Arron Afflalo Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Jonathon Simmons (wrist contusion) ruled out Tuesday; Arron Afflalo will start
Simmons has officially been ruled out and won't play in Tuesday's game against the Toronto Raptors after previously being listed as questionable on the Orlando Magic's injury report and considered a game-time decision with a right wrist contusion. In his absence, Arron Afflalo will draw the start at shooting guard but has largely been out of the rotation since the All-Star break, appearing in just four games and logging 15 minutes or less in each contest. Meanwhile, Aaron Gordon has finally cleared the concussion protocol and will make his return to the starting lineup, which will send Mario Hezonja back to the bench to resume a reserve role and allow Jonathan Isaac to remain the starting small forward with Evan Fournier still sidelined with a left MCL sprain. However, Isaac has been subject to a strict 25-minute restriction, extremely limiting his floor and ceiling for all daily fantasy formats.
Arron Afflalo suspended two games by the NBA
Afflalo has been suspended for two games by the NBA for his physical altercation with Nemanja Bjelica during Tuesday's win, according to Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania, and he will begin serving that suspension for tonight's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, effectively ruling him out of Thursday's matchup. Afflalo has not played a major role in the Magic's rotation for quite a while now and has logged 11 minutes or fewer in four of the last five games. His absence would open up additional playing time for Mario Hezonja and Wesley Iwundu on the wing, though nothing substantial enough to boost the projected fantasy value of either young forward this evening.
Arron Afflalo (back) available to play Wednesday; Evan Fournier (foot) remains out
Afflalo participated in the team's morning shootaround and will be available to play in tonight's game against the Chicago Bulls after previously being listed as questionable on the Orlando Magic's injury report with back spasms that had forced him to miss three consecutive games. Meanwhile, Evan Fournier will remain sidelined due to a sprained right ankle, and Jonathan Isaac will be on a minute restriction of approximately 20 minutes in his second game since returning from a sprained right ankle himself.
Aaron Gordon (calf) ruled out for Sunday; Arron Afflalo (back) and Jonathan Isaac (ankle) questionable
Gordon has been listed as out on the Orlando Magic's injury report for tomorrow's game against the Detroit Pistons due to a strained left calf he sustained during Friday's contest and it still remains unclear exactly how long he will be sidelined. Meanwhile, Arron Afflalo and Jonathan Isaac have each been listed as questionable with their respective ailments. The Magic are still without Evan Fournier and Terrence Ross, which led the team to recall Adreian Payne, Jamel Artis, and Khem Birch from the G-League earlier in the week, but the trio failed to see the court and will likely only do so in the event of an emergency if Afflalo and Isaac remain out once again. If that's the case, Wesley Iwundu would draw the start and has averaged 29 minutes of playing time in his two previous spot starts in Afflalo's place. The sample size with the aforementioned players off the court this season is extremely limited, but in that short time both Nikola Vucevic and Jonathon Simmons own at least a +4.1% usage rate differential and see substantial increases to their per minute fantasy production, adding to their appeal in all formats on Sunday's slate if Orlando's injury situation plays out as depicted.
Aaron Gordon (concussion) will start Friday; Arron Afflalo (back) and Jonathan Isaac (ankle) ruled out
Gordon has cleared the concussion protocol and will start in tonight's game against the Portland Trail Blazers after previously being listed as questionable on the Orlando Magic's injury report, while Arron Afflalo and Jonathan Isaac have each been ruled out following their earlier questionable designations on the injury report with their respective ailments. The Magic are still without Evan Fournier and Terrence Ross as well, which led the team to recall Adreian Payne, Jamel Artis, and Khem Birch from the G-League on Wednesday, but the trio failed to see the court and will likely only do so in the event of an emergency with Afflalo and Isaac remaining sidelined once again. The sample size with the aforementioned players off the court this season is extremely limited, but both Nikola Vucevic and Jonathon Simmons own at least a +4.7% usage rate differential and see substantial increases to their per minute fantasy production, adding to their appeal, along with Gordon, in all formats on Friday's slate.
