Backup goalie could produce in a big way tonight

As per usual, taking goalies against the Carolina Hurricanes is worth your consideration. The Carolina Hurricanes lead the National Hockey League in shots on goal per game (41.8), but sit 14th overall in scoring at 3.22 goals per game. Aaron Dell has been rock solid in San Jose, posting a 27-11 record and .920 save percentage in 51 appearances. With Philipp Grubauer certain to be popular given the likelihood of the win, and the fact Colorado allows their fair share of shots per game (34.3), Aaron Dell is a nice way to differentiate, especially on DraftKings where he is $1,000 cheaper than Grubauer.

Save some money with this netminder against winless team

Other than the five goal outburst against the Carolina Hurricanes last time out, the Rangers have struggled to find any sort of traction offensively. In their opener they did find two goals against the Predators, but one of them was a consolation prize in the dying moments of the third period. Tonight Rangers' skipper David Quinn has decided to bench Kevin Shattenkirk in an effort to get him going, thus removing one of the National Hockey League's most efficient producers on the power play. The Sharks were dominant last time out and is the kind of game they needed to get going after their poor effort in Brooklyn Monday afternoon. Considering Dell's price, the likelihood of the win, and the Rangers averaging nearly 35 shots on goal per game, Jones is an interesting choice in all formats.

This goaltender is in a great road matchup

It is always tough to use a goaltender on the road, but Aaron Dell is in a pretty good spot tonight. His team is on a back to back which can be troublesome if they are sluggish, but taking on the Detroit Red Wings should help mitigate that a bit. The Red Wings average just 2.56 goals per game, which is the fifth lowest in the NHL which correlates to their lack of shooting averaging just 29.6 shots per game, the second lowest in the NHL. Dell is really going to have to be on his game tonight as he may not see the shot volume to accumulate saves to make up any goals against he may allow. Because of this, he is a bit risky as even with a win he may not get the score you would like to see. However, his shutout upside is as good as any other on this slate so there is still GPP upside here. He's mid-priced compared to the other goaltenders on this slate, but he isn't necessarily cheap at $7,700 on DraftKings.

Top Goalie Tonight?

It is kind of an ugly slate in terms of finding a reliable option in goal for your cash game lineup. With that being said, I will likely be rolling with San Jose Sharks goaltender Aaron Dell. Even though San Jose played last night in Los Angeles, I still expect them to control this game from puck drop, and the Sharks should easily come away with the win. The Arizona Coyotes may be home and rested, but they are still not an offensive threat (ranking 30th overall in the National Hockey League in goals per game this year), and Dell has been terrific in goal for the Sharks this season, posting a 2.29 GAA and a .924 SV%. Dell may not be the highest scoring goalie on the night, but he appears to be the safest.
