Aldrick Robinson Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Giants CB Janoris Jenkins reinstated from suspension

Jenkins was suspended Week 9 for violating team rules. He'll return this weekend to take on the 49ers and may follow Marquise Goodwin on the outside. Even if he doesn't, Goodwin runs the majority of his routes to Jenkins' preferred side. The CB has held opposing QBs to the 16th-lowest passer rating this season (per PFF), setting up a tough spot for Goodwin to connect with struggling QB C.J. Beathard. After Trent Taylor went down with a fractured rib in Week 9, Aldrick Robinson slipped into the slot often - 55% of his routes - and if he follows a similar pattern, that would set him up with Domique Rodgers-Cromartie quite a bit. DRC has allowed a catch on 10-of-12 targets when lined up inside for 119 yards and a touchdown while his yards per cover snap (1.06) and cover snaps per reception (11.2) are towards the middle of the pack. Kendrick Bourne picked up more snaps (40 total) in place of Taylor, running most of his routes where Eli Apple will likely be on Sunday. Apple has allowed a league-high six touchdowns this season and a 116 passer rating. On top of losing Pierre Garcon and Taylor, the 49ers lost George Kittle for at least a week, leaving San Francisco with Garrett Celek as their lead tight end in a terrific matchup for the position. The Giants are allowing the most PPR points to TEs and they're giving up the most touchdowns to the position by a wide margin - across eight games, opposing tight ends are averaging 1.1 scores against them while the Browns, the second-worst team, are permitting 0.8. Celek hasn't caught more than one pass in any contest this season but he flashed a bit of upside last year with two games over 70 yards and three total scores.

George Kittle and Trent Taylor ruled out for Week 10

Both players suffered injuries Sunday. Kittle is dealing with an ankle issue but managed to finish the game. Even so, coach Kyle Shanahan has ruled him out of their upcoming matchup with the Giants. Fellow tight end Cole Hikutini is heading for the IR, leaving San Francisco with Garrett Celek as their lead tight end in a terrific matchup for the position. The Giants are allowing the most PPR points to TEs this season and are giving up the most touchdowns to the position by a wide margin - across eight games, opposing tight ends are averaging 1.1 scores against them while the Browns, the second-worst team, are permitting 0.8. Celek hasn't caught more than one pass in any contest this season but he flashed a bit of upside last year with two games over 70 yards and three total scores. Taylor fractured a rib last game and Kendrick Bourne ended up playing a season-high 40 snaps while he picked up his first two receptions of the season (39 yards) on six targets. Aldrick Robinson, who entered the starting lineup for the injured Pierre Garcon, ran 55% of his routes out of the slot with Taylor down. Depending on how Janoris Jenkins' disciplinary suspension shakes out, Robinson could end up with a great matchup with Giants CB Ross Cockrell, who gave up a 5/7/75/1 line out of the slot against the Rams yesterday and would have the most yards per cover snap when lined up inside on the season (2.44 ,per PFF) if he had enough snaps to qualify. If Jenkins returns, Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie would likely slip back into the slot; he's allowed a catch on 10-of-12 targets when inside for 119 yards and a touchdown while his yards per cover snap (1.06) and cover snaps per reception (11.2) are towards the middle of the pack.

Week 9 injury roundup

Jameis Winston reinjured his throwing shoulder when he took a hit in the second quarter Sunday. Ryan Fitzpatrick entered and finished the game with eight completions for 68 yards and a touchdown. Winston's injury has been lingering for a few games and he almost got pulled by coach Dirk Koetter last week. It's possible the team decides to give him some time to rehab, which seems like the right move, but with six losses already, they're entering desperation mode. If he ends up playing, he'll take on the Jets, whose defense has allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to QBs this season. Even in the favorable matchup, he and his pass-catchers will carry some risk due to the injury concerns surrounding Winston's throwing arm. If Fitzpatrick gets the start, it won't help the skill players but he'll have a revenge narrative going for him. DE William Gholston suffered an odd-looking neck injury Sunday. He was declared "neurologically sound" but the team offered no further updates beyond that. With DE Noah Spence already out, the Bucs could be very thin on the edge this weekend. LT Donovan Smith was forced from the game as well due to a knee injury. The Bucs offensive line has posted the sixth-best pass-blocking efficiency this season, his absence would be a slight downgrade but he's PFF's 51st tackle in pass protection.

