Ah Opening Night. For the last few years opening night in the NBA is similar to eating dessert before a nice dinner. The schedule offers a couple high-profile nationally televised games to keep you engaged but yet you have to sit through commercials! The following night will require fresh batteries for the remote as seemingly every team hits the hardwood, but tonight we’ll make do with what we have. The biggest storyline tonight is Derrick Rose actually deciding to lace the sneakers up against the World Champs. Word of advice: Make sure you check the scoring rules on your site, because some have changed since last year. Most notably, Fanduel is now giving 1.5 fp for assists and 1.2 fp for rebounds. Best of luck to all Grinders for the 2013-14 NBA season!

h2. Point Guard

*PLAYER NAME* - The Clippers are the best team in Los Angeles now, and it isn’t really close. Paul averaged 24 and 13 against the Lakers last year, about 1.5 times his normal season averages. CP3 saves his big games for nights and opponents just like this, and the fact that "Steve Nash(player-profile)":/players/Steve_Nash-14067 is close to drawing social security doesn’t hurt one bit. Look for a statement game from Paul as he looks to establish the Doc-Rivers led Clippers early with a convincing win over their rivals. On a site like Fanduel his value will spike with the added half point per dime.
*PLAYER NAME* - Hard to go away from the two studs at PG tonight… there just isn’t much upside in the other floor generals playing. Rose has looked very explosive in the preseason and has fared well in the past vs the Heat. Kind of interesting to see how how tight this line is. You rarely catch the Heat as slight home favorites, so Vegas expects a tight one here. Let’s hope Rose is not too hyped up but I don’t feel it will be as much of an issue starting out on the road.
Shooting Guard
*PLAYER NAME* - The Mamba-less Lakers are gonna have plenty of extra field goal attempts to go around, and it just so happens that Swaggy P has never met a shot he didn’t like. While Young is the type of player you just hate to play with at the local gym, he usually has no problems scoring the ball for fantasy purposes. I would steer clear of Young on any site that offers negatives for missed shots, as he is a true chucker. Hard to argue with someone getting a possible 15+ shots up at such a low price of 5100 on Fanduel, however.
*PLAYER NAME* - I very rarely ever play Wade on my teams due to his injury-prone style of play and endless nights of doing some serious WLW (Watching Lebron Work). Tonight is a nice time to hop on him in a big game against his hometown Bulls. At this point in his career Wade will never be healthy but at least it is the opener so he should be somewhat fresh and looking to match "D Rose(player-profile)":/players/Derrick_Rose-1086 all night long.
h2. Small Forward
!(right)https://s3.amazonaws.com/rical-images/paul-george-300x200.jpg!
*PLAYER NAME* - Williams is starting for the Lakers and has the green light to shoot the trey. He will pick up some boards for you also, and is minimum price across the board. Don’t expect anything huge from him, but if he hits a few triples he will more then cover value for you. His salary makes it so much easier to fit in Paul/Rose on your team.
*PLAYER NAME* - This is truly one of the best young stars in the game, and I expect him to take another leap forward this year. George has the type of all-around game that can make you salivate, and is a threat to post MONSTER numbers every time out. I expect a huge explosion out of him against the Magic as George has been taking names in the preseason so far. It really is scary how talented this young man is, and on a night like tonight you don’t want to be left watching him go off on someone else’s roster.
h2. Power Forward
*PLAYER NAME* - Pau will be asked to carry the Lakers on his back until Kobe returns, and I expect a huge bounce back season for him. The offense should run through him in the post, and a 20-10 line should be his floor. Pau to me is a no-brainer early this season and will likely be the first player on my squad today.
*PLAYER NAME* - Hard to not take the Paul/Griffin duo in what should be an up and down affair in LA. No Dwight in the middle means an easier path for Lob City to do some work. He averaged 21 and 9 against them last year, up considerably from his season averages, and as mentioned the Lakers will be much weaker in the paint defensively. D’Antoni said he wants to push the pace offensively, and that usually means giving up easy ones on the other end.
h2. Center
*PLAYER NAME* - Center is a tough position tonight with the low number of games and a handsome young fella named Noah possibly limited, so I would lean towards someone with the most upside. Though the matchup isn’t the greatest, Vucevic is gonna have to play heavy minutes as Orlando is all sorts of banged up in the frontcourt. If the Magic want to keep this close tonight then Vucevic will have to provide a 18-12 kind of night. At similar prices I feel he possesses a lot more upside then Hibbert.
*PLAYER NAME* - Slap me if you see too many Lakers on this page, but LA will be Value Town for the first part of this season. While Kaman may not start tonight I still expect him to play decent minutes off the bench and the Kave-Man has never been shy about putting up offensive numbers. He has a medium price tonight for someone that can fill it up in the paint in a short amount of time. Now, just don’t go and put put all these Lakers on the same squad…. but a couple of them will help round out your rosters quite nicely!
