Blake Jarwin Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

DAL TE Blake Jarwin expected to be activated and play Saturday

Blake Jarwin is expected to be activated from IR and play Saturday against the Philadelphia Eagles. Jarwin is expected to be on some sort of snap limit as the team works him back into game shape ahead of the playoffs. Jarwin will likely split snaps with Jeremy Sprinkle and Sean McKeon as they all back up Dalton Schultz. It remains to be seen how many snaps the Cowboys starters play in a relatively meaningless game.

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb and WR Amari Cooper listed questionable but expected to play Sunday; TE Blake Jarwin out; QB Dak Prescott not listed on injury report

DAL WR CeeDee Lamb and WR Amari Cooper listed questionable but expected to play Sunday against the Denver Broncos while Blake Jarwin has been ruled out. Lamb and Cooper are expected to play but if they were to be limited in some fashion the returning Michael Gallup (expected) could play a larger role in the offense and see some more targets. With Jarwin ruled out, Dalton Schultz will continue in his role as the top tight end and the returning Sean McKeon will assume Jarwin's role as tight end 2. Dak Prescott was not listed on the injury report and is in line to start Sunday.

DAL QB Dak Prescott expected to practice fully Thursday; WR CeeDee Lamb (ankle) limited; TE Blake Jarwin (hip) will not practice

Dak Prescott is expected to practice fully Thursday while CeeDee Lamb will be limited and Blake Jarwin will not practice. Dak Prescott looks to be a full go for Sunday and is expected to start when the Cowboys are set to take on the Denver Broncos. Lamb injured his ankle at practice yesterday and will be limited Thursday but is still expected to be fine by Sunday. If he were to be limited, Amari Cooper could see more targets as well as the returning Michael Gallup. Jarwin is trending towards not playing this weekend and his role will likely be assumed by the returning Sean McKeon, though for the time-being the Dallas tight end to consider rostering remains Dalton Schultz.

Blake Jarwin (knee) will miss the remainder of the season

The Cowboys’ initial fears were confirmed when an MRI confirmed that Jarwin did indeed suffer a ruptured Achilles in Week 1’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams, and he’ll eventually be placed on the long-term injured reserve, ending his 2020 season. In his absence, Dalton Schultz took over the primary pass-catching tight end role on Sunday night, but it's unlikely he'll carve out a meaningful target share in the Dallas offense moving forward. Instead, look for head coach Mike McCarthy and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to utilize 11 personnel on an even more frequent basis than they were previously. This would be a boon to the projected market share of targets for Ezekiel Elliott and all three of the top wide receivers, though CeeDee Lamb seems to be the largest beneficiary with less route and target competition that could have kept his role in the passing game diminished in the early stages of his rookie season.

Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (Ankle, Quad), WR Randall Cobb (Back), OT La’el Collins (Knee), OT Tyron Smith (Ankle) and CB Byron Jones (Hamstring) all Expected to Play on Sunday Night

This is huge news for the Cowboys, who should be at full strength offensively against the Eagles in a critical NFC East tilt on Sunday Night Football. With both OTs back, the entire offense should be more efficient. Check back for inactives about an hour and a half before this game starts to be sure none of these key players suffer any setbacks.

Zeke and Gallup are most affected by the surprising health of the Dallas offense. Elliot saw 28 carries and six targets last week since he had to be relied on more heavily with Cooper and Cobb hurt. Zeke can never be counted out to have a big game, but it seems less probable with his volume likely to decrease against a Philly defense that ranks second in DVOA vs. the run. Gallup was expected to be an excellent value play, but with Cooper back, his target projection will decrease tremendously. Gallup is still having an excellent 2019 campaign, meaning he should be considered for tournaments ranging from single-game to the main slate nonetheless. The pass-funnel Eagles defense has allowed the most FPs to WRs this season.

Cole Beasley (ankle) and Blake Jarwin (ankle) will be active Saturday

Beasley will reportedly be active for Saturday's Divisional Round matchup against the Los Angeles Rams despite not practicing all week because of an ankle injury, while Jarwin will also be active after battling an ankle injury of his own for a majority of the week. The Cowboys' tight ends had been an underutilized aspect of the offense for a majority of the regular season, but Jarwin has seen at least seven targets in the three of the last four games. There's been no confirmation, but if Beasley is limited in any way, Amari Cooper would likely move into the slot on a more consistent basis with Michael Gallup remaining on the outside in three-wide receiver sets.

WR Cole Beasley (ankle) and TE Blake Jarwin (ankle) miss practice again on Thursday

Both pass-catchers are looking like game-time decisions after missing three straight days of practice ahead of Saturday's divisional round game at LA. Owner Jerry Jones shared he was "very positive" about both playing Saturday, though he can be overly optimistic about his players' capabilities sometimes. With Allen Hurns out, each of them could move up in the receiving pecking order, particularly Beasley, in a game where more should be asked of the Cowboys' passing game given that they're a touchdown underdog in a game with a 50-point total.

Blake Jarwin (ankle) Will Not Practice

Blake Jarwin will not participate in Cowboys practice today. Jarwin caught all 3 of his targets against Seattle and is a weapon the Cowboys could use against the Rams this weekend. If active, Jarwin could remain in your DFS player pool as a viable option if spending down at the position.

WR Cole Beasley (ankle) and TE Blake Jarwin (ankle) unlikely to practice Tuesday; WR Tavon Austin (groin) expected to be limited

Despite today's practice report, Jerry Jones shared he was "very positive" about both wideouts playing Saturday. Additionally, Jarwin is reported to be feeling better, though the trio will need to be monitored later in the week as Jones can be overly optimistic about his players' capabilities. With Allen Hurns hitting IR today, each of them could move up in the receiving pecking order, particularly Beasley, in a game where more should be asked of the Cowboys' passing game given that they're a touchdown underdog in a game with a 50-point total.

Looking For Leverage At A Highly Variant Position

A good chunk of tight end ownership this week will be concentrated on Ertz and Ebron, and they are clearly the top projected plays at the position. However, we all know that tight end can be a highly variant position. Ertz has a tough matchup against a good Bears defense, and the wide receivers are just as capable of leading the way for the Colts. Enter Blake Jarwin, who did virtually nothing all year but exploded in Week 17, showing a very impressive connection with Dak Prescott in the process. While this could very well be a smoke-screen that tries to draw us in for the playoffs, I'm willing to take a chance on there being something to look at here. With ownership flocking to Elliott and Cooper, don't sleep on the Prescott/Jarwin connection as a sneaky combination that would also free up a lot of salary for you to spend up at the RB and WR positions.