Dez Bryant hurt his ankle and left Sunday's game in the fourth. All reports, including one from Dez himself, indicate this injury isn't serious and he'll suit up in Week 10. Teammate Terrance Williams tweaked his knee towards the end of the contest. There isn't much more to go on at this point, we'll have to see if he's able to practice during the week. The Cowboys visit the Falcons on Sunday. Bryant doesn't line up on CB Desmond Trufant's side often which should leave him with Robert Alford, PFF's 75th-ranked cover corner, most of the afternoon. Alford is coming off a solid game in which he limited Panthers receivers to a 3/26/0 line after being targeted eight times. Despite picking up 11 looks against the Chiefs, Bryant finished with six catches for 73 scoreless yards. Williams was much better, hauling in all of his season-high nine passes for 141 yards and no scores. He'll battle Trufant, who's ninth in yards per cover snap (0.71) but has allowed the fifth-most touchdowns (4). The Cowboys lost LT Tryon Smith during the game, the 13th-ranked tackle in pass protection. He was replaced by Chaz Greene, who's 48th in the area and would present an upgrade for the Falcons pass rush on Sunday. Even so, Atlanta was just 26th in adjusted sack rate heading into Week 9 (per FO) and only came away with one sack against Carolina's 22nd-ranked offensive line in pass blocking efficiency.

Eddie Lacy left Sunday's game with a groin injury after picking up six carries for 20 yards. As expected, he got the start and was leading the backfield on early downs. Thomas Rawls manned that role following Lacy's exit and posted a season-high 39 yards on 4.3 yards per carry and added two receptions for 31 yards. It'll be worth keeping an eye on this situation as Seattle has a short week ahead of their Thursday night game against the Cardinals. Earlier today, Pete Carroll said he isn't sure how serious the injury is. If Lacy is out, it could leave Rawls with a ton of snaps. It's a tough matchup for backs though; Arizona ranks seventh in yards per carry (3.7) and they're holding RBs to the 11th-fewest PPR points this season. On Sunday, they limited Carlos Hyde to 41 rushing yards on 12 carries but allowed him to haul in nine catches for 84. C.J. Prosise is expected to play Thursday and take over the passing-down role, so Rawls won't receive many opportunities to exploit any weaknesses in coverage.

Zay Jones is considered day-to-day after tweaking his knee Thursday night. He won't practice Monday but he has a chance to suit up this weekend against the Saints. With Kelvin Benjamin in the fold, Jones is expected to switch the Z role while his new teammate takes over the X. That will allow him a better release as he'll often be lined up off the line of scrimmage, providing some extra yards between him and cornerbacks, and could take some of the defense's attention off him. The change should make a difference right away as Saints CB Marshon Lattimore, PFF's top-graded corner, will likely follow Benjamin around this weekend. Lattimore shut down Mike Evans yesterday and the Bucs top WR finished with just one catch for 13 yards. That'll leave Jones, who's coming off his best game of the season (6/53/1), with Ken Crawley, the 44th-ranked CB in yards per cover snap (1.14, per PFF). He's limited receivers to a 48% catch rate though and Jones has had some serious efficiency problems so far. Charles Clay and CB E.J. Gaines are both considered day-to-day and won't practice Monday. If Gaines misses more time, it would make things easier for Michael Thomas and Ted Ginn on the outside.

Ryan Griffin is in the concussion protocol and may not be able to clear it this week as it's his second of the year. TE C.J. Fiedorowicz is expected to be activated from the IR and play this weekend, so even if Griffin is cleared, he won't have much fantasy appeal. It'll be a difficult matchup for Fiedo; in addition to having Tom Savage under center, he'll have to battle a Rams defense that ranked fourth in TE DVOA heading into Week 9. They successfully shut down Evan Engram for most of the game Sunday, limiting him to just four catches on ten targets, although the rookie nabbed a garbage time score to save his fantasy day. Through nine weeks, the Rams are allowing the tenth-fewest PPR points per game to TEs. CB Jonathan Joseph also left Sunday's game early with a leg injury, although details weren't immediately clear. He's the best cornerback on a poor pass defense; his absence would make the Rams offense even more appealing this Sunday.

