-worst 13 touchdown passes this season. They have also allowed a league-worst 8.7 yards per attempt so Jones could improve on his 112.8 ypg average. This is one of those times where paying the high price should pay off.
Avoid
1) Demaryius Thomas, Denver (FanDuel $6500) – A 42-yard bomb during garbage time saved the day for Thomas’ owners last Sunday, but it was his first touchdown reception since opening day. He’s only averaged six targets per game over the last three contests and that’s not usually enough to produce viable fantasy points. Until he starts seeing double-digit targets again, he should probably be avoided.
TE
1) Eric Ebron, Indianapolis (FanDuel $6500) – This is the easiest choice of the weekend. Ebron has been a fantasy stud with wide receiver T.Y. Hilton and fellow tight end Jack Doyle sidelined by injury. He’s Andrew Luck’s favorite target averaging 12 targets and 15.1 FPts over the past three weeks.
2) Jordan Reed, Washington (FanDuel $6200) – Throw away Monday night’s one-catch performance as the Washington offense was horrible for most of the night. Reed has been involved in the offense and should rebound against Carolina. With limited viable option at the position, Reed is a solid choice.
Avoid
1) Jesse James, Pittsburgh (FanDuel $5200) – Sharing on the playground is good at recess, but not on the football field. James is sharing time with Vance McDonald and after seeing 10 targets in the first two games has seen just four in the last three contests while McDonald has seen 12 targets.
