Jason Thompson Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Raptors starters: Delon Wright, Norman Powell, Bruno Caboclo, Jason Thompson, and Lucas Nogueira
The Raptors will roll out their B-team with the number 2 seed in the playoffs locked up. Norman Powell has the highest ceiling because he is a normal starter. All the other players are GPP dart throws with limited upside. Expect Powell to play 32-36 minutes on Wednesday.
Raptors projected starting five: Joseph, Ross, Powell, Thompson, Biyombo
The Raptors are resting most of their starters and will look to only keep Norman Powell in the lineup. Powell is averaging 24.62 DraftKings fpts over his last eleven games, making him a strong tournament option. Powell should easily play 32-34 minutes and has even played 40 minutes recently. Bismack has proven countless times this season that he is an elite value play when he starts. Biyombo is averaging 38.3 DKFP in his last four starts, making him an elite value play barely $3,500. He is slightly more on FD ($4,100) but is still a strong punt option against the Nets.
Luis Scola (rest) ruled out for Sunday
Scola has been ruled out of Sunday's tilt with the Knicks. He did not travel with the team and Jason Thompson is expected to start in his place. Thompson started on Friday and finally broke out with 22 fpts in 21 minutes. Thompson is a viable option in New York and is currently a minimum priced option on DraftKings. Thompson will have to play over 20 minutes to exceed value and could see a bump in value if any of the Raptors rest.
Raptors to start: Joseph, Powell, Johnson, Thompson, and Valanciunas on Friday
Cory Joseph, James Johnson, and Jason Thompson will replace Lowry, DeRozan, and Scola. Joseph has the highest upside of these three players but carries some risk with the total projected at 195 for the game. Powell will be a viable GPP option and should be able to play over 30 minutes on Friday.
Luis Scola is questionable for Saturday
Scola has a sore left knee and is questionable for Saturday's game against the Spurs. Jason Thompson has started the past two games and has not made much of an impact. With the possibility of Lowry or DeRozan resting, Thompson's value could open up late. We should have an update soon regarding the Raptors.
Jason Thompson starting for Luis Scola tonight
Jason Thompson will replace Luis Scola for the second time this season. Thompson is a viable punt target with his salary at a minimum across the industry. Luis Scola should return on Friday against the Grizzlies. Kyle Lowry has been confirmed as the starter but is dealing with an elbow issue.
Terrence Ross (thumb) will play on Wednesday; Luis Scola (rest) ruled out
Terrence Ross will return to the lineup after missing three games due to a thumb injury. Ross does not provide much upside and his return hurts Norman Powell's value. Powell was playing extremely well with Ross out of the lineup. Powell was averaging 26.93 DraftKings fantasy points but could see less than 30 minutes in this contest. Luis Scola is dealing with a sore knee and will be rested. His replacement has not been named at this time. Jason Thompson started for Scola recently and had 23.8 fpts in 24 minutes. Thompson is a viable tournament target if he is confirmed as the starter.
Patrick Patterson ruled out; James Johnson will return to the lineup
Patrick Patterson has been officially ruled out of the game against the Celtics. Jason Thompson will likely take over his role again and should be considered a viable punt option. Thompson has played 24+ minutes in consecutive games, averaging 21.5 DKFP. Thompson should be able to hit value against a weak Celtics interior.
Jonas Valanciunas (hand) to be available, not expected to play
Jonas Valanciunas is not expected to play even though he will be in uniform. Jason Thompson and Lucas Nogueira will both see minutes backing up Bismack Biyombo. Neither player is a high-end option but Thompson does have some upside with Patrick Patterson out of the lineup.
James Johnson (foot) and Patrick Patterson (ankle) are questionable for Sunday
James Johnson and Patrick Patterson are both questionable for Sunday's tilt with the Magic. Johnson has been a low-end DFS option all season with a ceiling of 22 fantasy points. He also has been replaced in the starting lineup by Norman Powell, who is a risky DFS proposition for Sunday. Even if Johnson does play, he would not be rosterable. Patrick Patterson has been coming off the bench for the Raptors and if he misses Sunday's game it would be the first time all season that he would be out. Jason Thompson would likely take over his role and has played decently when provided the opportunity. Look for an update regarding Patterson's status before considering Thompson.