49ers S Jaquiski Tartt fractured his arm, ending his season. It's the second safety the 49ers have lost in as many weeks, leaving them thin in the secondary. Tartt was having a terrific season, earning PFF's 11th-best safety grade. Rookie Adrian Colbert will start in his place going forward, he would be 63rd in coverage if he had enough snaps to qualify. That sets up a welcoming spot for Evan Engram this weekend. On the other side of the ball, Trent Taylor is believed to have cracked ribs and may miss some time. Kendrick Bourne ended up playing a season-high 40 snaps and picked up his first two receptions of the season (39 yards) on six targets. Aldrick Robinson, who entered the starting lineup for the injured Pierre Garcon, ended up running 55% of his routes out of the slot with Taylor down. Depending on how Janoris Jenkins' disciplinary suspension shakes out, Robinson could end up with a great matchup with Giants CB Ross Cockrell, who gave up a 5/7/75/1 line out of the slot against the Rams yesterday and would have the most yards per cover snap when lined up inside on the season (2.44) if he had enough snaps to qualify. If Jenkins returns, Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie would likely slip back into the slot; he's allowed a catch on 10-of-12 targets in that position for 119 yards and a touchdown while his yards per cover snap (1.06) and cover snaps per reception (11.2) are in the middle of the pack.

Saints DB Kenny Vaccaro was held out of the second half of Week 9's game for precautionary reasons after he tweaked his groin. Vaccaro has moved from safety to slot corner this season. Since Week 4 (his second game as a full-time slot CB), Vaccaro is eighth in yards per cover snap when lined up inside (0.83) and seventh in cover snaps per reception (12.8). That sets up a challenging matchup for Cole Beasley this weekend if the corner is able to suit up.

Jaguars DE Dante Fowler, who's 18th in the league with 5.5 sacks despite not starting, exited Sunday's contest with an elbow injury. If he's unable to play this weekend, it would be a slight downgrade for their pass-rush against the Chargers. On the offensive side of things, LT Cam Robinson left after re-aggravating an ankle injury. He's PFF's 67th tackle among 74 qualifiers.

Chiefs DL Allen Bailey is reportedly dealing with an MCL sprain and could miss some time. He's an important element of their run defense and currently has the 20th-best run-stop rate. The Chiefs are already struggling to defend opposing ground games, allowing the third-most ypc (4.8) and second-most rushing touchdowns (9); Bailey's absence would make them even weaker. He'll have a Week 10 bye to get healthy ahead of their Week 11 game against the Giants. Orleans Darkwa seems to have taken over the backfield, leading the group with 18 touches on Sunday but he still only played 50% of the snaps.

Dolphins RT Ja'Wuan James left in the fourth quarter with a hamstring issue. He would present a huge loss for Miami's pass protection if he can't play this weekend. James is PFF's fourth-ranked tackle in pass blocking and he's only given up 11 pressures all season, the seventh-fewest.

Bengals RT Jake Fisher was taken to the hospital with an undisclosed illness after leaving Sunday's game. He's earned PFF's 58th-best tackle grade but it's unlikely Cincinatti will improve by going to their bench. Fortunately, they don't have a strong opponent in the Titans this weekend, whose defensive line ranked 30th in adjusted sack rate and 19th in adjusted line yards heading into Week 9.

Giants LB Keenan Robinson suffered a quad injury. The Giants are already very banged up on defense with fellow LBs B.J. Goodson and Jonathan Cassillas sidelined along with DEs Olivier Vernon and Kerry Wynn. On top of that, CB Janoris Jenkins was suspended last game. He's expected back for Week 10 but that hasn't been made official yet. They're currently 1.5-point underdogs against the 49ers in Week 10 following their blowout loss against the Rams this past weekend. Even the winless 49ers may be able to produce some offense against the Giants defense.

