Al-Farouq Aminu Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Al-Farouq Aminu (knee), Cole Anthony (shoulder), James Ennis (groin), and Evan Fournier (back) all ruled out on Sunday

The Magic injury woes continue, as all four players that were listed questionable have been ruled out and the Magic will take on the Phoenix Suns very shorthanded. All of the players have had various lengths with their injuries; Fournier is missing his fifth straight with lower back spasms, Aminu and Anthony are missing their third straight with knee and shoulder injuries, and Ennis is missing his first game after injuring his right groin on Friday. The Magic only have eight healthy bodies, and Terrence Ross moves into the starting lineup to help MCW with ballhandling duties. Because so many of the Magic players are only playable at the frontcourt positions, MCW, Bacon and Ross will be forced to play minutes in the thirties, and room for much more if the game stays close against the Suns. There is a limited sample size in CourtIQ of all the injuries since rarely is a team so shorthanded, but Bacon has averaged 1.04 FPM in 83 minutes with all the injured Magic players off the court.

Take the Value Where we Can Find it

Tonight marks the smallest slate that we have seen in quite some time. Pricing is fairly efficient with the exception of the Blazers. On DraftKings, they are priced down for a matchup against the Thunder, who have been elite on the defensive end of the floor this season. The Blazers are playing at home and see a significant pace boost in this matchup. Al-Farouq Aminu stands out as a great value at $3,900.

Necessary Salary Relief

It's not sexy, but this two game slate is going to require us to take some "unsexy" value if you want to get the likes of Lillard, George, and Westbrook into your lineups. I'm most intrigued by Aminu, who should be a lock for around 30 minutes and remains with a sub-$5,000 price tag on both major sites. His last few games have not been glamorous, but all we need is for him to give us 25 or so in the fantasy point department, and I feel better about his odds than the likes of, say, Terrance Ferguson. It is what it is on a two game slate.

High Floor at this Price Point

Al-Farouq Aminu rarely cracks the 30 minute mark, but that doesn't he doesn't offer a high floor. He has scored at least 20 fantasy points in nine of his last 10 games. At a price of only $4,000 on DraftKings, he only needs 20 fantasy points to reach value. This makes him a strong play in cash games and in tournaments, given the fact that his ownership will be reasonable. He draws an exploitable matchup against the Grizzlies, who are ranked 29th in efficiency against power forwards over the last 10 games.

Big Cheapy

While Aminu has been a little hit or miss this year, but this is a spot where the chances are pretty darn good that he will pay off huge. Aminu has at least 28 minutes in the last 3 games and a matchup against the Lakers who have height at every single position, should increase his minutes. The Lakers have been one of the worst rebounding teams in the NBA (-3.4 Rebounding Differential) and are playing at the 4th fastest pace in the league. Although Aminu didn't payoff in their first matchup, he is still in the game with the highest Total on the slate and the Lakers are playing at the 4th fastest pace in the league. You can lock Aminu in for around 30 points with a possibility of 40

Big Men Could Feast Tonight In High-Scoring Game

Portland is favored against the Lakers tonight by 3 points in the game with the highest Vegas point total on the slate. While Damian Lillard is certainly in play for this game, for GPPs it may be a good choice to look at the big men for the Trailblazers. The Lakers rank 28th in the league in opponent points scored, 23rd in rebounding differential, and most importantly, last in the league in points in the paint allowed. Jusuf Nurkic and Al-Farouq Aminu are affordable across DFS sites and could put up big scores against a Lakers team that has clear trouble in the paint.

Take Advantage On DraftKings and FantasyDraft

With Moe Harkless ruled out again tonight, Al-Farouq Aminu should continue to play around 30 minutes. For some reason he's very cheap on DraftKings and FantasyDraft tonight, and in this fast-paced matchup, he should be able to pay off this price tag. I'd expect him to be higher owned at this price tag, but he has over 25 fantasy points in three of his last five games. I could see going somewhere else in tournaments, but I think he's a good cash game option tonight.

The Series Built For Aminu

Aminu is the perfect long defender needed to guard Mirotic in this series and he's responded by playing well. I expect nothing to change here in Game 4 and think 30-35 fantasy points is quite likely to occur which is more than fine for his salary industry wide. Also with this be a win or go home scenario I could see him approach 40+ minutes today.

Banged Up Team Leads To More Opportunity

With Portland banged up this should lead to more opportunities for Amiinu. He is going to see a ton of minutes and is way too cheap around the industry. I love targeting the Pelicans on defense and Aminu should really thrive in this game environment. He is currently lock in on both my cash game lineups on FanDuel and DraftKings.

Cash Game Value Play

There are obviously a lot of star players to pay up for in the playoffs, and the dynamic of DFS shifts drastically. We no longer have the easy value picks as a result of players "resting" as we get to this stage. As such, we have to lower our standards for value plays a little bit. Aminu stands out as a solid option today, as he will play heavy minutes in the absence of Harkless. This is also an up-tempo matchup against the Pelicans, and Aminu matches up better with a guy like Mirotic than anyone else in the Portland frontcourt. If he plays 34-38 minutes today, he should be a lock to hit value at this affordable price point.