Aaron Gordon (concussion), Arron Afflalo (back), and Jonathan Isaac (ankle) questionable for Friday
Gordon participated in Thursday's practice and has been listed as questionable on the Orlando Magic's injury report for tomorrow's game against the Portland Trail Blazers due to a concussion that has forced him to miss two consecutive games, while Arron Afflalo has been listed as questionable with back spasms that kept him sidelined for Wednesday's loss and Jonathan Isaac has been upgraded to questionable due to a sprained right ankle that has forced him to miss 16 straight games. The Magic are still without Evan Fournier and Terrence Ross, which led the team to recall Adreian Payne, Jamel Artis, and Khem Birch from the G-League on Wednesday, but the trio failed to see the court and will likely only do so in the event of an emergency if Gordon, Afflalo, and Isaac remain out once again. The sample size with the aforementioned players off the court this season is extremely limited, but in that short time both Nikola Vucevic and Jonathon Simmons own at least a +4.2% usage rate differential and see substantial increases to their per minute fantasy production, adding to their appeal in all formats on Friday's slate if Orlando's injury situation plays out as depicted.
Arron Afflalo (back spasms) ruled out Wednesday
Afflalo has been ruled out and won't play in tonight's game against the Los Angeles Clippers after previously being listed as questionable on the Orlando Magic's injury report with back spasms. He'll join Aaron Gordon among the Magic's recent additions to the inactive list, and Gordon remains in the final phases of the concussion protocol and will miss his second consecutive games. The Magic are also without Evan Fournier, Jonathan Isaac, and Terrence Ross, which has led the team to recall Adreian Payne, Jamel Artis, and Khem Birch from the G-League and all will be available to play, though Payne and Marreese Speights were DNP-CDs in the previous game with Gordon sidelined. The sample size with the aforementioned players off the court this season is extremely limited, but in that short time both Nikola Vucevic and Jonathon Simmons own at least a +5.6% usage rate differential and see substantial increases to their per minute fantasy production, adding to their appeal in all formats on Wednesday's slate.
Tyreke Evans (rest), Kosta Koufos (rest), Darren Collison (migraine), and Arron Afflalo (rest) all ruled out for Kings
Evans, Koufos, Collison, and Afflalo will all be rested and won't play in tonight's game against the Phoenix Suns despite never appearing on the Kings' injury report at any point throughout the day. The Kings have yet to announce their official starting lineup, but Ty Lawson will almost assuredly draw the start at point guard in Collison's absence. Resting players down the home stretch of the season have become a norm for the Kings of late, but now they'll join a host of other teams on tonight's slate with the regular season scheduled to wrap up tomorrow evening. Lawson is an interesting pivot in tournaments off the other value point guard options, but Buddy Hield, Willie Cauley-Stein, and Skal Labissiere remain the primary Sacramento players to target in all formats.
Arron Afflalo (rest), Darren Collison (rest), Kosta Koufos (rest) and Tyreke Evans (rest) all ruled out for Kings; Anthony Tolliver probably
Sacramento is continuing their routine of resting a handful of players each night. Sunday it will be Afflalo, Collison, Koufos, and Evans. Tolliver is expected to play. Buddy Hield, Willie Cauley-Stein, and Skal Labissiere will lead the way for the Kings. Those three guys have been getting the most minutes recently and they're all in play tonight against Houston, who ranke in the bottom five in DvP against each of their positions. Labissiere is the cheapest option, while Cauley-Stein has the biggest upside, and Hield gets the highest usage of the three.
Kosta Koufos (rest), Ty Lawson (rest), and Garrett Temple (rest) all ruled OUT tonight
Anthony Tolliver (hip) and Arron Afflalo (back) are probable. With Koufos, Lawson, and Temple off the court, Tyreke Evans and Buddy Hield lead the way in usage with 25.7% and 24.4%, respectively. Hield puts up better per-minute fantasy production at 0.88 FD ppm, which is 0.12 ppm better than his average. Hield has routinely been in the mid-30s since he became the starter in Sacramento, a trend that should continue tonight. Willey Cauley-Stein sees a monster 0.16 FD ppm increase in this situation, giving him an average pace of 1.03 FD ppm. He should also get plenty of minutes and he's been more consistent lately. Fortunately for both players, they get to visit the Lakers tonight, who are in the bottom-third in DvP rankings across the board.
