MLB Splits CHARTS LEGEND
Splits refer to how a player performs in different situations. This includes lefty vs. righty, home and away, night and day, etc. Utilizing this information can give players a huge advantage versus the competition.
The MLB Splits tool can be filtered the following ways:
- BvP – Historical statistics for the hitter versus the starting pitcher for that day
- Lefty – Statistics from 2013-current versus left-handed pitching
- Righty – Statistics from 2013-current versus right-handed pitching
- Home – Statistics when playing at home
- Away – Statistics when playing on the road
- Day – Statistics when playing day games
- Night – Statistics when playing night home
Here’s a quick breakdown of what each category represents:
- AB – The number of At-Bats that meet the given criteria
- H – The number of hits that meet the given criteria (batting average)
- XBH – The number of extra base hits [2B’s, 3B’s, HR’s] that meet the given criteria (XBHs divided by ABs)
- H/R – The number of home runs that meet the given criteria (HRs divided by ABs)
- SO – The number of strikeouts that meet the given criteria (SOs divided by ABs)
- BB – The number of walks that meet the given criteria (BBs divided by ABs)
- OPS – On-base plus slugging percentage for the given criteria (OPS divided by ABs)
- FPPG – (FPPG divided by ABs)
Note: All stats over than BvP apply to 2013 and 2014 data. BvP is an all-time statistic
