Artem Anisimov Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This sophomore has a sneaky-good matchup tonight
Alex DeBrincat and the Chicago Blackhawks host a Winnipeg Jets team that has struggled a bit from a possession standpoint as of late. They've given up a 60.72 CA/60 which is the sixth-most over the last month while their 43.87 CF% ranks 29th. The Blackhawks have put forth plenty of opportunities as their 61.19 CF/60 is the sixth-best over the last month. DeBrincat is slated to skate with Patrick Kane and Artem Anisimov in a newly formed line that could prove to be dominant against a Winnipeg Jets team with plenty of depth.
Shuffled Lines Could Breed Opportunities
Joel Quenneville is out as head coach of the Blackhawks, and Jeremy Colliton wasted no time in shuffling the lines for the Hawks. The second line for Chicago (really line 1b) now consists of Artem Anisimov, Nick Schmaltz, and Patrick Kane. This trio has had success in the past, so it makes sense to reunite them in an effort to spark the team. Schmaltz has seen his ice time dip lately, with 14 minutes or less in three of his last four, but I expect him to return to a heavy workload under the new regime. As for the power play, Schmaltz joins Toews, Kane, Seabrook, and Debrincat to form a threatening first unit.
Inexpensive Chicago center has two goals in his last three games
Artem Anisimov has struggled with injury this season, much like he has throughout his career, but he has shown signs of life lately, picking up two goals in his last three games. Anisimov is not one to shoot much, but he converts at a high rate (17.4% this season and 21% last season). With Patrick Kane also showing some signs of life after a prolonged slump, Anisimov figures to be involved in the scoring as well. Chicago has struggled as a whole, but they are in a favorable spot tonight against a Shark team that was pounded by the Nashville Predators last night, giving up seven goals in the process. San Jose's defense leaves a lot to be desired, and Joel Quenneville should be able to use Anisimov and Kane to exploit the Sharks' weak bottom-six. Fire up Artem Anisimov in tournaments or as a secondary cash game piece.
Blackhawks veteran makes for interesting tournament target
Artem Anisimov is listed as a center on FanDuel ($5,100), but he is expected to slot into left wing alongside Nick Schmaltz and Patrick Kane. On DraftKings ($4,000), Anisimov is listed as a winger which makes stacking the line less awkward. After posting 45 points (22 goals, 23 assists) in 64 games last season, Anisimov has labored through inconsistency and injuries, but tonight could be a good night to take a chance on him since he has reunited with Kane. Not only that, but he is expected to center Chicago's top power play unit that should get a handful of cracks against an undisciplined Calgary team. In spite of Anisimov's disappointing season, he has been effective at the United Center where he has 14 points (9 goals, 5 assists) in 19 games. Calgary has gotten the better of Chicago so far this season, winning both games 4-3 in overtime at the Saddledome. No matter who comes out victorious, Chicago figures to hit three goals again, and Anisimov certainly has a chance to do some damage skating with Kaner.
Target This American Hero Tonight
Two seasons removed from becoming the the first American born player to earn the Hart Trophy as the league's MVP, Patrick Kane continues to be a force offensively for a new look Blackhawks team. Aside from his unparalleled playmaking abilities, a major component of Kane's strong start to this season is the fact that he is averaging among the most ice time per game among NHL forwards despite not factoring into the team's penalty kill. Tonight "Kaner" will have a great opportunity to keep his fantastic overall season going against a weak Vancouver team that has lost eight of their last nine games while allowing close to five goals per game during that span. Skating alongside playmakers Nick Schmaltz and Artem Anisimov on Chicago's second line and top power play unit, look for this trio to breakout on the man advantage against a Vancouver penalty kill that has allowed 11 power play goals in as many games entering tonight.
Anisimov in Play on Home Ice
Anisimov is not a prolific player on his own, but he is centering the second line with Patrick Kane. In fact, he is skating next to Kane at both 5v5 and on the power play, masking his individual deficiencies with favorable superstar exposure. Anisimov and the second line should work against the King second line tonight, which should also help Anisimov as the center play on that line has been struggling a bit sans Jeff Carter. The Kings are allowing 11.95 high-danger shot attempts per hour at 5v5, the sixth most in the league. Anisimov is in good form at the moment, posting seven goals and an assist over his past 10 games with 32 shots on net, so look for him and the Hawks to challenge a Los Angeles team with the fifth highest expected goal rate at 5v5.
Cheap center takes on team that drafted him
Artem Anisimov is slated to skate with Patrick Kane not only at even-strength, but also on the team's top power play unit. Anisimov has not found the scoresheet too often, but his minutes are climbing and he has three goals in just six games this month. Last season Anisimov accumulated 45 points (22 goals, 23 assists) in 64 games. A majority of those goals came on home ice, where the 29-year-old center potted 14 altogether. Anisimov makes for a cheap combo piece with Patrick Kane, who should draw the weakest of the Rangers' defensive pairings tonight.
