Nick Young Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Sneaky Man to Get Rotation Minutes

The Cavs, in their final two wins against the Celtics, went small with Jeff Green at the four, and even with the return of Kevin Love (if he is cleared), they are likely to play a lot of small ball in this series. With Iggy out for Game 1, there are rotation minutes available for another wing, and I believe that guy will be Nick Young. The Warriors have been happy with his defense this year, and if he makes shots he will stay on the floor and rack up the fantasy points in a hurry.

Hunting for Some GPP Value

One of the best ways to differentiate your lineups tonight might be to hope for a blowout and target some punt plays. If Golden State gets a huge lead in the game, the likes of Jordan Bell and Nick Young become really interesting punts in tournaments, as they will also help you to load up on some higher-end plays that will be a big part of the action in the first three quarters. This is a great method by which to try to get a unique lineup in these large field, high variant GPP games.

Nick Young sticks in starting five with Stephen Curry coming off the bench

Curry will come off the bench in his first game back, but is reportedly not on a minutes restriction if Kerr's comments yesterday are any indication. Expect Nick Young to see close to his minutes allotment from Game 1 (21), although that number likely falls into the high-teens with Quinn Cook falling out of the rotation entirely unless this one gets ugly.

Nick Young will start Saturday, JaVale McGee to the bench

The Warriors will go small ball right off the bat, as Nick Young will enter the starting lineup for game 1 versus the Pelicans. JaVale McGee will head to the bench after playing well versus San Antonio. It was rumored that Kevon Looney might start, but he should still get some decent minutes off the bench. Young is worth a look for your DFS lineups, as he is dirt cheap.

Nick Young will play Thursday

Nick Young will play tonight for the Warriors against the Pacers. He was listed questionable earlier in the day because of an illness. He still must not be feeling great, because Steve Kerr said Young would have his minutes monitored tonight. For that reason, Young isn't a DFS target tonight.

Patrick McCaw (back) and Nick Young (knee) will start Sunday

The Golden State Warriors are without Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson for Sunday's matchup with the Utah Jazz, marking the first time all season, which has forced head coach Steve Kerr to start Kevon Looney and JaVale McGee alongside Patrick McCaw in the frontcourt, sending Jordan Bell and Zaza Pachulia to the bench. With Curry sidelined for at least three weeks, Kerr has already confirmed that Quinn Cook will start at point guard alongside Nick Young in the backcourt, and given his recent performances, should more than likely continue starting for the duration of Curry's absence. The Warriors are poised to receive some reinforcements in the coming days with Green presumably close to returning and Kevin Durant targeting a return later in the week, possibly for Tuesday or Thursday's contests. Outside of Cook, both Young and Andre Iguodala have been the main beneficiaries with Curry, Durant, Gren, and Thompson off the court, as each own at least a +6.4% usage rate differential and experience a minimum of a +0.10 increase to their per minute production as well.

Injuries Creating Opportunity for this Veteran Scorer

Golden State should still be missing a trio of starters tonight, with Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green all out for the Warriors, meaning Nick Young should see another start tonight against Atlanta. With those three off the court, Young sees a 26.6% usage rate that is a 7.6% increase from his normal mark, and averages 0.8 fantasy points per minute. Shaggy P has averaged 37 minutes over his last four games, so if those numbers hold true tonight, Nick Young should be a salary bargain at $4,600 on DraftKings and $5,000 on FanDuel.

Draymond Green (shoulder) and Zaza Pachulia (shoulder) doubtful for Thursday

Green did not practice and has been listed as doubtful on the Golden State Warriors' injury report for tomorrow's game against the Dallas Mavericks due to a sore right shoulder that forced him to be a surprise late scratch for Monday's contest, while Zaza Pachulia has also been listed as doubtful due to sore left shoulder and Nick Young didn't participate in practice and remains in the concussion protocol, effectively ruling him out for Thursday's contest. The Warriors will still be without Stephen Curry and with Green and Pachulia appearing unlikely to play, Omri Casspi and Jordan Bell figure to remain in the starting lineup for the second time in as many games, though it's certainly possible head coach Steve Kerr opts to start JaVale McGee at center again. Either way, barring a significant price increase, Bell figures to provide great value on Thursday's slate after easily exceeding salary-based expectations in 25 minutes of action on Monday evening. Meanwhile, Kevin Durant continues to produce in Curry's absence and both he and Klay Thompson own at least a +3.4% usage rate differential with the aforementioned players off the court this season, adding to their appeal in all formats while Curry, Green, and Pachulia remain sidelined with their respective ailments.

Nick Young remains OUT for Lakers

Nick Young will remain out tonight but he has not yet been ruled out for the remainder of the season. This should mean a few more minutes for Larry Nance and David Nwaba but neither are viable DFS options.

Brandon Ingram (right patella tendinitis) probable for Friday

Brandon Ingram has been logging major minutes and it seems to be finally catching up to him after he played sparingly to start the season. The Lakers are lacking in options behind Ingram but could use Nick Young at small forward if Ingram is limited at all. Since Ingram is listed as probable we should expect him to play against the Timberwolves.
