Alonzo Gee has been waived by the Nuggets
Alonzo Gee has been waived by the Nuggets. He was not getting consistent playing time in the rotation and with the team back to full health, they did not need him as an insurance option.
Jrue Holiday, Alonzo Gee to miss the rest of the season
The injury bug continues to bite the Pelicans hard - both Jrue Holiday and Alonzo Gee have now been ruled out for the rest of the season. We'll likely see some fresh faces on the Pelicans roster as the regular season winds down, but Toney Douglas and Tim Frazier will eat up the minutes left by Holiday barring the addition of another PG. Luke Babbitt and Jordan Hamilton will both see increased run with Gee on the shelf, with Babbitt being the preferred DFS target between the two. The Pelicans could be a nice source of value as the season winds down given how shorthanded they are.
Pelicans starters are Douglas, Gee, Cunningham, Babbitt, and Asik
Pelicans will use their 35th different starting lineup against the Pacers on Thursday. With the Pelicans only having eight healthy players, expect all the starters to play near 30 minutes. Toney Douglas will be a chalky play against on a short slate. Luke Babbitt will try to exceed value for the third consecutive game and is a viable punt option with his salary still so cheap ($4,000 DK/$3,800 FD).
Luke Babbitt (shin) expected to play tonight
Luke Babbitt is expected to play tonight but is not much of a DFS option with Dante Cunningham and Alonzo Gee healthy. Avoid the trio of these forwards tonight against the Hornets.
Dante Cunningham (knee) questionable for Thursday
Dante Cunningham is being listed as questionable for tonight's game against the Spurs. Cunningham played 29 minutes last night and had 16 points, his highest-scoring output of the season. He ended the night with 21.8 DKFP for a value of 6.2x. If Cunningham misses the game, Alonzo Gee will most likely replace him in the starting lineup. Gee is a low-end DFS play on Thursday but is a viable option due to only four games being on the slate. Gee is only in consideration for low dollar tournaments as he does not possess huge upside.
Alonzo Gee confirmed as the starter for Bryce Dejean-Jones
Alonzo Gee will be starting at shooting guard tonight for the Pelicans. Bryce Dejean-Jones has been diagnosed with a fractured wrist and will be out 6-8 weeks. Gee is a low-end DFS option tonight but should see about 30 minutes tonight. The Pelicans are depleted by injuries and will ask Gee to step up. Gee will likely be under-owned tonight and should be able to hit value on his near minimum salary.
Bryce Dejean-Jones (wrist) has been ruled out for Thursday
Bryce Dejean-Jones will likely miss 6-8 weeks with a broken wrist. BDJ was not much of a fantasy option and Alonzo Gee is expected to start in his place. The last time that Dejean-Jones was injured and Gee filled in, he had four points in 33 minutes. Gee is an extremely low-end option tonight against the Thunder. Look for Toney Douglas to also get in the lineup tonight and make for an interesting punt play due to his near minimum salary.
Pelicans starters are Cole, Gee, Cunningham, Davis, Asik
Alonzo Gee will be starting in place of Bryce Dejean-Jones tonight. Gee has not provided much DFS value even when he starts, yet is worth a roster spot today. With the news coming so close to when lineups lock, Gee will be an under-owned and elite punt option. With only two games being played Gee can be used in tournaments and cash games.
Alonzo Gee starting Friday
Alonzo Gee is in the starting lineup for the Pelicans at SF. He replaces Luke Babbitt in the starting five, and will likely get a healthy amount of minutes. While he has not contributed heavily yet, the Raptors are a strong defensive team and Gee will likely be called upon to get the hustle stats. Expect Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson to each get over 15 shot attempts with Jrue Holiday also contributing in around 20 minutes.
