NFL Daily Research Buttons FAQ

The Daily Research Buttons were built around two central goals.
1. To make your lineup decisions more efficient every day.
2. To help win you CASH

We want to keep our members in the loop in terms of what we are working on next! So at the end of the FAQ here we have included a list of Daily Research options that are being worked on as we speak and will be released shortly!

ANY BUTTONS WITH A GOLD RIBBON OVER THEM ARE FOR INCENTIVES MEMBERS ONLY. YOU CAN SIGN UP THROUGH OUR LINKS AND RECEIVE INCENTIVES ACCESS TO THESE SITES WHEN YOU DEPOSIT, OR YOU CAN PURCHASE INDIVIDUAL SITE INCENTIVES.

CLICK HERE TO LEARN ABOUT THE INCENTIVES PROGRAM AND HOW YOU CAN GAIN ENTRY TO THOSE DAILY RESEARCH BUTTONS.

Certain daily research buttons are site-specific, meaning the data found in them is based on the player salary feeds, scoring and roster formats for a specific daily fantasy sports site. You can sort through the available Daily Research buttons by site or sport.

The current daily fantasy sites with specific Daily Research buttons offered are:

NFL Daily Research Buttons

We offer the following daily research buttons for NFL. Links for these buttons here will take you to the default FanDuel page for each tool. Tools with “Incentives Members Only” next to them(or covered with a ribbon on the Daily Research Console) are only available to players who have signed up and deposited through RotoGrinders links to a given daily fantasy site or who have purchased incentives for the NFL season.

Top Values

Our NFL Top Values are a collection of players, from each daily fantasy site listed in the Daily Research drop down, who offer a high projected score when compared to their salary. Each Top Values page shows you which players may be underpriced and due to strike it big come Sunday!

The Value Rating column on the Top Values page shows you how much a player is projected to outperform his salary on a given site. A Value Rating of 0% implies that a player should score exactly as many points as would fit his salary. A negative Value Rating implies that a player is projected to under perform his salary for a given site.

Formula for Value Rating Value Rating = (Proj. Pts. / Avg. Pts. at Position) – (Salary / Avg. Salary at Position)

You can sort the Top Values for each site based on Player Name, Salary, $/point, Value Rating, and Projected Points.

Expert Lineups

Our Expert Lineups are hand-picked lineups from Top Grinders players and contributors. For CFB, these lineups are updated once early in the week for those of you eager to get a jump on your games. They are then updated later in the week to adjust for any injuries or general improvements that can be made. These expert lineups are available for any site with Incentives Plans.

These Expert Lineups are different than the “Algorithm-Projected” Lineup in that they are made by top players rather than based entirely on our Player Projections.

Player Projections

Our NFL Player Projections help users find out which players offer the best match-ups, value and potential on a week-to-week basis. By combining a number of standard and advanced statistics, our player projections are built to simplify the process of choosing your lineups. You can view our player projections with site specific information including individual site salaries and projections to fit their roster and scoring formats. We run these projections for all of the sites listed at the top of this FAQ page.

Algorithm-Projected Lineups

These lineups are built based on our Player Projections and Site-by-site salaries. They are tailored to meet the lineup criteria of each individual daily fantasy site that we offer incentives for.

The Algorithm-Projected Lineup or “Optimal Lineups” are the best possible combination of players that fit the salary and roster restrictions of a given daily fantasy site, based on the player projections that we have.

On the Algorithm-Projected Lineup Page you will see:

Player Stats Pages

Each Player Stats Page (by position) has both general statistics about that position and a 2nd link for Fantasy Points Per Game by daily fantasy site. In the Fantasy Points Per Game page you can see season averages, last 3 game averages and last game score for each of the DFS sites listed above.

Statistics for each position shown on Player Stats Pages are:

Each main Player Stat Page also shows scoring averages for FanDuel(last game, last 3 game average and season average).

Offense vs. Defense Page

The Offense vs. Defense helps you gauge how an offensive player will do this week vs. their Defensive matchup this week. The numbers shown on this page are an average of a team’s offensive statistics in major categories against their upcoming opponent’s defensive statistics in those categories.

Statistical Averages for each figure on this page are found with the following formula:

D/ST and Kicker Page

The DST and Kicker Page is your source for quick info regarding the best defensive plays and kicker plays of the week. The base page you are taken to shows defense/special teams stats for each defense, similar to how the Offense vs. Defense Stats are calculated for each offense above. The average of a team defenses numbers and the opposing offenses numbers are shown.

From this page you can go to the Kickers home page where you will see basic kicker statistics. You can also go to Site-Price Analysis pages for both kickers and defenses. Site Price Analysis pages show the fantasy point per game averages as well as the $/point for kickers and defenses, specific for each of the daily fantasy sites we offer daily research for.

Matchup Notes Page

Player Matchup Notes are here to take you beyond the numbers. Looking at season statistics is great, but sometimes they overlook certain scenarios that could have a major impact on performance. In this page we break down each individual game with a focused look on the factors below. Here are some of the things we look for in this weekly column:

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Market Watch Page

The RotoGrinders “Market Watch” tool helps you track the differences in a players price each week from site-to-site, compared to last week.

The tool compares each player’s salary from the last week of action to their current salary for the upcoming week. This is useful in seeing which players have gained or lost the most value on each site because of a solid or poor performance the week before.

Here you can search for ‘diamonds in the rough’ who may have dropped drastically in price and are still solid contributors. We compare salaries from last week and the current week for FanDuel, DraftStreet, DailyJoust, DraftDay, FantasyFeud, StarStreet and DraftKings.

Bargain Bin Ballers

Any Daily Fantasy players in the “Bargain Bin” are are at the minimum price-level for their position and site, or close to it. These plays are different than your usual “Value Plays” columns in that there is a strict cap on the price of players listed below (min-price or one-tier up). They aren’t necessarily consistent plays, but if these plays hit, for these prices, they will be game-changers for your lineup.

Typically, around 2-3 quarterbacks, 4-5 running backs, 4-5 wide receivers and 3-4 tight ends that fall in the price range needed are listed.

Qualifying minimum salary tiers for each daily fantasy site we offer “Bargain Bin Ballers” for are listed here:

Vegas Odds and Lines

The NFL Vegas Odds and Lines page is updated once a week to reflect the spread and total points that are being projected by Vegas Oddsmakers each week. These can be useful in understanding which games are expected to be high scoring as well as which games are expected to be defensive struggles.

On this page we also show a Projected Score which is a function of the spread and total points lines combined. The projected score is calculated as follows:
Favored Team: Projected Score = (Total Points in Game * .5) + (Spread for Game * .5)
Underdog Team: Projected Score = (Total Points in Game * .5) – (Spread for Game *.5)

The Projected Score simply shows you how many points each individual team is projected to score whereas the “Total Points” shows how many points are projected for the entire game(both teams.)

Games projected with a total score of over 47.5 points are shown in bold

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Site Scoring Comparison Page

The Site Scoring Comparison Page first shows you the exact scoring systems for each daily fantasy site. Further down, this page runs a number of sample statistical lines for players at each position and shows you which sites that player scores highest on and which that player scores lowest.

This page is useful in understanding where value is most heavily weighted on each daily fantasy site so you can see where to distribute your salary most heavily on that given daily fantasy site.