Pierre Garcon headed to IR, out for season

Garcon's neck injury is apparently severe enough to end his season. His absence will elevate Marquise Goodwin into the WR1 role and should provide a big boost for Aldrick Robinson. In Week 9, Goodwin may be shadowed by Patrick Peterson, the top cornerback in both yards per cover snap (0.32) and cover snaps per reception (36.9). Robinson filled in for Goodwin back in Week 4 against the Cardinals and piled up 12 targets while Peterson chased Garcon. He'll primarily see CB Tramon Williams, who was responsible for six catches and 62 yards on eight targets in his first start last week. Robinson is an interesting value option at just $4.0k on DraftKings and $4.8k on FanDuel this week.

Pierre Garcon didn't practice Thursday

It's the second missed practice in a row for Garcon as he deals with a neck injury. If he's able to play this weekend, he'll likely be shadowed by Patrick Peterson, limiting his upside in fantasy. Peterson is the top cornerback in both yards per cover snap (0.32) and cover snaps per reception (36.9). If Garcon is out, it'll provide more snaps/opportunities for Marquise Goodwin, Trent Taylor, and Aldrick Robinson, although Goodwin is at risk of being chased by Peterson. As a team, the Cardinals are 11th in pass DVOA but they're giving up the fourth-most PPR points to receivers. That's in large part due to Justin Bethel, who's been charged with a league-high six touchdowns and the second-most yards. He was benched last game in favor of Tramon Williams. Although Williams didn't give up a score, he wasn't good, the corner was responsible for six catches and 62 yards on eight targets against the Rams. Goodwin may be better off if Garcon plays while Robinson would be an appealing value option if Garcon sits.

49ers will start C.J. Beathard Week 9; Pierre Garcon didn't practice Wednesday

The 49ers aren't going to rush Jimmy Garoppolo onto the field, they'll wait until he's comfortable with the playbook. Beathard hasn't been good over the past three games. He's posted a 22.5 QBR and despite throwing at least 36 times in each game, he's only averaged 215.7 yards per game (5.9 ypa) with two total touchdowns to three interceptions. San Francisco's line is very banged up and they've already allowed the fifth-most pressures this season (107, per PFF). Last week, Beathard was under pressure on a ridiculous 60% of his throws. Although the Cardinals, their Week 9 opponent, only rank 29th in adjusted sack rate (per PFF), they could still find success against this 49ers unit. If Pierre Garcon (neck) plays, he'll likely be shadowed by Patrick Peterson, limiting his upside in fantasy and what he can do for Beathard.

Week 8 injury roundup

Zach Miller dislocated his knee while trying to reel in a touchdown Sunday. He underwent major surgery last night in an effort to save his leg. Dion Sims and rookie Adam Shaheen will pick up more snaps and touches going forward. It’s another major blow to Chicago’s passing game, they’ll continue to hand off the ball to Jordan Howard as much as game flow allows. Howard will face a Green Bay Packers rush defense in Week 9 that ranks 18th in DVOA (per FO) and is allowing the fourth-most PPR points to RBs.

Jordan Reed exited Sunday’s game with a hamstring issue. He hasn’t been fully healthy all season and fellow tight end Niles Paul is now in the concussion protocol. That could potentially leave Vernon Davis with a huge role in Seattle in Week 9. The Seahawks pass defense got worked by Deshaun Watson and company but only two of the quarterback’s passes went to his tight ends. Overall, they’ve been pretty solid against the better TEs they’ve faced, limiting Jack Doyle, Martellus Bennett, and Delanie Walker to 43 scoreless yards or less each. Evan Engram did the most damage, finishing with a 6/60/1 line but he wasn’t particularly efficient considering he saw 12 targets in that contest. As a unit, Seattle ranked sixth in TE DVOA heading into Week 8. Washington will head into this contest with a banged-up offensive line that had three starters inactive Sunday and starting LG Shawn Lauvao exited early with a stinger. Seattle’s defense could be a popular fantasy option if they don’t get healthier up front.

Cole Beasley has entered the concussion protocol. He only played 48% of the team’s snaps over the past five games and he hasn’t topped 33 yards all season. Whether he plays or not, the Cowboys will try to employ a run-heavy approach. As seen yesterday when Bryant was chirping at coaches and quarterback Dak Prescott on the sidelines, this approached doesn’t seem to sit well with him. He hasn’t hit 100 receiving yards all season and he’s only topped 63 once. He had a tough matchup with Josh Norman and Quinton Dunbar this weekend though, and he’ll have a better one next Sunday against the Chiefs. He only runs 27% of his routes on Marcus Peters’ side, leaving him with Terrance Mitchell, PFF’s 84th cover corner, the most.

Pierre Garcon suffered an apparent neck injury and didn’t end up playing much in the second half of Sunday’s game. Afterward, he said he expects to play in Week 9 but it’s worth keeping an eye on him. If he suits up, he could be shadowed by Patrick Peterson, setting up an advantage for Marquise Goodwin. If he misses, it would elevate Aldrick Robinson into the starting lineup.

Chris Hogan left Week 8 early with a shoulder injury and was seen sporting a sling after the game. The Patriots are on a bye this week and then head to Denver for a tough matchup in Week 10. If Hogan isn’t able to return, it could open up snaps for Danny Amendola and Phillip Dorsett.

49ers S Jimmie Ward has a fractured forearm and is out indefinitely. On top of that, the 49ers lost starting LT Joe Staley, who’s dealing with a fractured orbital bone, and backup RT Garry Gilliam, who was filling in for the injured Trent Brown, left early with a knee issue. Quarterback C.J. Beathard was sacked four times and threw two interceptions Sunday while facing pressure on 27 of his 45 dropbacks. Although Arizona’s defensive line is 29th in adjusted sack rate, they could find success against this banged-up 49ers unit. Solomon Thomas has been diagnosed with an MCL sprain and is expected to miss a couple games. With DE Arik Armstead already on the IR, the 49ers will be without their two starting edge defenders.

Jets CB Morris Claiborne was successfully shutting down Julio Jones in shadow coverage until he went down with a foot injury in the third quarter. Naturally, Jones immediately reeled in a 53-yard grab as soon as Claiborne hobbled off. Although an x-ray came back negative yesterday, he’ll undergo further testing today. He’s got a short week to recover as the Jets host the Bills on Thursday night. Slot corner Buster Skrine was inactive Sunday with a concussion and he’s in danger of missing Week 9 as well, setting up a better spot for Tyrod Taylor and his pass-catchers. Receivers Andre Holmes, Zay Jones, and Jordan Matthews all caught exactly three passes in Week 8. Matthews could benefit from Skrine’s absence in the slot but he hasn’t seen more than five targets in any game this season. LeSean McCoy continues to pace the Bills with 46 targets and 38 receptions.

Eagles CB Patrick Robinson entered the concussion protocol Sunday. He’s been terrific this season, earning PFF’s fourth-best corner grade. It’s possible CB Ronald Darby remains sidelined in Week 9, which would leave Philly’s pass defense very vulnerable against the Broncos. It’s not clear if Emmanuel Sanders will be able to play tonight against the Chiefs, but he should be back for Week 9 and he travels to the slot more than Demaryius Thomas – 24% of his routes.

Seahawks S Earl Thomas injured his hamstring Sunday and he’ll undergo an MRI today to figure out the extent of the injury. For what it’s worth, he’s confident he can play this weekend but it’s worth keeping an eye on PFF’s sixth-ranked cover safety this week. The Seahawks host the Redskins this weekend, Thomas’ potential absence could open up some downfield opportunities for quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Bengals DE Michael Johnson suffered a back injury in Week 8, opening up snaps for Jordan Willis. Although he’s seen a somewhat limited role this season, Willis has earned PFF’s 24th-best run defense grade among edge defenders. If Johnson isn’t able to go this weekend, Willis will try to help the team stop Leonard Fournette, who’s expected to return from an ankle injury this week. As a unit, the Bengals were sixth in rush DVOA heading into Week 8.

