Justin Smoak (neck) scratched Thursday; Alen Hanson replaces

Smoak has been scratched from the Toronto Blue Jays original confirmed lineup and will not start in Thursday’s matchup against the Cleveland Indians due to a sore neck. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Alen Hanson, who will now play second base and slot into the ninth spot in the order, which bumps Socrates Brito all the way up to the two-hole and shifts Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to first base defensively. However, the remainder of the Blue Jays lineup will stay intact offensively as they face off against right-hander Trevor Bauer on the road this evening.

Still some value in a poor lineup in a great spot

The lineup is not very encouraging and 4.68 runs is a low implied total for Coors, but Antonio Senzatela is not a top of the rotation pitcher, which means any offense he faces at Coors can be dangerous and certainly Joe Panik (94 wRC+, .108 ISO vs RHP this season) stands out as a value bat in this spot, leading off for $3.7K on DraftKings. Brandon Belt (128 wRC+, .260 ISO) has been struggling, but he and Alen Hanson (124 wRC+, .230 ISO) have the best numbers against RHP in this lineup.

Massive park upgrade for this LH power hitter vs a HR prone RHP

Anthony DeSclafani hasn't allowed a HR in two starts, but has still allowed 15 in 12 starts this year, 11 of those at home. Since last season, LHBs have a .375 wOBA, 42.6 Hard% and 30.3 GB% against him. Brandon Belt (152 wRC+, .245 ISO vs RHP last calendar year) know where this is going. He costs just $2.7K on FanDuel and not only is he facing a HR prone pitcher who can't retire LHBs, but he transitions from one of the most power suppressing parks for LHBs to one of the most power friendly tonight. Find a way to fit Belt in some lineups. Alen Hanson (113 wRC+, .219 ISO) and Joe Panik (119 wRC+, .156 ISO) each cost exactly $2.2K on FanDuel as well, the former with a much more enviable lineup spot, five ahead of the latter.

Alen Hanson scratched Sunday; Kelby Tomlinson replaces

Hanson has been scratched from the San Francisco Giants original confirmed lineup and will not start in Sunday’s matchup against the Oakland Athletics due to a presently unspecified reason. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Kelby Tomlinson, who will play second base and slot directly into Hanson’s vacated eighth spot in the order. However, the remainder of the Giants lineup will stay intact as they face off against left-hander Sean Manaea at home this afternoon.

Antonio Senzatela has impressed at AAA, but San Francisco run line is rising

Antonio Senzatela gets his first start of the season after some relief work and an impressive 20.0 K-BB% in eight AAA starts this season. Over 20 starts and 152 major league innings total, RHBs (.332 wOBA) have actually hit him a bit better than LHBs (.322 wOBA) with xwOBA widening the gap to 27 points despite keeping the ball on the ground a bit more than half the time against all batters. The park and an implied run line that has risen to 6.16 now makes this a spot that heavily favors San Francisco bats despite just a few who are potent against RHP over the last calendar year. Alen Hanson (99 wRC+, .226 ISO) offers the most value in the leadoff spot for $4K or less. Brandon Belt (165 wRC+, .279 ISO) is by far the top overall bat here. Nobody else in the lineup has both a wRC+ above 100 and ISO above .185 against RHP over the last calendar year. Buster Posey (101 wRC+, .089 ISO) and Brandon Crawford (136 wRC+, .185 ISO) are still strong options at otherwise difficult positions.

Not Fancy

Hanson isn't anything fancy but look for him to leadoff again for the Giants at the hitter friendly SunTrust Park against Brandon McCarthy. One thing Hanson does have is speed and this does project to be a good stolen base matchup if Kurt Suzuki is behind the plate - both McCarthy and Suzuki have been bad in terms of stolen base prevention over the course of their careers. Hanson's multi-position eligibility (2B/SS) comes in handy on DraftKings as it's near impossible to pass up on Brian Dozier in cash games. Similarly on FanDuel, you're not playing Hanson over Dozier, but more so looking at lineups with one of the two in your utility spot.

Avisail Garcia scratched Thursday; Alen Hanson replaces and will bat eighth

Avisail Garcia has officially been scratched from the Chicago White Sox lineup for tonight's game against the Texas Rangers due to an unspecified reason. He'll be replaced in said lineup by Alen Hanson, who will take over the right field duties and bat eighth. This lineup change will bump Yolmer Sanchez, Tim Anderson, and Omar Narvaez all up one spot in the order to fifth, sixth and seventh respectively. However, the remainder of the White Sox previously confirmed lineup does remain unchanged.

Leury Garcia scratched, Alen Hanson bats leadoff

Leury Garcia has been scratched and Alen Hanson will bat leadoff for the White Sox in his place.

Gregory Polanco (groin) scratched from the Pirates lineup today; Alen Hanson will play LF and bat eighth

Polanco was a late scratch from the Pirates lineup for today's game against the Chicago Cubs due to right groin discomfort. He'll be replaced in left field by Alen Hanson, who will bat eighth. This will slide everyone up a spot in the order, except for Josh Bell, who leapfrogs Francisco Cervelli and will slot into the five hole behind David Freese. This news does make Pittsburgh a less appealing contrarian tournament stack, as they are now without one of their best left-handed bats against Jake Arrieta with the wind blowing out at Wrigley field.

Starling Marte placed on paternity leave by Pirates; Alen Hanson called up

The Pirates announced that their star OF has been placed on paternity leave with Alen Hanson getting the call up to take his place. No timetable on when Marte will return to action yet.
