Kendall Marshall to start with Nik Stauskas ruled out
Marshall will be starting in place of Stauskas tonight. Nik had a sore knee and did not want to risk any further injury. Marshall is a minimum priced player across the industry that warrants a GPP dart throw with the start. He does not have a ton of upside and will not be heavily owned with the news coming out so late.
76ers injury report for today's game; Okafor confirmed as out
It has been confirmed that as announced yesterday, Jahlil Okafor will not play tonight for the 76ers when they take on the Houston Rockets. Nik Stauskas and Kendall Marshall are both probable and expected to play. The big news is Okafor sitting as it opens up the possibility of a big game for Nerlens Noel, whose usage goes up slightly when Okafor is not on the court (from 16% to 18% according to RG's CourtIQ), and perhaps more so Ish Smith whose usage climbs from 26% to 33% when Okafor is not on the court. Jerami Grant will also get a bump and is a strong play as well going against a Rockets team that is 27th in the league in fantasy points allowed per game. Stauskas and Marshall are not viable DFS options.
Nerlens Noel, Jahlil Okafor, Nik Stauskas, and Kendall Marshall all ruled out on Friday
Nerlens Noel has been ruled out with a knee injury and Jahlil Okafor has been ruled out with a shin injury. Nik Stauskas and Kendal Marshall are ruled both ruled out with an illness. The Sixers are starting two second-round picks and three undrafted players, so everyone replacing these injured players are risky options tonight.
T.J. McConnell (ankle) to play limited minutes on Friday
T.J. McConnell will be limited to 15 minutes of action tonight. McConnell missed the previous game with the injury, which allowed Kendal Marshall to play over 20 minutes for the first time since December. With McConell back in the lineup expect Marshall to be DFS irrelevant again. McConnell should also be avoided with his minutes restriction.
Kendall Marshall and Isaiah Canaan starting in Sixers backcourt
The Sixers will try to find a spark tonight with another starting lineup change. With Nerlens Noel returning tonight, Kendall Marshall will have a chance to play with him and Isaiah Canaan for only the second time this season. Marshall is on a restriction of 16 minutes, with his backcourt partner Tony Wroten. Vegas projects it to be a close game, and Canaan will likely be the PG during crunch time. It is tough to predict which player will go off from the Sixers backcourt tonight, with Canaan only having shot if he gets matched up with Jose Calderon.
Kendall Marshall to start tonight
After resting Monday night, Kendall Marshall will get the start at point guard for the 76ers tonight against Atlanta Hawks. While it's tough to trust the minutes Marshall will get (he's played just 36 minutes in his first two games), he's at a price point ($3,100 on DraftKings and $3,700 on FanDuel) that makes him a viable punt option (moreso on DK than FD) if you're looking to roster some of the higher priced players.
Kendall Marshall to start at PG for 76ers, but will be limited to 16 minutes; Tony Wroten out
Tony Wroten will take a seat tonight while Kendall Marshall draws the start at PG. Marshall will still be limited to the same 16-minute mark that Wroten was being held to, so he's not a DFS option tonight. The 76ers are in a bad spot on the back-end of a B2B against a tough Pistons defense, so there isn't any real reason to target any of them as core plays. Jahlil Okafor has some GPP appeal, as does Robert Covington and Nerlens Noel. All three have the ability to far outperform their salary, but the floor for all three is also very low. The Sixers will start Marshall, Canaan, Covington, Noel, and Okafor.
