Gameplay mixes a nine-round fantasy draft with strategic card selection. Your job is to build the highest-scoring lineup you can from random player card options, making choices based on talent and chemistry. We’ll get into how that works in a bit.

In Solo mode, you can do up to five drafts daily. The first three are free, while drafts four and five ask for tokens. Versus mode has no daily limit, so you can challenge friends or random opponents as much as you want. Your first 3 Versus drafts for the day are free, but after that, you’ll need tokens. Buy tokens directly in the app or earn them via promos, refer-a-friend bonuses, social media specials, etc.

One thing to keep in mind? Griddy doesn’t pay out cash prizes. The goal is to build your stats and unlock achievements, something that keeps football fans engaged 365 days a year.

Is Griddy Sports Betting or Fantasy?

You’ll only see cards for positions you still need, so if QB is your last open spot, every option that round will be a QB.

Organizing your grid matters. You can move cards around during the draft to test chemistry combinations, but you can’t swap out a pick from a previous round. Once you choose a player, they’re locked in for the life of that draft.

If you’re unable to finish a draft before time runs out, sorry, you’re SOL.

You get three free Daily Drafts, with drafts resetting at midnight PT. So if you’re on the East Coast and it’s midnight, you won’t get your new drafts until a few hours later.

Griddy Token System

Griddy runs on an in-app token economy. You get some free Drafts, but if you want to go beyond the free daily limit, you’ll have to fork over your tokens.

Now your first three Solo drafts (daily) are free, whole drafts four and five cost tokens. Versus mode has three free daily drafts, but after that, you’ll have to use tokens.

To buy tokens, you click the token icon at the top right of the screen, and that takes you to the purchase page. (Honestly, finding the payment options could be smoother, as the current setup makes people look deep for it, and it’s easy to feel a bit blocked when you’re just trying to get going.)

Drafting a team is easy. Drafting one that can actually top the leaderboard takes more work and a little luck.

Talent points are set for each card before the draft. Hero cards have the highest talent points, followed by Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Chemistry points come from linking players with shared traits (think same team, division, or draft year). In many drafts, chemistry ends up mattering more than raw talent for your total score.

• Same team, green line = 2 points
• Same division + draft year, green line = 2 points
• Same division, yellow line = 1 point
• Same draft year, yellow line = 1 point

Extra chemistry boosts are shown as dots under the card once it’s placed:

• Green Dot (+11 points): same team, bonus for 4+ Chem
• Yellow Dot (+6 points): same division or draft year, bonus for 2+ Chem
• Red Dot (0 points): no connection

Trust us, it’s not as complicated as it looks. After a few drafts, spotting those connections becomes automatic. Hitting the perfect grid feels like cashing the winning ticket, even if the app doesn’t pay out real money prizes.

Griddy Versus

If Solo mode feels too much like playing against the house, Griddy Versus gives you direct action against another player. The format is still nine rounds, but you’re trying to outscore a real person, not just the app.

Once you access Versus mode from your account, you can set rules such as:
