RotoGrinders: Player Comparison FAQ

What is the Player Comparison Tool?

player comparison

The Batter and Pitcher Comparison tool is your friend for last-minute lineup decisions. Just enter two batters or pitchers who are playing on a given day and it will churn out a series of fantasy and site-specific statistics then advise you on which one has the upper-hand.

For both tools player salaries are shown along with their value ratings for each site. What makes this tool extremely unique is that not only will it recommend a player based on total fantasy output, but it will also show which of the two players entered has better value on the site you are looking at.

Batter Comparison

The batter tool focuses heavily on recent performance, using last 7 days statistics as well as last 14 days stats. It also incorporates Batter vs. Pitcher Splits, Home/Road Splits and Left/Right splits. It then measures a batter’s success in terms of fantasy points per at bat, and fantasy points per game (set to 4 at bats as an equalizing measure).

Pitcher Comparison

The Pitcher tool keys on matchup based statistics as well as some valuable splits including season stats, last 14 days stats (approx. 2-3 starts) and home/road splits. Other important numbers used in comparing the pitchers include opponent strikeout rates, walk rates, home run rates and batting average in a number of areas.
