Andre Holmes Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Broncos claim WR Andre Holmes off waivers

The Broncos have officially announced that they've claimed former Bills wide receiver Andre Holmes off waivers in what will likely be the corresponding roster move to the eventual placing of Emmanuel Sanders on injured reserve due to a torn Achilles tendon. The acquisition of Holmes was made, in all likelihood, to provide depth at the wide receiver position following the trade of Demaryius Thomas and the aforementioned injury to Sanders this afternoon. This week, at the very least, the Broncos are projected to utilize a three-wide receiver set that consists of Courtland Sutton, DaeSean Hamilton, and Tim Patrick, while River Cracraft is the other remaining receiver currently on the active roster. Hamilton, in particular, is poised to be an intriguing option for Week 14 contests, as he is the favorite to take over Sanders' vacated role in the slot and was on the field for 80 percent of snaps in Sunday's win.

Bills release WR Kelvin Benjamin and WR Andre Holmes

The Bills officially announced that they have parted ways with Kelvin Benjamin and Andre Holmes and will file for waivers on each veteran wide receiver Tuesday evening. Holmes had barely played in any of Buffalo's last three games, but the departure of Benjamin will open up more snaps for Robert Foster, Isaiah McKenzie, and Deonte Thompson, each of whom played between 35-49% of snaps in the loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon. Zay Jones has been leading the Bills receiving corps in snap rate for most of the season, but he still stands to benefit from these roster transactions as he's accumulated a total of 21 targets over the last three games.

Andre Holmes out for the season

As almost a nonexistent piece of this offense, Holmes regularly worked behind each of Kelvin Benjamin, Deonte Thompson, and Zay Jones. This one time Raider only caught 13 passes this season and has an uncertain future with the team moving forward.

Buffalo down offensive players in Week 16

The Bills will be without both Andre Holmes and Jordan Matthews this Sunday vs the Patriots. Kelvin Benjamin (knee, questionable) if healthy will continue to play with Zay Jones and Deonte Thompson as the team's only healthy wide outs. Benjamin will be limited in practice again on Friday, but it looks like he will try to play through his meniscus injury. It's hard to find great value in any of these pass catchers for the Bills, but the injury opportunities open up playing time for both Jones and Thompson who should figure into the mix next season.

Jets CB Morris Claiborne didn't practice Monday, CB Buster Skrine limited

Claiborne was successfully shutting down Julio Jones in shadow coverage on Sunday until he went down with a foot injury in the third quarter. Naturally, Jones immediately reeled in a 53-yard grab as soon as Claiborne hobbled off. After further testing today, Claiborne was diagnosed with a "sore foot." He’s got a short week to recover as the Jets host the Bills on Thursday night but coach Todd Bowles says there's a chance he plays. Slot corner Buster Skrine was inactive Sunday with a concussion and he’s in danger of missing Week 9 as well as he remains in the protocol, potentially setting up a solid spot for Tyrod Taylor and his pass-catchers. Receivers Andre Holmes, Zay Jones, and Jordan Matthews all caught exactly three passes in Week 8. Matthews could benefit from Skrine’s absence inside but he hasn’t seen more than five targets in any game this season. Although the potential lack of Jets corners could help the Bills receivers' effectiveness, the Raiders were also banged up in the secondary and LeSean McCoy led the team with seven targets. He continues to pace the team with 46 targets and 38 receptions. Since 2016, the running back has struggled to run the ball on the road though, averaging 63.2 rushing yards per game compared to 99.4 at home. Heading into Week 8, the Jets ranked 22nd in rush DVOA (per FO) and the Falcons picked up 140 yards on the ground on 32 carries. McCoy should remain active in the passing game, if he can overcome his road running splits, he'll be in great shape.
