Andre Ellington Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Alfred Blue expected to miss Sunday
The absence of a noneffective back up player is usually not worth noting, but Blue's absence should open up a path for pass catching expert Andre Ellington to receive a bigger role moving forward. In addition to the work received as a back up running back, Ellington should see some work as a slot receiver this weekend. With injuries to Bruce Ellington and Braxton Miller, the Texans lined up Ellington 37 times in the slot last week allowing this pass-catching back to turn 6 targets into a 5-56 line. With chance to get work in both the passing and running game, Ellington should be work a look at $3,600 on DraftKings.
Texans claimed Andre Ellington
Houston needed some depth in their backfield following D'Onta Foreman's season-ending injury. Ellington will likely work into some type of passing down role in the coming weeks - it's not yet clear if he'll be ready to play this weekend.
The Cardinals waive RB Andre Ellington
After being a healthy scratch for yesterday's game against the Houston Texans, the Arizona Cardinals have made it official and have waived Andre Ellington from their active roster on Monday afternoon. The void Ellington leaves behind as the team's former passing down back could open up opportunities for D.J. Foster or even Kerwynn Williams as a change of pace back from Adrian Peterson, who can be expected to continue working as the Cardinals feature back until further notice.
John Brown (back) active Sunday; Andre Ellington is a healthy scratch
Brown returned to the Arizona Cardinals' practice on Friday and will be active for today's game against the Houston Texans after previously be expected to play. That said, the mid-week downgrade is a bit concerning given his injury history and may be in line for reduced snaps coming off a season-high 69 snaps in the Cardinals Week 10 matchup. It goes without saying that Brown should be reserved for tournament use only, but he does draw a plus matchup with a Texans defense that ranks 29th in pass DVOA versus number two wide receivers.
Andre Ellington active Week 9
He sat out last game with a quad injury but he's ready to return this weekend against the 49ers. He'll man the passing-down role for the Cardinals in a great spot for receiving running backs. The 49ers are allowing the most receiving yards (68.8), most receiving touchdowns (0.5), and fifth-most receptions per game to the position. Quarterback Drew Stanton may need to rely on Ellington as a safety valve throughout the game, providing the back a little GPP appeal in full PPR formats. The last time Ellington played San Francisco, back in Week 4, he hauled in nine receptions for 86 yards and added five carries for 18 on the ground. Adrian Peterson wasn't on the team then but AP has little-to-no involvment in the passing game. Ellington is $3.8k on DraftKings with projected ownership of 1%.

Andre Ellington questionable for Week 9
He sat out last game with a quad injury. If he's able to play, he'll man the passing-down role for the Cardinals this weekend. It's a great spot for receiving backs. Andre Ellington (quad) not expected to play Sunday
Ellington had been listed as questionable on the Arizona Cardinals injury report with a quad injury for today's game against the St. Louis Rams over in London but is reportedly not expected to play this afternoon. Ellington saw very limited snaps in last week's win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers mostly due to the game script and the overall success of Adrian Peterson in the running game. Despite Ellington's absence, Peterson should not be expected to take over the passing down role as it is more likely that those snaps will be absorbed by Kerwynn Williams if the Cardinals are trailing. Peterson does set up nicely as a tournament option against the Rams' 22nd ranked rush DVOA, especially if Arizona is able to get out to a lead early in the game.
Buccaneers LB Kwon Alexander and S Keith Tandy ruled out for Week 6; LB Lavonte David and S T.J. Ward questionable
Tampa Bay could get two of these four guys back for their game against the Cardinals. David's presence would help shore up the middle of the field and receiving RB coverage which was picked apart by Tom Brady last week through a mix of Chris Hogan and Danny Amendola in the slot and James White out of the backfield. White posted a 7/57/0 line while Hogan and Amendola combined for a 15/132/1 line from the slot. Surely, the Cardinals would try a similar approach with Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Ellington if the Bucs are without David again. If David returns, Carson Palmer could look to pick on Vernon Hargreaves, PFF's 101st cover corner, on the outside. He'll see John Brown and Jaron Brown the most, which sets up a great matchup for the receivers. Hargreaves has allowed the fifth-highest passer rating (127.6), second-most receiving yards (354), and fourth-most yards per cover snap (2.02). John is getting healthier and he supplanted Jaron as the number two receiver again in Week 5, out-snapping him 48 to 36. He was only able to haul in two of his seven targets, but one was for a touchdown. He'll look to build on that against the Bucs on Sunday.
Buccaneers LB Kwon Alexander, LB Lavonte David, S T.J. Ward, and S Keith Tandy were all limited Wednesday
All four were sidelined for Tampa's Week 5 game against the Patriots. Their absence was highlighted by slot receiver Danny Amendola and running back James White combined for 15 receptions and 134 receiving yards as New England focused on exploiting the mismatches in the middle of the field. Chris Hogan moved inside for 27 of his routes and collected all 11 of his targets and his entire 8/74/1 line from the slot. Surely, the Cardinals would try a similar approach with Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Ellington if the Bucs are without these guys again. If some or all can play, particularly the linebackers, then Carson Palmer could look to pick on Vernon Hargreaves, PFF's 101st cover corner, on the outside. He'll see John Brown and Jaron Brown the most, which sets up a great matchup for the receivers.
