Andrei Svechnikov Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This second line is an intriguing cheap option tonight
Over the last 10 games, it has been Teuvo Teravainen leading the way in points for the Carolina Hurricanes. His 12 points — 11 of them being assists — has been a bit of a relief off of the shoulders of Sebastian Aho who has been carrying the load for the most part. Teravainen has been playing with the returning Jordal Staal and rookie Andrei Svechnikov over the last 10 games since Staal's return. Teravainen is playing on the top power play unit while Staal and Svech play on the second unit which is a bit discouraging but this line is still a solid even strength line worth stacking.
Talented rookie heating up for surging Hurricanes
Matt Murray has allowed just three goals on 70 shots in two starts against the Hurricanes this season, but tonight is a good chance to roll out Carolina's talented rookie Andrei Svechnikov who has three goals over his last three games. Last Monday, Svechnikov erupted in Colorado for a three point game. While Svechnikov and the Staal line will likely get a bulk of their ice time against Sidney Crosby, Svechnikov's price across the industry is attractive as his talent is massive. In what could be a flat spot for the Penguins after their defeat to the Flyers, Andrei and Carolina can take advantage on home ice.
Rookie will thrive against defensively-challenged visitors
Andrei Svechnikov has gone eight consecutive games without a point, but tonight is a good night to take advantage of his cheap price tag against everyone's favorite team to pick on - the Ottawa Senators. The last time these two teams met, Carolina put five past Ottawa on the road. While Anders Nilsson has performed admirably since his trade from Vancouver, he will need to be extra sharp against a Hurricanes' team which is certain to dominate shot share in this one. The second overall pick in the 2018 draft is an excellent play in tournaments.
Russian rookie looks to stay hot against Detroit
Andrei Svechnikov has picked up at least a point in four of his last five games, and in December, he has 25 shots on goal in seven games. Tonight's matchup against a poor road team in Detroit, which is missing the surprisingly solid Jimmy Howard, is one to exploit. The Carolina Hurricanes continue to dictate play but suffer from their typical poor shooting percentage. A goalie like Jonathan Bernier who has a .891 save percentage may not be able to stand another barrage like he did earlier this season when he stopped 49 of Carolina's 52 shots. The Hurricanes have scored 12 goals over their last three games, and Svechnikov has been a big factor in that. His price is cheap across the industry and makes for a solid solo play in tournaments.
Overlooked Jet opens up roster construction
Mathieu Perreault doesn't see much ice time like he used to, but the Jets draw the best matchup of the night. Perreault is more of an option on DraftKings ($2,700) given the dirt-cheap price tag and tighter pricing than on FanDuel ($3,400) where pricing is softer. Perreault has picked up an assist in three straight games, and he still sees time on the team's second power play unit. Punting with Perreault really opens up some salary to grab some of the Jets' superstars or grab a strong defenseman.
On FanDuel, Pontus Aberg is still $3,700 and a better option than Perreault given the four skaters per team limit and overall salary structure. Aberg has been rock solid over his last three games. Andrei Svechnikov is another source of salary relief at wing.
Rookie winger looks to take advantage of boost in minutes
After logging 10, 10 and 13 minutes in his final three games of October, Andrei Svechnikov has seen a minutes boost over his last two games, logging 16 minutes in each while taking five shots on goal in addition to potting his third goal of the season as Svechnikov has taken over top line duties with Sebastian Aho. The 18 year old Russian is a talented prospected on a Hurricanes' team pacing the league in Expected Goals For per 60 minutes at 5v5 (3.31 xGF/60). Blues' goaltending has been a disaster this season, and given that Chad Johnson likely sees increased ownership tonight given his cheap price tag across the industry and the Canes' propensity to take a massive number of shots without converting them, rolling out Svechnikov (DraftKings - $3,700 & FanDuel - $3,500) and the Hurricanes makes sense in tournaments.
