Jameer Nelson available to make Detroit Pistons debut Friday; James Ennis inactive
Nelson has officially been cleared to play and will suit up for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers, while James Ennis hit a bit of a snag in his travel plans and will not be making his Detroit Pistons debut this evening. However, even though Nelson is with the team and is active, according to head coach Stan Van Gundy, it's unlikely he plays in tonight's contest. This means that Langston Galloway figures to remain the primary backup point guard behind Ish Smith for at least another game, as Dwight Buycks was a DNP-CD in the Pistons previous matchup and his status in the backcourt rotation remains unclear moving forward with Nelson presumably in the mix following Friday's contest.
Jameer Nelson (personal) now available to play Tuesday
Nelson had originally been ruled out but has unexpectedly rejoined the New Orleans Pelicans in Boston and will be available to play in tonight's game against the Celtics after tending to a personal matter that had forced him to miss Sunday's win. Nelson has recently been passed by Ian Clark as the team's primary backup point guard behind Rajon Rondo and Jrue Holiday, as he has averaged just eight minutes per game over his last three contests, so his availability won't do much to alter the playing time of the remaining members of the backcourt rotation. On the contrary, Clark has averaged just over 23 minutes during that same timespan, though his fantasy production has been minimal with Holiday, Rondo, DeMarcus Cousins, and Anthony Davis absorbing most of the Pelicans available usage on a nightly basis.
Jameer Nelson (personal) ruled out Sunday
Nelson has been ruled out and won't play in today's game against the New York Knicks due to personal reasons, despite never appearing on the New Orleans Pelicans' injury report at any point prior to the news of his unavailability. Nelson had recently been passed by Ian Clark as the team's primary backup point guard behind Rajon Rondo and Jrue Holiday, so his absence won't do much, if anything, to alter head coach Alvin Gentry's backcourt rotation. Nelson's nominal playing time will likely just be absorbed by the trio of Clark, Rondo, and Holiday, meaning the change in their projected value for daily fantasy formats will be minimal, at best.
Anthony Davis (adductor), Jameer Nelson (ankle), and Dante Cunningham (knee) expected to play Wednesday
Davis is expected to play in tonight's game against the Milwaukee Bucks after previously being listed as questionable on the New Orleans Pelicans' injury report with a strained left adductor that had forced him to miss four of the last six games, while both Jameer Nelson and Dante Cunningham are also expected to play despite their prior questionable designations due to their respective ailments. The Pelicans are now as close to full strength as they've been in recent games with only Tony Allen expected to be unavailable. This means that someone like Rajon Rondo may begin to see his minutes reduced to some extent with Nelson back in the fold to absorb guard minutes off the bench, which makes him an interesting fade candidate after smashing his salary-based expectations in each of the past two games Nelson and Davis have been sidelined.
Anthony Davis (adductor), Jameer Nelson (ankle), and Dante Cunningham (knee) questionable for Wednesday
Davis has officially been listed as questionable on the New Orleans Pelicans' report for tomorrow's game against the Milwaukee Bucks due to a strained left adductor that has forced him to miss four of the last six games, while Jameer Nelson and Dante Cunningham have also been listed as questionable with their respective ailments, the latter being an extremely late scratch for Monday's contest after previously being announced as the starter at power forward. Additionally, Tony Allen has been diagnosed with a non-displaced left proximal fibula fracture and is expected to be sidelined three-to-four weeks. While Allen doesn't log a lot of playing time, the Pelicans could potentially be extremely thin from a depth standpoint once again. With Nelson unavailable the past two games, Rajon Rondo has averaged 40 minutes of action en route to obliterating salary-based expectations and may end up being a viable value option for the third time in as many games. As is the case anytime Davis is sidelined, Cousins would become an elite option for all formats on Wednesday's slate and owns a +2.1% usage rate differential while leading the Pelicans by a wide margin with a 37.1% usage rate with Davis, Nelson, Cunningham, and Allen off the court this season.
Anthony Davis (adductor) questionable Monday; Jameer Nelson (ankle) and Tony Allen (knee) ruled out
Davis has officially been listed as questionable on the New Orleans Pelicans' injury report for tonight's game against the Houston Rockets due to a left adductor injury he re-aggravated during the fourth quarter of Sunday's win, while Jameer Nelson and Tony Allen have each been ruled out with their respective ailments, the former missing his second consecutive game. Head coach Alvin Gentry opted to roll with a tighter rotation in Sunday's contest rather than disperse Nelson's minutes to other reserve players like Ian Clark, as every starter other than DeMarcus Cousins ended up playing at least 37 minutes. That said, he's much likelier to extend the rotation on the second night of a back-to-back set in a game that has serious blowout risk if Davis is eventually ruled out. As is the case anytime Davis is unavailable, Cousins would become an elite option for all formats on Monday's slate and owns a +5.1% usage rate differential while leading the Pelicans by a wide margin with a 40.2% usage rate with Davis, Nelson, and Allen off the court this season.
Jameer Nelson (ankle) officially ruled out Sunday
Nelson has officially been ruled out and won't play in tonight's game against the Philadelphia 76ers after previously being listed as doubtful on the New Orleans Pelicans' injury report with a left ankle issue, while Anthony Davis wasn't included on the injury report after playing 30 minutes in Friday's overtime loss and Rajon Rondo will return from a one-game absence due to rest. Davis will have his minute restriction lifted for Sunday's contest and actually exceeded his reported 25-minute limit in Friday's overtime loss. With Nelson unavailable, Ian Clark should end up remaining in the rotation following his solid performance in 27 minutes in his spot start for Rondo and will likely be needed to absorb most of Nelson's typical high-teens-to-low-20s minutes off the bench.
Jameer Nelson (ankle) doubtful for Sunday
Nelson has officially been listed as doubtful on the New Orleans Pelicans' injury report for tomorrow's game against the Philadelphia 76ers due to a left ankle issue, while neither Anthony Davis wasn't included on the injury report after playing 30 minutes in Friday's overtime loss and Rajon Rondo is expected to return from a one-game absence due to rest. There's yet to be any word on whether Davis will be subject to a minute restriction once again and exceeded his reported 25-minute limit in last night's contest due to overtime. With Nelson unlikely to suit up, Ian Clark should end up remaining in the rotation following his solid performance in 27 minutes in his spot start for Rondo and will likely be needed to absorb Nelson's typical high-teens-to-low-20s minutes off the bench.
Barton, Faried, Gallinari, and Nelson all OUT for Denver tonight; Mudiay is questionable and Harris probable
The Nuggets are continuing to sit out the majority of their key players with nothing to play for but it does look like Gary Harris will give it a go tonight and he figures to play a significant role in their rotation tonight and is in play along with the likes of Jamaal Murray and Malik Beasley (who is a particularly attractive value option after his most recent game).
Jameer Nelson, Danilo Gallinari, Will Barton, and Kenneth Faried all OUT for Denver tonight
Faried and Nelson will sit out the final two games for the Nuggets this season and Barton is likely to do the same. Gallo is out for sure for tonight's game but his fate for the season finale is undecided. With these four out tonight it'll be up to the likes of Jamal Murray, Gary Harris, Emmanuel Mudiay, and Wilson Chandler to shoulder the load. Perhaps the most intriguing DFS options though will be Juancho Hernangomez and Malik Beasley as Nuggets Head Coach Mike Malone hinted that they'll be getting additional run today.
