Evander Kane Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

This center has had an offensive coming-out-party this season

Tomas Hertl is second on the San Jose Sharks in goals (32) and second on the team in points (64), despite missing 5 games. He's expected to centre the second line with Evander Kane and Joonas Donskoi on his wings. The Sharks have been hit with injuries and a bout of the flu which has taken some of their key players out of the mix. It is uncertain which players will be in the lineup tonight so be sure to follow closely. If this line remains in-tact, they make for a great line stack against an Anaheim Ducks team that has struggled all season long.

This center is having a breakout season

Before the season, not many would have predict Tomas Hertl being second on the San Jose Sharks in goals and tied for second in points at this point in the season. Well, he is, and his current linemates are also the best he's had. He's centering the Sharks second line with Evander Kane and Gustav Nyquist and they could have a very good matchup tonight as Marc-Andre Fleury did not travel with the team which means they will take on Malcolm Subban on a back-to-back or Maxime Legace.

This red hot winger draws a great matchup on home ice

Evander Kane has five goals and two assists in his last four games. Including two goals against the Canucks on Monday where we seen San Jose put up seven goals. San Jose currently has the second highest xGF/60 in the NHL. Kane, Tomas Hertl, and Joonas Donskoi all play together on the second line. With last change, I expect this line stack to avoid the talented first line of Vancouver. On the blue line I would try to add Brent Burns to the stack. While only correlating with Hertl on the top power-play unit, Burns has been logging huge minutes with Erik Karlsson being sidelined due to injury.

Hot sniper and line-mates should convert in this matchup

Evander Kane has been white hot lately, as he has racked up four goals, three assists, and 21 shots over his past four games. Ottawa is a team we have picked on all year, and they continue to rank near the bottom in most defensive categories. The Senator’s have won their past two games and only giving up two goals in the process. However they’re playing their third game in four nights and at the tail end of road west coast road trip. Stacking Kane with line-mates Tomas Hertl and Joonas Donskoi is my preferred play in this game.

This quasi-third line has a lot of offensive potential

If the Calgary Flames treat the line of Evander Kane, Tomas Hertl and Kevin Labanc as the third line (even the second line) they could be in for a big game against the Flames lower-end players. Kane leads the team in shots despite being tied for 7th on the team in points. He is struggling to convert on his scoring opportunities even though his shooting percentage is only down a bit from his career numbers. The three are all jumbled up between the power play units, which is problematic, but utilizing the trio as a strong, low-owned even strength stack is still a great as the San Jose Sharks lead the NHL with a 60.00 CF% at 5-on-5 over the last three weeks.

This winger has been fantastic since being acquired by the San Jose Sharks.

We have a matchup between one of the best possession teams and one of the worst possession teams in the San Jose Sharks and New York Rangers respectively. The Sharks are 3rd in the NHL with a 58.56 CF% and the Rangers are 27th with a 46.49 CF%. The top line for the Sharks has been great and Evander Kane has been great for them since he was acquired at the Trade Deadline last season. He's playing with Joe Pavelski and Kevin Lebanc. Additionally, he's on the top power play unit with Pavelski, Logan Couture, Brent Burns and Erik Karlsson. There is so much offensive talent on this power play unit that it gives Kane another boost.

A game full of shot attempts and questionable goaltending is a game worth stacking.

We talked about the Hurricanes already, not it's time to focus on the other side of the game. The San Jose Sharks are the best possession team in the NHL and their top line of Evander Kane, Joe Pavelski and Kevin Labanc are the third-best possession line in the NHL (after two Carolina lines) at even strength with a 65.57 CF%. Kane has four goals and an incredible 38 shots in just nine games so even if he doesn't get on the scoresheet offensively he has the shot volume to really raise his floor. Though on games he does get some points, the shot volume gives him an elite ceiling as well. Kane and Pavelski play on the top power play unit together which is great for their correlation and while Labanc is on the other unit, they are so good at even strength that there is no reason to leave him off your line stack.

Top line in great spot on home ice

The San Jose Sharks play host to the New York Islanders tonight. The Sharks currently have the highest implied goal total set at 3.71. Joe Pavelski and Evander Kane were reunited on the top line last game, along with Kevin Labanc. They looked great together last game posting a combined one goal, three assists, and nine shots on goal. However, they were over shadowed by Logan Couture’s hat trick. While both Shark’s top lines are definitely in play, I expect the first line to go slightly lowed owned given the second line’s recent performance. With Kane and Pavelski, you also get two-thirds of the team’s top power play unit. Pairing them up with Erik Karlsson or Brent Burns, gives you elite upside in this matchup.

Who will replace Joe Thornton on the top line?

As of now, it is uncertain who is going to play with Timo Meier and Joe Pavelski on the top line in the absence of Joe Thornton who landed on the IR with swelling in his surgically repaired knee. However, there is plenty of hope that we see Evander Kane, who has 2 goals and 10 shots while playing on the third line at even strength. It is a bonus if he lands on the top line because he has still been productive playing on line three as well as the second power play unit. But given the matchup against the New York Islander, it would be in the best interest to stack the top line.

Do Not Fade This Line Tonight In Any Format

The San Sharks top line has disappointed us many times throughout the 2017-18 season, but they were money on Tuesday night against the Edmonton Oilers, and they are very much in play again tonight in all formats, as they host a Chicago Blackhawks squad that struggles to receive good goaltending and play sound defense. Although they are still a decent possession team, the Blackhawks continue to allow too many scoring chances and high-danger scoring attempts, which should lead to the Sharks number one line scoring multiple goals tonight at the Shark Tank. In cash games, Joe Pavelski leads the way, with Joonas Donskoi making a nice value option. As for tournament play, I would strongly suggest you stack this dangerous line this evening, while adding Brent Burns to the mix whenever possible.
