Jabari Blash scratched Sunday; Allen Cordoba replaces and will bat eighth

Blash has officially been scratched from the San Diego Padres lineup for today's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks due to an unspecified reason. He'll be replaced in the lineup by Allen Cordoba, who will take over the right field duties defensively and bat eighth. This lineup change will bump Erick Aybar and Matthew Szczur each up one spot in the order to sixth and seventh respectively. However, the remainder of the Padres previously confirmed lineup does remain unchanged.

Players can look towards the middle infield or behind the plate for cheap bats tonight

With Chris Sale on the mound and a game at Coors tonight featuring one vulnerable lefty, players are going to need spots to save salary. The best spot for that may be at SS. Allen Cordoba (125 wRC+ vs RHP) is hitting leadoff. Eddie Butler sometimes gets ground balls, but not a lot of strikeouts and Cordoba is $2.6K or less on either site. Though he bats further down in the order tonight. Tim Beckham is another option at SS for $3K or less on either site in Texas against Nick Martinez. For FanDuel players, Catcher is another spot to save with Chris Herrmann costing $2.2K ($1.5K more on DraftKings). He bats in the lower half of the order as well, but has a .212 ISO vs RHP since 2015 and Pittsburgh is more forgiving to LH power than RH. Dixon Machado is another middle infield bat leading off for $2.7K on DraftKings and the absolute minimum on FanDuel. He has just a 78 career wRC+ against LHP though and faces a debuting LHP in Eric Skoglund. Competent cheap bats in decent spots are becoming more difficult to find as we get deeper into the season.

Three top of the order middle infielders for less than $3K on either site help player save salary tonight

While Tim Beckham might be the most popular bat on the slate because you can't ask for much more than a $2.8K SS batting leadoff when that hitter has a 102 wRC+ against LHP since last season and that lefty has allowed RHBs a 37.5 Hard% since last season. He's not the cheap middle infield bat in the leadoff spot though. Players would have to be a bit more bold to roster Allen Cordoba against Max Scherzer, but the San Diego leadoff man is both SS and OF eligible on DraftKings and $500 less than Beckham on either site. He does have a 141 wRC+ against RHP so far and the Washington bullpen has had some issues this year. It wouldn't take much for him to pay off. Andres Blanco (105 wRC+, .172 ISO vs RHP since 2015) is in an even better spot against Tim Adleman (LHBs .349 wOBA career). He's batting second and is SS eligible on FanDuel for the absolute minimum, but plays at both Second and Third Base for $700 more on DraftKings.

Matt Szczur scratched from Padres lineup; Allen Cordoba replaces

Szczur has been officially scratched from the San Diego Padres lineup for tonight's game against the Milwaukee Brewers due to an unspecified reason. He'll be replaced in the lineup by Allen Cordoba, who will bat eighth. Meaning, the remainder of the Padres batting order will remain the same.

Patrick Corbin has allowed a .355 wOBA to RHBs since 2015

Players should pay little attention to Patrick Corbin's 2.81 ERA with estimators double that, as he's walked as many as he's struck out with just a 6.2 SwStr%. The favorable environment in San Diego may draw some to him as an SP2 on DraftKings at a low price (San Diego has the fourth lowest implied run line tonight - 3.7), but there's neither upside, nor safety here. While nowhere close to a friendly park for power, Petco hasn't been terrible to RH power in recent seasons. Wil Myers (121 wRC+, .172 ISO, 39.7 Hard% vs LHP since 2015) has a 141 wRC+ and .224 ISO at home since 2015 and projects just outside the top five on DraftKings (8.39 points via RotoGrinders Player Projections). Manuel Margot (118 wRC+, .179 ISO vs LHP), Hunter Renfroe (143 wRC+, .311 ISO at home), and Yangervis Solarte (101 wRC+, .153 ISO vs LHP since last season) may all be useful at low prices as well. Even Hedges and Cordoba can be considered as punt plays for the cost at scarce positions against a pitcher who has allowed a .355 wOBA and 35.5 Hard% to RHBs since 2015.

Inexpensive top of Toronto lineup could help those looking to pay up for pitching

Trey Mancini is going to be a popular play tonight and he is inexpensive on DraftKings ($3.4K), but we're looking even cheaper tonight if the plan is to pay up for pitching. Dipping further down the lineups, Chris Young ($2.8K DK, $2.6K FD)is batting seventh against Francisco Liriano, but has been a lefty masher (158 wRC+, .244 ISO) the last couple of years. Justin Smoak ($2.8K DK, $2.3K FD) has three career HRs against Rick Porcello. Back to the top of the lineup, Aaron Hill ($2.2K DK, $2.5K FD) might be an average bat (103 wRC+ since 2016) against LHP. Kevin Pillar ($3K DK, $2.4K FD) isn't much, but he is batting leadoff for a lineup projected to score four runs tonight. Ezequiel Carrera ($2.6K DK, $2.4K FD) is much the same right behind him. A Toronto stack, some of whom have strong numbers against Porcello, could get you to Kershaw alone. Alllen Cordoba ($2.5K DK, $2K) is an unknown in the two spot for the Padres tonight against a struggling Zack Greinke.
