Statistical Weather Impacts FAQ

The tool takes weather and sports data going back to 2000 and shows the historical impact of different weather conditions on different ballparks.

Q: Where do these weather statistics come from?
A: We partnered with the highly respected weather forecasting/data company WeatherBell to handle the weather end of this project. Some weather data is recorded at the ballpark (like temperature), for others the nearest ASOS (essentially an official weather-data collection tool) was used.

Q: If a team changed locations since 2000, will both ballparks be included in the results?
A: No, this tool is meant to address the localized effects of weather on each ballpark, so if a team has moved since 2000, data from the old ballpark is not included.

Q: Are the results and percentages as compared to the rest of MLB, or compared to all the games from the specific ballpark we are querying?
A: The results of your weather data queries are compared to every game played in that specific ballpark.