Texans DT Christian Covington suffered an elbow injury that will cost him the rest of the season. He picked up a major role due to injuries on Houston’s defense and earned PFF’s 28th-best interior defender grade this season. Over the past three weeks he played, he’s earned the eighth-best pass rushing productivity rate at his position (per PFF). It's yet another huge blow to this defense that's been decimated by injuries. The Texans host the Colts this weekend, setting up a decent spot for Jacoby Brissett who passed for 233 yards and two touchdowns against a tougher Bengals defense in Week 8.

Steelers S Mike Mitchell exited Sunday night’s game with an ankle injury, although he said he would be alright. PFF’s 32nd cover safety has played a big role in Pittsburgh’s success defending the pass. They were the epitome of a bend-but-don’t-break defense last night against the Lions. Despite allowing Matthew Stafford to throw for 423 yards and make several trips into the red zone, they didn’t allow a single touchdown and won the game by five points. Mitchell will have a Week 9 bye to get healthy.

Marquise Goodwin, LB Reuben Foster, RT Trent Brown, and G Brandon Fusco questionable for Week 8; CB K'Wuan Williams ruled out

If Goodwin plays, he could battle Ronald Darby (questionable, ankle) most of the afternoon, setting up a much more difficult spot than his teammate, Pierre Garcon has with Jalen Mills. Garcon runs 52% of his routes to Mills' side compared to 25% for Goodwin. The Eagles CB has allowed the most receptions (41), sixth-most yards (400), and fifth-most touchdowns (4) this season. Philly has been funneling fantasy production to the opposing receivers and tight ends while they've given up the fewest rushing yards (42.0) and eighth-fewest PPR points to RBs. Last week, San Francisco had QB C.J. Beathard toss the rock 38 times as they played from behind and he could see a similar volume this weekend considering the 49ers are 13-point road dogs. With Darby back and slot corner Patrick Robinson having a phenomenal year, currently ranking in the top ten in yards per cover snap and cover snaps per reception when lined up inside (per PFF), Beathard may target Garcon quite a bit. He could also look for George Kittle often if the tight end returns to a high snap count - he played a season-low 31 last week. The Eagles are allowing the fifth-most PPR points to TEs and they struggled against Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis in Week 7; the pair combined for a 12/14/131/2 line. They're also permitting the seventh-most receptions to RBs (6.57), making Hyde a better option in full PPR formats, but he's still a risky choice against this defense. Kendricks will make his return after being inactive last weekend and the Eagles could really use him with LB Jordan Hicks done for the season. He's PFF's 25th-ranked linebacker and their best one in coverage. On the other side of the ball, Williams' absence will force the 49ers to go to their bench to defend the slot. That sets up a nice spot for Nelson Agholor, who's caught exactly four balls and scored a touchdown in each of the past three games. He's not a huge target guy, averaging 5.0 per game, but he's been a touchdown machine - he's hauled in the fourth-most receiving touchdowns (5) after finding paint in 5-of-7 games. Adding to his upside, he's seventh in league with 166 yards on passes with a depth of target 20+ yards downfield.

Eagles CB Ronald Darby questionable for Week 8; LB Mychal Kendricks will play

Darby is has a good chance to make his return this weekend against the 49ers after returning to practice last week. He's only played 18 snaps this season after getting injured in the opening game but he'll present an upgrade for a pass defense that's allowing the fifth-most PPR points to receivers. If he suits up, it's a downgrade for outside receivers Pierre Garcon and either Marquise Goodwin (questionable) or his replacement, Aldrick Robinson, although they'll get some run against Jalen Mills as well. Garcon has the advantage there as he's running 52% of his routes on Mills' side compared to 25% for Goodwin and 26% for Robinson. The Eagles corner has allowed the most receptions (41), sixth-most yards (400), and fifth-most touchdowns (4) this season. Philly is funneling fantasy production to the opposing receivers and tight ends as they're giving up the fewest rushing yards (42.0) and eighth-fewest PPR points to RBs.
