Manu Ginobili ruled out Wednesday
The Spurs will rest Manu Ginobili tonight versus the Lakers on the back-to-back. Ginobili being out really doesn't have a whole lot of DFS impact, but Bryn Forbes and Dejounte Murray should see some extra minutes.
Pivot Off The Chalk
I expect a lot of people to pay up for Westbrook and another stud on tonight's slate, and it's starting to look like Jamal Crawford is going to be chalk tonight. Manu is usually either really good or really bad, which makes him an excellent pivot off Crawford here. He usually plays 24 to 28 minutes, while Manu is likely to play around 20 minutes. Crawford has only gone for more than 20 fantasy points twice in his last 10 games, while Manu has gone for at least 20 four times in that same span.
Manu Ginobili (bruised sternum) ruled out Sunday
Ginobili has officially been ruled out and won't play in Sunday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers after previously being listed as questionable on the San Antonio Spurs' injury report with a bruised sternum he apparently sustained sometime during Friday's loss. Meanwhile, Danny Green was not included on the injury report and will be available to play following a one-game absence due to an illness. Patty Mills ended up replacing Green in the starting lineup alongside Dejounte Murray in the backcourt and logged 33 minutes en route to easily exceeding salary-based expectations. Mills will head back to the bench to resume a reserve role for this afternoon's matchup, but he may remain in an increased role with Ginobili unavailable, albeit, less so than the previous game, while Bryn Forbes is likely to pick up any remaining minutes not absorbed by Mills, Murray, Kyle Anderson, or Tony Parker in the Spurs guard and wing rotation.
Dejounte Murray (ankle) and Manu Ginobili (rest) probable Tuesday
Murray and Ginobili have both been listed as probable on the San Antonio Spurs' injury report for Tuesday's game against the Denver Nuggets due to a sprained left ankle and possible rest, respectively. Meanwhile, LaMarcus Aldridge, Kawhi Leonard, and Rudy Gay all remain sidelined with their respective ailments. The Spurs are playing the second leg of a back-to-back set, so even with the probable designation, Ginobili and players like Pau Gasol and Tony Parker remain potential rest candidates. Murray logged 28 minutes in Tuesday's loss, so his designation on the injury report is likely more precautionary than anything else, and he continues to lead the Spurs with a +5.7% usage rate differential with Aldridge, Leonard, and Gay off the court this season while averaging 1.09 fantasy points per minute on DraftKings and FanDuel in this scenario as well.
Manu Ginobili (thigh contusion) will play Sunday
Ginobili has officially been cleared to play and will suit up for tonight's game against the Sacramento Kings after previously being listed as questionable on the San Antonio Spurs' injury report with a right thigh contusion that had forced him to miss six consecutive games. The Spurs are still without Kawhi Leonard and Rudy Gay for the foreseeable future, which means that Kyle Anderson will continue to start at small forward and has been a consistent source of fantasy value despite coming off two straight down games. Dejounte Murray recently took over the starting point guard role from Tony Parker, who has not logged more than 21 minutes in any game since the lineup change, but it does remain to be seen who's playing time suffers from Ginobili being back in the rotation. With Leonard and Gay off the court this season, Murray does own a +2.0% usage rate differential and has averaged 1.02 fantasy points per minute on DraftKings and FanDuel as well.
LaMarcus Aldridge (rest) and Manu Ginobili (thigh) ruled out Wednesday
Aldridge is a new addition to the San Antonio Spurs' injury report and has been ruled out for tonight's game against the Memphis Grizzlies due to rest purposes on the second night of a back-to-back set after logging 40 minutes in Tuesday's win, while Manu Ginobili will remain sidelined for the fifth consecutive game with a right thigh contusion. Pau Gasol was not included on the injury report and will make his return from a one-game absence due to a sprained left wrist. In Aldridge's absence, Davis Bertans will likely remain the starting lineup at power forward and has consistently been logging minutes in the low-20s off the bench even with Aldridge available. On top of that, Bertans is coming off of a stellar fantasy performance relative to his salary in 29 minutes in his spot start in place of Gasol Tuesday evening. Dejounte Murray replaced Tony Parker in the starting lineup on Sunday and, according to head coach Gregg Popovich, will retain the role for the remainder of the season. With the aforementioned injured players off the court this season, Murray owns a massive +9.3% usage rate differential, equating to a 31.2% usage rate overall, and has also seen his production skyrocket to 1.24 fantasy points per minute on DraftKings and 1.26 on FanDuel in this scenario.
Kawhi Leonard (shoulder), Danny Green (groin), and Manu Ginobili (rest) ruled out Monday
Leonard and Green have been ruled out and won't play in tonight's game against the Sacramento Kings due to a strained right shoulder and left groin tightness, respectively, while Manu Ginobili has been ruled out for rest purposes on the second leg of a back-to-back set. Tony Parker was not included in the latest version of the San Antonio Spurs' injury report and will be available to play after being rested in Sunday's loss. Kyle Anderson and Bryn Forbes have typically started in games that Leonard and Green have been unavailable, and they'll likely do so once again this evening. Anderson has been the more consistent fantasy producer of the two and has a sizable minute floor in the mid-30s with Leonard, Green, and Rudy Gay all sidelined. With the aforementioned players of the court this season, Parker owns the largest usage rate differential at +6.9% in only 35.4 minutes, while LaMarcus Aldridge leads the Spurs with a 31.3% usage rate overall and has averaged 1.22 fantasy points per minute on DraftKings and 1.20 on FanDuel in this scenario.
Kawhi Leonard (rest), Tony Parker (rest), Manu Ginobili (rest), and Danny Green (groin) ruled out Wednesday
Leonard, Parker, and Ginobili have all been added to the San Antonio Spurs' injury report and have been ruled out for tonight's game against the Philadelphia 76ers due to rest purposes, while Danny Green will also be unavailable after his playing status was previously undetermined due to left groin tightness. The Spurs will also be without Rudy Gay, who remains sidelined for at least two weeks with right heel bursitis, so Kyle Anderson, Dejounte Murray, and Bryn Forbes are the likeliest candidates to be inserted into the starting lineup at small forward, point guard, and shooting guard, respectively. Murray and Forbes' playing time has been a bit sporadic in their spot starts, but Anderson appears to be locked into a heavy minute load with so many Spurs wing players unavailable this evening. That said, with the aforementioned players off the court this season, it's been Murray and Anderson that have benefited the most, as each own at least a +7.2% usage rate differential and see their per minute production skyrocket to well over a fantasy point per minute a piece in this scenario.
Pau Gasol (groin) and Danny Green (groin) questionable Thursday; Manu Ginobili (rest) ruled out
Gasol and Green have both officially been listed as questionable on the San Antonio Spurs' injury report for tonight's game against the Utah Jazz due to groin tightness, while Manu Ginobili has officially been ruled out for rest purposes on the second night of a back-to-back set after previously being listed as questionable on the latest version of the Spurs' game notes. Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker will make their returns from a one-game absence due to rest and are expected to resume their normal roles in the starting lineup, but Leonard will remain on a minute restriction and has yet to play more than 16 minutes in any game this season. That said, the Spurs will have some reinforcements on the wing if Green is eventually ruled out, as Kyle Anderson logged 24 minutes off the bench in his first game back following an eight-game injury stint with a knee injury. There are several different ways that head coach Gregg Popovich can go with his starting lineup if both Green and Gasol are unavailable, but the likeliest candidates to start would be Bryn Forbes and Rudy Gay, a move that would slide LaMarcus Aldridge over to the center spot and make senses against the Jazz' new-look, small-ball starting lineup sans Rudy Gobert.
Pau Gasol (rest) and Manu Ginobil (rest) ruled out Saturday; Danny Green (groin) a game-time decision
Gasol and Ginobili won’t travel with the team to Phoenix for tonight’s game against the Suns and have officially been ruled out for rest purposes, while Danny Green’s status remains uncertain and is likely to be a game-time decision due to left groin tightness. The Spurs are already without Kyle Anderson and Kawhi Leonard and there have been rumblings among the Spurs beat reporters that Tony Parker could be rested, as well, but nothing official has been confirmed by the team at the time of this writing. The remaining active Spurs players will find themselves in a pristine matchup with a putrid Suns defensive unit, and Dejounte Murray and Patty Mills have led the way with at least a +7.7% usage rate differential with the aforementioned players off the court this season (including Parker) while LaMarcus Aldridge leads the team by a wide margin with a rate of 1.56 fantasy points per minute and will now be a priority option in all formats on Saturday's slate.
